The first ever Hokie Effect game in partnership with the Student Government Association (SGA) will stripe sections of Lane Stadium in Orange and Maroon, as Notre Dame makes its debut appearance in Blacksburg on Oct. 6. Similar to Orange and Maroon Effect games in past years, and in conjunction with the SGA, official Hokie Effect stripe shirts will be available for purchase at University Bookstores, Lane Stadium Shops and Hokie Village beginning on the Spring Game weekend.

Question. Seat selection hasn't occurred yet so how do we know which shirt to buy at the spring game? Or should we just buy both?
I'd just wear whatever O/M shirt you have on hand. I don't think I've worn the official effect shirt to an effect game since I was an undergrad.
That orange effect shirt might be the first one I get since 2014 or so. The maroon effect isn't bad either.
Glad you like them. I think the orange is alright and the maroon is meh.
That stripe effect is probably going to fail...
I wonder why they bothered to color code section 104 and 105 since they're going to be all blue anyway...
Yeah, it's taken a decade for the white out to even start to take.
That's because it seems to always rain during that game, so we get rainbow effect instead.
But I think two things hindering the White Out (which is a much better sounding name than White Effect), are that the shirts sucked for the first few years (they've improved drastically in the last five or so years), and that it is usually paired with Corps Homecoming, and the Corps alumni are wearing their maroon polo and khakis.
Also, white is not one of our colors. I hardly ever do white effects because I like my orange and maroon, damnit.
I've always wondered...the schools that have done it for years (MSU, WVU, Iowa, PSU?), do they place a shirt at every seat? Because damn do they look like that's what they do.
No, they just create seating maps like VT has done and the fans support it. Hopefully, since ND is arguably the most anticipated home game this season (along with probably being nationally televised), the fans will support the Effect and make it turn out nice. I mean if WVU can do it, surely the Hokies can...

Issue for Tech is how the sections are broken up. We will have the stairs down the middle of colors and seats right next to each other in different colors.
Tennessee also made it easy, you enter your seat location into a website and it tells you what to wear.
Tech also has that at the top of the page: http://www.hokiesports.com/football/effect/
It's not rocket science to figure it out. It's just the question of whether fans will do it. The Effects always look best when it's a huge matchup though (OSU 2015, Clemson 2017, ND 2018(?)).
Except on mobile the button is covered up by the pictures of the shirts. Tennessee also had a website where the ONLY thing on the website was the overlay graphic and the seat. People won't be able to find this, they already complain too much communication is done via social media already. You have to make things like this as simple as possible. The lowest and easiest way to do it has to be done.
The issue I foresee is the kids that sneak into other sections and move around
Damn kids.
and throw paper airplanes?
What's really going to be annoying is orange paper airplanes thrown from the maroon section and vice versa.
Phalanx be like, "I got your back and eyes protected, bro"
C-wiz roaring, you won't be snoring.
what it lacks in badass looks, it more than makes up for by shredding the hell out of targets.
This is why you'll notice that the majority of students have been assigned with orange, including the entire NEZ and the north end of East Stands.
Don't over think it...it will be alright.
Marshall sort of pulled it off against Louisville in 2016, but there was a lot of red in there. The Marshall fans were able to follow protocol though. I'm sure Lane will look awesome against Notre Dame.
Yeah I don't really think it's as big of a task as people are making it seem. It doesn't have to be 100% participation to look right. I think it'll be fine.
I do think putting instructions on each ticket would be wise though.
They could color code your ticket, orange ticket wear orange, maroon ticket wear maroon
I'd add Tennessee to that list, too.
If Tennessee can do it...we will be able to do it.
idk Tennessee has one of the most passionate fan bases in the country.
FTFY
Correct.

by passionate you mean obnoxious
Tennessee/Florida in 2014 was a checkered look, and it was student organized, which is pretty impressive.
my friend who went to PSU basically said all they do is go to some site and input there seat location, and that tells them to wear white or blue, whether that be creating the "S" or a stripe effect. I believe they have a map like we see here to show them how its suppose to look relative to where they are sitting.
I hope HokieNation can come through and get this right, as it would look pretty cool. But my major concern to making sure everyone knows which color to wear is that the ND game is part of the mobile ticket option where the ticket and seat location are sent to you 1 day ahead of the game. Not that it takes more than a minute to look at the website and plug in the seat location, but this could be lost on some people
Wait are both shirts long sleeved?

