This should be huge for recruiting.
I was talking with Cornelsen in Charlotte last night about it and he said that they intend to tout it quite a bit (and this was before we knew Terrell went too)
I think our recruiting overall has gotten a lot better. Let's keep it up on both sides of the ball
Our recruiting 'improvements' are still fairly TBD. Our player development has always been very strong. I just wish Wiles and Bud could regularly lock down more 4 and 5* guys to start with a higher baseline.

I wonder if it will work out for mook as well. or atleast devin hunter in the future. it worries me about moving hunter to whip because hes such a highly rated recruit and hes moving to a position that doesn't really have an NFL position, although it does highlight what is discussed above.
"Whip" doesn't exist in the NFL like it does at Tech, but you definitely hear about versatility in the secondary with players being able to offer a lot in run support and in pass coverage. The more versatility you put into an offense (pass catching backs and tight ends motioning out wide, wide receiver runs, etc) the more versatility the defense needs to match up, and NFL teams are really valuing that now.
Agreed. Whip is a role in a defense - not a specific talent. A talented player that can excel around the line of scrimmage as well as play coverage schemes can translate this talent to a different role in a defense, provided the talent is applicable.

And honestly the highlight film from that game is probably what got him bumped to first round status. It was a big sales pitch that a shutdown corner was also physical enough to play linebacker at a high level (even if only for one game).

Versatility wasn't recognized in the old NFL. Now, everybody runs spread concepts. You gotta have a linebacker that can cover. Ray Lewis types who lived in the box would struggle. And Lewis did his last few years. Hell, even Motu got range. Glad he signed on at Jacksonville, hope he gets a shot.

Today's NFL is rife with off field politics and corruption. I'm not going down that path. Solely discussing the play on the field.
For all of Motu's faults (and there were few his last year) two things that guy could do in spades was run and catch. I really liked that he chose to run with the safeties in practice to push himself to be faster.
