Former 3* DT recruit, didn't see any playing time last year as far as I can tell but DT depth is a sore spot already.

Didn't see playing time because he was redshirting, I'm guessing. He referenced "the next four years of [his] eligibility" in the message.
Could be, but his HokieSports profile doesn't mention a redshirt and he's listed as a Sophomore:

Who knows? Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
That's a bummer, thought he could develop in a guy that cracked the 2 deep.
Here's to hoping Hewitt, Burke, Fullwood, Taylor, Goode, or Porcher can make big strides this year to be ready to go when Walker and Mihota leave this year. Hoping we can land Adarious Jones and another stud DT to provide some much needed depth. Without strong DT play, will be tough to get to that playoff I think we are capable of in 2019 or 2020.
This is Taylor's 3rd year in the program. Time for him to be solidly in the two-deep in my opinion, based on his recruitment/potential coming out of HS - he is not a walk on or flyer type player- If he is not in the rotation this fall, he may never be.
Wasn't a name I had heard in regards to transferring, so this could potentially open up an extra scholarship for this class. Hopefully the staff will take Beamon or Smiley now.
Smileys tape looks just like a Wiles DT. I don't understand the hold up
I don't either. All this talk of 4* recruits not being automatic takes just flys over my fucking head
I think we were over our scholarship limit because I swear I saw that this move put us at 85?
I think this where we say the numbers always work out. best of luck to Mr Glaze wherever he goes.
Best of luck to him! Sad to see any Hokie leave the team.
Those capitalization choices, though...
Didn't pack on the weight needed for DT and wanted to play DE which is deep is what I recall hearing
That is Porcher, not Glaze.
Disappointed he is leaving, but it sounds like he thought hard about it and knows he isn't going to get the playing time he wants here. Very respectful in his message and therefore I wish him well.
hhmmm...Sometimes players just want to be closer to home. Assuming thats the case, but another could be that he just wasn't cutting it. I barely heard his name being mentioned for DT. I kept hearing Walker, Mihota, Hewitt and Burke for the two-deep and Fullwood for the 5th. If he's not in the top 5 plus having Cam Goode coming in, it just may not be in the cards and I think maybe he was a little big for Defensive End,
Clay Dean got on the field before Glaze.
The rotation was
Walker (replaced by Hewitt)-Burke
Hewitt-Taylor (Dean played in Taylor's spot)
Fullwood-Dean (when Dean moved up, Taylor moved down.)
If Glaze played before the last series, I didn't notice him. He was in when Hooker hit Smith on the last play of the scrimmage.
Something something the numbers always work out, I guess.
Our basketball team has zero scholarships "available" yet Buzz is recruiting JUCOs like Jerry Maguire recruited Ron Tidwell. Numbers will work out.
Looks like I'm counting about 7 DTs according to HokieSports with Cam Goode On his way:
1.Mihota
2.Walker
3.Hewitt
4.Burke
5.Fullwood
6.Jimmy Taylor
7.Porcher
Ouch...how do I insert a Pic, tried to insert the screenshot from HokieSports
I think Clay Dean was playing some there Sat . I know he is listed as OL but he was playing DT could be wrong .
Becton coming in could be a guy who ends up at tackle down the road .
Time to offer Ben Smiley!
No clue why the staff isn't high on Beamon or Smiley when we offered Glaze. Looking at his tape coming out of school, he was never going to be a contributor.
Some of our evals have been confusing to say the least, but at least the staff seems like they're willing to cut their losses and get out with the guys they know will never contribute