Who are all these pants wearing long sleeve wearing people!
My arms haven't fit in sleeves in 4 years...
I don't wear long sleeves. I've even after years of looking found the official Nike coaches jacket without the sleeves.
Getting swole?
For all that is good and holy STOP with the white effect! Let PSU have their thing (so we can stop hearing about how its their thing and its better than when we do it)
Its about selling T shirts
I'm tired of the white effect. It isn't a school color and we end up wearing damn away uniforms for a home game.
The stripes will probably fail.
I think it's a cool idea I just hope the fans can execute it.
I like the effect games (except the white effect/poncho effect we seem to have every year). I think the stadium looks good when the fans are all wearing the same color.
But at the same time I wish we wouldn't do them so much. I love the way the crowd looks with no effect. Just a crowd of like 3/4 maroon with 1/4 orange sprinkled throughout the stadium. I think that looks best especially on a sunny day in the fall. It makes the crowd match the trees.
Just show us the new uniforms please.
When the recruits modeled the new unis in the past, was that at the spring game weekend? I'm excited to see what they are and I'm sure the recruits would be hype to wear them.
Just wait until Ford's official visit.
That would be nice but I think Whit said we wouldn't see them until summer.
Thanks to global warming, summer should start right around mid-April.
Followed immediately by the annual Finals Morning Blizzard/Afternoon Heat Wave in May.
The stripes are a great idea that is being poorly executed. If you can't afford to give out the shirts for free and leave them on the correct seats to get the desired effect, don't try to do it at all. Expecting 66,000 people to research what color to wear in what section and plan ahead is dumb.
I hope they at least give them flip cards for part of the game.
As was said above, other schools do the striping effect and rely on fan support and awareness to pull it off and they've pulled it off successfully. It is not dumb to expect 66,000 people to know what color to wear in what section because it's being done in other places around the country. So it CAN be done without giving away the shirts for free and placing them on the seats
WILL it be done is a different matter entirely and is something that is unique from fan base to fan base. I'm sure other schools have tried the striping effect but were not successful. We are relying on Hokie Nation to pull through
Idk why but I feel not optimistic about it. I feel like there's not enough organization or effort to pull it off
I think I remember a WVU friend telling me they put "WEAR YELLOW/BLUE" on their physical tickets for their stripes game.
I didn't realize WVU fans could read.
They're probably color coded shirt pictures.
Couldn't it be put on the tickets? "Please wear maroon/orange" (Depending on the section)
Is this a hint that the new uniforms will still have shoulder stripes?(*ducks*)
The entire uniform is going to be just one vertical tri-stripe head to toe.
Racing stripe! I like it
::ducks::
Invent the future
Nm
I love the striped stadium look. hope it gets pulled off well.
I, like voiced above, hope to all that is sacred in the holy land of Sacksburg hope the White Effect game gets dumped. Not only does it have absolutely nothing to do with VT but it usually means we play away uniforms at a home game, which is stupid. Stop. Please stop.
Looking at the striped Lane Stadium....have seats been added on the field behind the North EZ?
marching virginians?
Those have been there for years. That's where the MV's sit.
I thought the seats in the graphic were below where the MVs sit.
nope.. take another glance during the spring game / next time you're in Lane. The MV's seats are actually inside the concrete wall that arcs between the E and W stands. That's why they kind of stick out in this graphic.
Gotcha. I guess I never really looked too closely.
I see the orange section and the maroon section, but no section for people like me; shirtless, covered in bourbon and turkey leg grease
This guy fucks.
Whoa whoa whoa!
Bourbon goes on the inside where it can make you feel all warm and fuzzy.
This is the same school which one of the two major online fan communities is stuck in a 1995 design because its user base completely and adamantly refuses to adapt... And we expect people to find a link on a website to let the school tell them which color to wear?
This is the same school that took multiple years of trying before the Orange Effect really started to get pulled off well because older alumni refused to accept that orange is one of our colors. To this day we still can't get those games completely oranged out because of these people. And we expect these people to log into a website to find out what color to wear?
Yeah... this isn't going to work. As much of a big tech school we are, we can be very internet illiterate sometimes.
