According to Jason La Confora, its quite possible that Terrell has been rising up some draftboards due to his size and athleticism and could join Tremaine late in the 1st round.

No chance. Terrell's lucky if he goes day 2.
My pro team's board has the head of Ourlads put up profiles of the prospects at his position. Here is where Terrell fell:
24 – Terrell Edmunds – Virginia Tech – 6'0/217 – GRADE: 67
He wasn't even given a write-up. This is just one opinion, and I don't see eye to eye with this guy all the time, but I can't believe that he would be that far off the mark.

Just say you were reverse jinxing...
This didn't age well. Give all these Turkey Legs back.... /s
Honest disclosure: I thought LaCanfora was full of shiRt when Bitter retweeted his "I'm hearing..." tweet last week. I'll share some of that crow.
I hope not because the Raiders currently only have 1 pick in the first. however if they trade back to whoever wants to nab a qb before the fins this could happen...
If there are two attributes NFL teams covet more than the others, it is size & athleticism. I wouldn't bet on him going in the first round just based on his injury history, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if he did get drafted in the first round.
Possible: yes
Likely: no
EDIT: I prognosticated and was dead wrong. Never underestimate the power of Edmundi! Maybe I could stand in for any other ESPN talking head . Never been happier to be wrong.
If you want a dark horse pick for Terrell in the first it's the Steelers. They pick late, need a SS, value versatility and athleticism like Terrell has at the position, and had their whole coaching and management team at VT's Pro Day (probably more to look at Tremaine too but this is a move that is NOT normal for them unless they're really serious about someone).
I wouldn't call it likely but I would not be shocked at all if they call his name if the ILBs and RBs are off the board. They also have a history of drafting guys they like significantly earlier than the mock draft "experts" have them pegged.
I hate the Steelers but I'm always on board with them drafting our guys. They're in good hands in Pittsburgh.
You win.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
THAT comment REALLY held up.
I hope you went to Vegas
Not gonna say I called it but...yeah
Spot on. Well done.
How has this not gone plaid yet?
It is low-key possible. Don't sleep on his ridiculous combine numbers.
Saw him at the Roanoke Hokie Club dinner last year and I am shocked someone has larger hands than him. Those are some massive paws.
As big as Boykin's? Those are legendary
Yeah, they were 6'7", IIRC.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL gloves if memory serves me.
The Rotoworld article lists him at 6'0" on the profile then just down the page in the write up lists him as 6'2". From my own eyes and pictures, he is closer to 6'0" than 6'2". I would think his athleticism will be a better asset than his size.
That was previously brought up here. (Last comment)
CBS Sports 27 first round locks
CBS Sports has him as a possible first rounder too
No it can't happen, all these guys on this site and twitter said there's no chance. Surely they know more than the scouts!
/s
What scouts are putting Terrell Edmunds in the 1st round?
The scouts Jason La Canfora is talking to.
Have people never seen this movie before? There are probably 150 names being thrown around by scouts (mostly for disinformation) as "possible" first rounders - of which maybe 40 are legit.
Sorry, but Terrell Edmunds is not one of those 40.
That comment really held up.
Guess he was one of those 40...
sup
Could this be something where he will either go 1st round or drop to 3rd/4th depending on if a specific team wants him badly enough in the 1st round?
Possible yes. Probably not. What are the odds?
Slim to none. And closer to none than slim.
In other words, not as good as UMBC beating UVa...
That was the best Little Caesars pizza ever eaten by a sober person.
It is always better when they sprinkle the free on it.
Was the pizza free, or was it prepaid with wahoo tears?
No way!! UMBC beat UVA?
I doubt that he'll go in the first round, but I've heard his name mentioned a few times from national guys in the past couple of weeks so it seems like he's gaining momentum. Either there's some fire to that smoke or his agent is doing a heckuva job. Anything from rounds 2-5 wouldn't surprise me right now.
I know that Carolina's GM was at VT's pro day and are desperate for at least one, and probably multiple safeties right now. I'm keeping an eye on that late 2nd round pick if they fail to get someone like Reid in the 1st.
I'm having a hard time pinning down where Terrell might fall but if he's there at the end of the 3rd I'd be very upset if the Panthers pass on him.
He will not be there at the end of the 3rd round.
Momentum? C'mon, it's not a horse race with horses overtaking other horses down the home stretch.
Teams have known everything they need and want to know for at least a couple of months. And given how little the combine and workouts generally help guys, probably longer than that.
The rest is just disinformation to muddy the waters for the competition and babble to generate the illusion of a horse race to generate page views.
Your right the Steelers knew they wanted Edmunds after his Pro day.
