Hey TKP - it's Friday and it's the last Friday before the unofficial start to summer: Memorial Day!
First, a 'thank you' will never be enough to capture our appreciation those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country. We will be forever grateful.
What are your Memorial Day Weekend plans? BBQ? Beach? Mountains? Baseball? How will you get away from Crazy May?

Cape lookout national seashore, north core banks.

-Finally moving my wife into our new house (been a geographical bachelor since September).
-Yard and house work
-Drinking heavily
-D-Day memorial on Monday
Props to you for that.
FYI it's free admission until noon on Memorial Day.
Got the whole week off coming up so I am first going to Deep Creek, MD for the long weekend and then going on a baseball trip visiting different stadiums for games.
Coming to Wrigley/Comerica?
Chicago is 50/50 for us.... I think we are going to Pittsburgh, then, Cleveland, then Detroit and then possible Comerica on Friday night.
Detroit=Comerica
Yea I am an idiot, when I saw you wrote Wrigley/Comerica, I automatically thought Cubs/White Sox haha.... Detroit most likely yes
Pack up the house and try and get someone to buy it. Move into new house June 2nd so a lot to get done.
We've got ours on the market here in Ohio. Heading out tonight to see the new one in Missouri.
Packing my house to move from Dallas burbs to the city. Hopefully a vacant house will have more appeal.
Back down to Charlotte for Camping, NASCAR, and general shenanigans. I had too much fun last year so I decided to do it again.
There are a couple of VT fans heading to this race, some of my good friends. I almost went with them.
Rock City Campground if they are there early. Tell them to look for my signal which for NASCAR is probably a TKP Flag, NASCAR Flag, and alot of empty Busch Light cans.
Driving from NJ down to the 757 tomorrow and spending Saturday through Tuesday with some Tech friends, driving back home on Tuesday and then taking a trip out to the Pacific Northwest from Wednesday to Sunday. Spending Wednesday and Thursday in and around Seattle (hopefully including Mount Rainier National Park) and then on Friday morning we are taking the Amtrak Cascades up to Vancouver BC to spend Friday and Saturday (my birthday!) there before flying back to NJ from Vancouver. Gonna be a very packed weekend and week, but it's also gonna be so so great.
Ah, that explains the Knights thing.
I am a Devils and NY area sports fan. The schadenfreude over the general ineptitude of the DC-area sports teams is real. The desire to see an expansion team win in its inaugural year is also real. That's some Kaiserslautern level improbability.
Check out the Grove of the Patriarchs and if you have time the Hoh National Forest
Leg for Grove of the Patriarchs. And I'm really sad that I didn't get the chance to visit Hoh.
grove of the patriarchs was easily my favorite part of the trip and up there with coolest things i've ever seen in my entire life!
Glad you got to see it and that you enjoyed it. My best friend from high school works for the park service and previously worked at Mt. Rainier. It was one of his favorite places in the park.
We definitely won't have time for Hoh. We're in Seattle for <48 h and so it was unfortunately picking between MRNP and ONP
This weekend? Oh, let's see....
Uber, sleep, porn, gym, drinking, porn (maybe).....
Ah yeah, & that Capitol Memorial Day Special (tv), as well as moping about our DB depth & hoping+praying for a permanent commit from Knight.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown.

Watching or making?
Well considering the Mrs would never be down for that (& neither would I) it won't be making. But, since she's got a 3 on, one off, 3 on @ the hospital, it's a spectator hobby.
[EDIT] Just in case folks didn't pick up on it, she's an RN. Lmao
Hey!