Maybe people just want to wear what they want to wear and don't care about how it looks for TV. I don't give a flying fuck if the whole stadium wears maroon, orange, white or whatever. I am one of the "older alumni" (but not that old) that started going to games in the early 90s when the stadium was 1/2 full. I want to go to the game, have fun, hopefully see the Hokies win. I don't derive any sort of fun from what people wear, and I frankly don't understand why this is such a focus.
I hear ya. I see both sides of it but it just seems gimmicky to me. Just show up and be loud. That's how fans can impact the game.
Because TV viewership matters ALOT. It's how Tech pays its sports bills, it's how kids who Tech might recruit will see Tech most of the time.
They show the ENTIRE crowd only a couple of times during each telecast. Many times they show a section or a couple of individuals. Mainly you HEAR the crowd.
I don't watch a game to see what the fans are wearing. Does anyone say, "Dude you've got to put this game on the whole crowd is wearing orange!!" I don't think so. You watch the game to see a great team, a great product, an exciting game. Winning gets more tv slots, and more eyeball, and more interest. Not color coordination
When Tennessee checker boarded the stands it made news not just the entire state but I've gotten google results from USA Today, SB Nation, ESPN, Saturday down south, sec network, 247 etc. not to mention the recruting uses look at how Tech has used the "This is Home" card stunt.
I don't know about you guys. But it isn't the rivalries that get me excited. The hated teams, the hated coaches., the chance for revenge, or to keep a winning streak going.. It isn't the bowl imprivations, the ACC title implications, the national title implications that get me pumped. It isn't Enter Sandman, or big plays, great moments. It's whether we're all wearing the same T-shirt. If we're not all wearing the same T-shirt then I don't even know why we're playing. Nothing like color coordination to get me jacked.
We get it, you don't like effect games.
Leave it to the millennials to be so worried about T-shirt color at a sporting event
Leave it to millennial haters to get mad online about people wearing T-shirts.
It's like we care about Tech having an identity. A national fan base or something.
Kids growing up forming a fan relationship are extremely worried whether everyone is color coordinated
They're more likely to think it's a cool idea than to be genuinely opposed to it.
Seeing a fan out wearing Tech colors matter. Go to the states with massive fan bases and look at what they do in team colors. Hell I've seen fire trucks painted in team colors. This is part of a scheme to get fans wearing team colors and doing it in a way that looks great in pictures and on TV.
Not a millennial hater at all. But this is the most millennial thing to be worried about, as the stereotypes go
Ah we've found the next thing us Millennials have ruined... football pageantry. Mission Accomplished.
Actually that sounds like a good idea for a t-shirt.
Attributing something you don't like to "the millennials" isn't the best look if you're trying not to seem like someone who dislikes millennials.
Wait-so what's it called when millennials hate or dislike millennials??
As a millennial who hates the millennial stereotype and has to interact with people who fit it to a tee, I'd like to know this as well.
I just call them bitches. I get so many people at work that whine at me (in friendly jest) for my generation despite me being the opposite of the stereotype. I've seriously never had avocado toast or a soy latte, AMA.
I've eaten avocado toast and own a house. The trick is making it yourself instead of paying through the nose for it at brunch.
Come at me boomers.
#Facts
And put some Korean hot sauce on that homemade avocado toast. Sriracha also works, but it isn't as good.
This is the most millennial I've ever acted and I'm 26.
I'm a black pepper man myself but I'll give that a try.
poached egg or bust
Add a turkey leg for seasoning
I think the term is "old millennials", which is actually worse. I'm in the same boat though.
Making this into a millennial thing is the most Gen-X/Baby Boomer thing ever.
Just remember Millennial Haters.... you bought a lot of pet rocks...
I know this is a joke, but aren't the people who seem so gung ho about it, such as Alum07, in fact millennials? And when did the Effect games start? I believe that would be during the millennial generation (correct me if I'm wrong). So yes I believe it is factual to blame this on the millennials.
lol I have literally made only 1 previous comment in this thread, basically saying to expect our fanbase to get on board with this essentially because some people think our only school color is maroon and another who doesn't 'get' the internet, and now I'm the leading spokesman for this? Oooooh and I'm the leading spokesman for millennials?
What an honor. Need to get my avocado toast and light skim frappe while keeping my nose buried in my iPhone Snapshatting with all my peeps, right?
Nubinile was born in 1977, Hokie since 1995, and I am all for anything that puts the nation's eyes on the Hokies. All of it. Effect games. Special helmets. Thursday nite! Softball against the USA. Hokie Golfers in the pros. All of it.