If someone in the backend of the first round is really in love with Terrell I guess it is a possibility. But Terrell is a tweener. He can play three positions in the NFL and teams value guys who can give them depth at several spots and play special teams. That skillset gave Kyshone Jarrett an opportunity in the NFL. However, first two day picks are usually guys who those teams expect to start. and Terrell has weaknesses that I think negatively impact his potential as a starter (speed and hips at corner/free safety, size at strong safety.) We will see. I hope he gets picked in the first round and shows that he is productive. And, it is possible that he was playing with injury issues all last season before he shut down. But, the player I saw last fall at free safety wasn't an NFL starter at that spot.
Most of the chatter I've heard around Terrell has been exclusively as a strong safety or a hybrid nickel-linebacker type player. I think if it wasn't obvious from film, that people in his camp have communicated to scouts that he was playing out of position last year.
I think 2015-2016 Terrell would have been fine at free safety. Last year, he grew into strong safety size, and his legs didn't come with him.
I 100% agree with this. I actually thought he had a really bright future as an outside corner that season before he bulked up and moved to rover, and then this past season he bulked up even more and was even less suited to be a rangy free safety. After the 2015 UNC game I thought he was a future star at corner.
I never believed the kid we saw this year even allowing for bulking up was the same kid from 2015. I played soccer for a year not being able to use my right foot (knee). Made my left foot really good, but I was in no way the player I was with two feet and honestly perhaps some teammates would have done a better job than I did. Have to imagine the shoulder or whatever the injury was similar. Kid could tough it out but had no business doing so with the NFL a possibility.
But I dunno, the decision to come out surprised me and I thought it was very risky to think he was going to be able to convince people that the tape and the progression through VT secondary spots was showing a guy who when he hit the NFL was going to blossom, not entirely like Kam, but similarly. I thought the decision was based in part to the depth chart guys being lighter more adapted to the coverage responsibilities, whereas the NFL was going to be looking for the size that he and Kam developed over time at VT. So prospects for another year here seemed unlikely to dispel all fears. A great combine, great work ethic, and I think a coach like MT was willing to take the flyer on his long term development and progressions. I think we'll see a strong cover S who can play closer to the line of scrimmage and really excel against the bigger NFL sizes. Might he struggle against the smaller more nimbler slot receivers? Or will the scheme allow him to not worry about that? Should be fun to watch if he gets out there early.
I really felt like AA was going to show a similar career progression. CB, S, S/OLB hybrid. Shows you what the f do I know.
Just got home after my flight. Glad to be wrong.
THAT JUST HAPPENED!!!
No. Chance.
Update: yes
Hell yes!
LET'S GO
HOKIES!!!!
Paging marcb2.... come in marcb2...
He'll be back when there's more optimism and positivity to shut down
No wAy DoEs TeRrELl gO 1St rOuNd
Welcome to the Steelers Nation, 'Rell!!!! Hokies!
...and that moment with Ryan Shazier... wow, no words...
It seems our vocabulary is spreading!
I'm not sure we invented "fam"
We didn't invent it. We just made it cool as hell.
invent the famture
I didn't think that both would be 1st rounders but given that Rell went 1st round I'm glad he decided to leave early. First set of brothers to be drafted in the first round, hokies making history!
I have to imagine this is gonna be an incredible recruiting tool to whip out any time we're recruiting brothers from here on out
paging Carroll and Gallo
Notre Dame just had two offensive lineman drafted in the top ten. That's a damn good pitch they can make to Carroll.
Harry Hiestand the OL coach who cosches those guys just left for the Bears.
not saying that isn't a good pitch but the pitch I was talking about was us having brothers drafted.
Fuente be all
Makes you wonder what would have happened if Jerod, Bucky, and Ford stayed another year. Our draft class would be loaded
Yes...and imagine if Drew Harris had stayed in school also...
When is coming? Should be soon right?
RIP to the people who suggested Terrell was stupid to leave early and would be a late round pick at best.
Who would have ever thought that your logic based around other, completely independent and separate individuals, falling in previous drafts would somehow affect where the Edmundi would be drafted, would turn out to be so misguided...
I hope croots witnessed history tonight from VT. Did anyone see Bud or Fuente? I was hoping we got some airtime.
I saw Bud sitting at the table in a background shot when they were showing another player but that's it. I was also flipping between this and the NBA so I might have missed it but I don't think I saw them spend any time with coaches this time around. In fact, they seemed to spend a lot less time showing shots of the green room period (with the exception of Lamar Jackson). Regardless of if our coaches were shown, its still a good look for the recruits to have 2 players drafted in the 1st round.
Paging any football playing brothers, come to VT. You'll get to the NFL. Just ask the Edmunds and Fuller families
I saw Fuente in a background shot. I think when Josh Rosen was drafted.
They were not neither during the draft or prior to on the red carpet. Despite them both being interviewed. But guess who they did show, Nick the devil Satan.
Congrats to the Edmunds family, wow!
Mike Tomlin's call to Rell
Terrell talks about getting that call
Pretty hilarious he was in the bathroom when it came in.