Thurs nite, Notre Dame, the 'Burg, I would be disappointed if they did NOT have something effect oriented. They do it for the likes of ECU and Marshall.
I am no millennial. Where's my Atari 2600?
With those beliefs, you are 100% millennial.
I mean at this point, if you ever order starbucks or own a smartphone, you're a millennial and absolutely the reason this country is getting terrible.
Apparently I'm an "Xennial"
Its fits because I was raised without social media and the internet but appreciate the value of life with/without them.
The Effect games started while I was there in the early 2000s, which would be the sub-generation that currently has an identity crisis. We were always too young for GenX, and were originally grouped into the millennials. But then, we got pushed into that in-between spot (which is fine by me, because I don't identify with the younger millennials.)
I believe we're called Gen Y (or WHY). Also, the Millennial was considered to begat at the conclusion of the 70s ('77-'79ish) which would accurately classify us as Millennial Alpha (the youngers being Millennial Beta).
There is no way anyone who was born in the 70s is even remotely considered a Millennial in any common, current-day colloquial sense of the term.
Check it.
Millennials started in the early 80s I will die on this hill. If you're old enough to remember Nirvana when Kurt Cobain was still alive when you were in middle school or later you're not a Millennial.
Well, apparently some experts out there, disagree with ya.
And the majority of them agree with me.
Not the point. And just because a majority align with your analysis doesn't end the discussion.
Just as your assertion that because a couple of researchers say that Millennials were first born in the late 70s doesn't make it true.
And I'm ok with that (as you're ok on "your hill"). It really wasn't my assertion. I was just regurgitating (even in my original comment) what others have said. And how do we know it's only a couple? Could be more. I have zero doubt it's a greater number than the sum of persons that show up to the LOLUVA Festivus.
For what it's worth, I said "current-day, colloquial sense of the term". Although I will concede that it is funny to imagine a 41 year old man calling himself a Millennial and then correcting everyone who disagrees by saying, "Well, according to Nielsen Media Research and MetLife, I am a Millennial. So ha!"
There's actually a term for this, Xennials, the sub-generation between Gen-X and Millenials. It makes sense in my opinion.
Link
It's anecdotal, but I know someone born in 1976 who typifies being a millennial better than anyone else I've seen: spends money on travel, starbucks coffee, frou frou foods (avacodo toast, no joke), the newest iphone and complains about not being able to pay all her bills. She still has crushing student debt at age 42 from trying to prolong adolescence by getting more degrees in majors that had few viable employment prospects (english, drama). She didn't get a full time job til age 38 and even then it was as an adjunct professor so she could still get winter/summer off. Millennial isn't an age, it's an immature, entitled state of mind.
Well you know what they've been saying: 40=New 30, 30=New 20 & 20 is the new 10.
And a huge waste of a life. Grow up and be a productive part of society.
Not all of them are "huge wastes of society" just like not all "boomers & xers" are drains on SS. I'm certain there are stats that prove BOTH.
Haha damn bro, relax. Am I a drain on society? I pay my taxes, own a home that I can afford, have never spent a night in jail, and vote in almost all elections, both local and national. There's a reason why murder/crime rates are continuously going down, higher education rates are at an all time high, and why human rights have never been in a better place than where they are now. These can be attributed to millenials and every other generation together.
It's also a relatively collectively accepted economic concept that in 10-15 years, the housing market will be much more stable due to the low ownership levels of millennials, thus not incurring loans that they can't afford and avoiding the massive amount of defaults that lead to the housing bubble bursting.
The millennial vs. every other generation argument is basically just a product of negative news being at the forefront of the news. Every one wants to talk about how the world is going to shit, but in reality this is the safest, most socially advanced time in history, and the people of the world, of all ages, are driving that.
Nothing says "be a productive part of society" like telling people they are a waste of life.
Seriously? In what world is this shit called for? Jesus christ.
Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Yeah, millennials are the immature ones.
But really? I mean you know one person that didn't get a full time job until they were 38? What about those of us that had full time gigs locked down before we even graduated like myself? What about my wife who has been busting her ass in law school for three years? Are we immature and entitled?
Just think for a minute about what you're saying and ask yourself who really are the entitled ones.
just think for a minute about what I'm saying and ask yourself what my point was. Take a deep breath and go back and read it. First I said millennial is a stereotype that clearly doesn't apply to all people in the age range because I am one, technically, but don't share in the stereotype. Then I elaborated by sharing about someone outside the age range who fits the stereotype. Saying "Millennial isn't an age, it's an immature, entitled state of mind." in my mind is a tautological statement. If you are immature and entitled, you are the millennial stereotype, no matter what age you are.
I understood you and was exactly my point too.
Second only to sucking social security dry.
Leave it to millennials to be so sensitive they have to downvote comments. This was a thread in direct response to cracks about "older alumni" and picture of people saying Get Off My Lawn but you don't see those getting downvotes. There's a term for overly sensitivite people as well.
Let the record show I haven't downvoted any of your comments.
Be mad about people cracking jokes about crotchety old alumni all you want. All you've done is prove them right.
All they've done is proven me right with the downvotes
Then what do you make of your original replies to Alum07 getting upvoted? People being "overly sensitive" about your stance on the effect games isn't what led us to this point.
The joke was made that my stance was based on age, and it's been upvoted like crazy. I'm 42, not exactly ancient. I made a joke about a younger generation being the one driving the whole effect train, it gets downvoted into oblivion. How are the two jokes different?
I replied the way I did because you had made your point well in the previous conversation with Alum, but then you decided to overplay your hand while simultaneously sounding exactly like the type of person Alum was talking about in the first place. Someone getting riled up enough to type that whole comment out over T-shirts is funny to me.
Yeah... I couldn't resist
Should I downvote opinions? No
Will I downvote opinions that are blatantly false and slanderous? Without hesitation
Can we knock off the ageist back-&-forths please? I thought this thread was supposed to be about Effect games.
"There's a term for overly sensitivite people as well"
That term is "Baby Boomers". It a fact that, as men reach retirement age and beyond, the decrease in their natural production of testosterone leads them to be overly-sensitive, and at times irrational. Additionally, the loss of physical abilities due to aging can lead to feelings of losing control of things. Feelings of being left behind by technology or becoming obsolete contribute to the feeling of loss of control. At the same time, the fog of memory causes memories of "the good times" to be significantly better than they actually were, while the "bad stuff" gets glossed over. After retirement, people tend to get set in their ways which leads to less observing and adapting to changing conditions, which in turn leads to an inability to perceive how the world has changed and how it affects those still struggling in the workforce and trying to make ends meet. This also tends to lead to a misperception of the current reality that younger people face, where objective, rational observation of the current state of things is replaced by a "back in my day" attitude.
All of this leads to Boomers lashing out at those who are younger than them, just like their elders did when they were young. It is all cyclic. Neither side is "right", but one side seems to love shitting on the other a bit too much while glossing over the problems that they themselves have caused. All of this while Millennials will be the first generation in a very long time to have it worse than their parents.
And for the record, I am in my forties, so I am not a Millennial. I just get tired of them always getting blamed for having the audacity to like stuff and wanting a fair shake.
The term I was referencing is snowflake. And not in a political sense. But that would get downvotes into oblivion also. I guess it's ok to joke about old people but not millennials? And they get mad about stereotypes? By the way I agree with your statements, I defend the younger generation and I believe they work hard, are not slackers, don't look for participation trophies, etc. but the definitely are sensitive to jokes, at least the ones here are.
I mean come on now...
WE ARE NOT SENSITIVE TO JOKES! /s
You are just getting downvoted because you are being an asshole.
Step away from the
shovelkeyboard, let it go. Let's reconvene in a different thread with a new topic.Note to self: Stop clicking on this thread.
Call me crazy, but I will definitely take the atmosphere/look of Lane on an Effect game over a non-Effect. They show unity and dedication in the fan base, while also having an intimidating look. The money from the shirts also go towards the Student Government, which does a ton for the current students on campus because of the money they have raised from these shirts since 2002.
Tech fans should be proud they can pull off Effects, UVA, UNC, Duke, UMD, etc. could never do so - unless it was a Silver Out.
Non-Effect:

Effect:

Orange effect for a night game is gorgeous.
Yeah. For Halloween (& October in general).
Orange effect definitely looks cool at night.
What does the student government do/done?
If this is a serious question, it might be worth exploring their website to learn how much they actually do with state legislators, President Sands/University Administration, Alumni Association, Athletics, Student Affairs, etc.
They also were the ones who hosted the April 16 Community Picnic after the 3.2 for 32 run for the past decade and give funding/support to other major student activities like The Big Event and Relay for Life.
Millennial started this website...
Me: Hey look, the Effect thread blew up, what's going on in he.....
Yup it's the offseason.
I'm good with the color coordinate (mainly & mostly Maroon). I also understand those that don't wish to participate. My only complaint were 2 examples used in the thread (Tenn & LOLWVU, couldn't we have used others?). Also, I'm presuming the Corps of Cadets are excused from this?
Here are some more, which I would argue Oklahoma and Penn State are much more tradition-based and pulled it off quite well:
Oklahoma

Penn State

Iowa

Other than the fact that I've got an unmitigated grudge against the Hawkeyes & the other is Paterno St U (which I associate with the white-out effect), much better. Thanks.
This entire thread is the most off-season thing ever.
Just wait til the uniforms are unveiled
At least those have an effect on the game...
Leg for reference, but god damn that and the game always freaks me out.
I don't get it. Must be a Millennial thing...
Have heard they are π₯.
At least we'll have the World Cup to talk abo-
Fuck.
#toosoon
#ThanksVirginia
For those who aren't aware...
#loluva gave us #lolUSA? seems about right.
Whew. Anywaysss...if you have time/bored as hell, look up an 90s game (or even better, a 90s/early 2000s NASCAR race) and whenever they pan the stands, take notice. It is utterly astonishing how many white t-shirts were made back then. Like an old Talladega race, holy smokes EVERYONE in the stands and infield had on a white tee. When did clothing manufacturers begin make colored t-shirts? Because damn.
That was even the case at Lane in the 90's and early 2000's.
Thank you for acknowledging my comment...I didn't think anyone could hear me down here.
That is against Arkansas State. What quarter and what is the score?
12:10 left in the first quarter, Hokies up 7-0. But what's that got to do with the number of white t-shirts?
This is where I would add that Will Smith gif from MiB.
I got you.
No, not that one (although it's also applicable). I mean the one where he was telling the farmer's wife to fix up her place.
Oh, and hire yourself an interior decorator for this place, cause *looks around the room* 'damn'.
No gif.
Yeah, I can't find that one. I tried. LOL
I found it! Looks like it was recorded on a potato but it counts.
Haha, thx. I was about to grab the clip from YouTube (you know, that thing that's widely used by millennials but was created by GenExers, Millennials according to some researchers).
They probably started making colored t-shirts around the time those damn millennials started going to games.
Y'all, this thread got pretty off topic, but let's all β Millennial, Generation X, Baby Boomer, etc... β come together for a moment and remember that UVA β a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA men's basketball tournament β lost to No. 16 seed UMBC.
Your profile says you were born in 1900. That falls into The Lost Generation. Sad!

Striping can work as long as fans don't scalp their tickets to ND fans. Need to sell out before ND can buy any tickets.
Original post has been edited to include the new White Effect (Military Appreciation Day) shirt design.

Anyone else notice that the jersey design is a little different?
Not sure how much to read into that. It's a student design...so not sure it carries any weigh or foreshadowing.
So if its accurate (considering it's white effect/military appreciation) it would be white jersey, maroon color and orange piping/detailing? Also not sure how much to read into it since the above shirts show the old uniform, plus it could be the current white jersey just striping is different for whatever reason.

Anyone know where I can get last season's white effect shirt?
I just want to reiterate that the white effect being our one nationally televised night game this year is one of the lamest ideas our athletic department has ever had.
You're just mad you're going to have to wear a white shirt
You got me
Just wear your Curry jersey. You know you want to.
I agree white outs should only happen if white is one of your primary colors
What's the issue? YOU don't like it? So what. Are you going to the game?
Sheesh. Practically every white out game I've seen on TV has been awesome. I mean I can't actually remember one that I didn't think to myself "that's pretty sweet."
Strong disagree. I do agree that White Out for say, Penn State, look amazing as one of their primary colors is white so everyone participates.
For VT, we kind of 55% wear white, 30% maroon, 15% orange is it looks stupid.
Whiteout works for schools that can actually pull it off.
VT has proven, repeatedly, for I don't know how many years now, that we can't. It winds up being the most pathetic white out I've seen every time we attempt it.
To be fair, it's been basically nooners against a FBS opponent, not night time against a conference foe.
On the bright side, rain games always make for good TV.
The white effect shirt this year is terrible and you can't easily find it on the bookstore website. We really dropped the ball this year.