Annnd that was talking porn.
Working on the house. I've got yard work to do, surfaces to clean, and light fixtures to hang.
I'll be at the ACC baseball championship game in Durham on Sunday. Hoping for good weather!!
Camping at Pipestem with the family. Giving the ole liver a tune up before we leave for the beach next Saturday.
Wouldn't expect anything less from you given your namesake.
You know it fam!
That sounds LIT!
Starting tonight taking the wife out for anniversary dinner (some drinking may or may not be involved).
Tomorrow up to Manistee, stopping at Dublin General store to buy brauts (for the freezer), then to Mt. Pleasent to the Mennonite store to buy a bunch of lunch meat to use/freeze. That should be all day so by the time we get home I will be ready to go to the American Legion to hang out and some drinking may or may not be involved.
Sunday pick up a keg of beer and break out the grill and borrow my neighbor's smoker to try my hand at smoking turkey legs. Depending on how well it goes depends on the amount of drinking that may or may not be involved.
Monday recovery and yard work.
Edit: Live in Michigan in case you don't recognize place names.
Why did the Amish prostitute quit her job?
To many Mennonite.
Disc golf tournament all day Saturday
BBQ at my buddy's house Sunday
Yard work all day Monday
Always a leg for DG
Where are you playing on Saturday? I'm playing in a disc golf tournament as well.
Snyder Park in Springfield, OH. It's a preview of a new course that will be going in this summer. BYOP tourney.
Nice. That's cool to get on a new course. I'm playing in a Trilogy Challenge in Durham.
Tf is Trilogy Challenge? I'm in Raleigh and haven't heard of such a thing
Trilogy Challenges are events where you get three unreleased discs (one each from Dynamic, Lat64, and Westside) to use. There's a putter, mid, and usually a fairway. Everybody in the tournament only gets to use those, not anything else from their bag. You keep the discs at the end. Winners get trophies and Lat64Customs gift certificates. There's one at my home course Saturday that I'd play if I wasn't already signed up for the BYOP.
Having a Memorial Day party at my house tomorrow with the neighbors and Danny Coale is My Spirit Animal, Magic Rat, and FlippinHokie. The pork butt and brisket are going on as we speak. The smoked chicken and baked beans will be done tomorrow since they are quick. There will be about 30 or so people here (in a townhouse) so wish me luck!
I am sure it smells delicious.
You are more than welcome to come if you want tomorrow. You know how to get here.
If I wasn't already driving south I would be all about it.
I already told Hagy the chicken may not make it to whenever they show up.
LOL. Maybe I need to do two. Though if you can down a 8 lb chicken by yourself, I will be impressed.
Challenge accepted. I was operating under the assumption I would have help from your neighbors though 😂
Yeah, so I am going to be cooking a 7.5 lb pork butt, 10 lb brisket, and I am going to try to an 8 lb chicken tonight. I might do two just so we can graze on it though the weekend.
🤤
It's always a hassle to get up and out, (3 young boys and wife currently deployed) but I plan on going out to the Badlands for a bit with the kiddos.
Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.
Streaking through the quad confirmed for this guy.
I'll be on I-95 heading south to Wilmington, NC (from DC) for the weekend. So basically, I'll be sitting in traffic all weekend. Hopefully 2 rounds of golf in between.
I would give serious consideration to US-17 if I needed to make a trip south like that on Memorial Day weekend unless I was leaving at 5am each way.
Yea, I have tried every way imaginable. There is no good way. I just use my WAZE app, turn up the music, and hope for the best.
prepping for hurricane season. oh the joys of florida living. already got the first lil depression on the way to ruin any previous plans I had of attending county music 500 at Daytona. may still go and pancho it out well see.
Got intrigued and looked at the lineup. Definitely would sit in the rain on Saturday to see Midland, 38 Special, Billy Currington and Chris Stapleton if I were you.
I went last year and aside from it being humid as heck and 10000 degrees is was a great show! this years line up is pretty good too. its on the infield of the track and its all around just a pretty cool experience and good music and good times. the rain really puts a damper on that though.
Smith Mountain Lake. Probably sitting inside watching it rain all weekend but maybe we'll have a chance to booze cruise at some point.
If we get nice weather, taking the father in laws boat out on Claytor Lake (maybe some fishing).
If the weather is bad, working on drywall in the basement or my pontoon boat in the shop.
I have two sea doos that I got for the price of on the house that I need to get back to work on. I would love to actually take them out this summer.
Going to watch the Champions League final tomorrow and drink a lot of my English bitter that is excellent.
I should also be +15 gallons in homebrew by Monday afternoon. I am kettle souring a gose right now, making a Koelsch using my parents' 20 gallon system, and a NE IPA with Vic Secret, Rakau, and Mosaic LupulN2 powder on Monday!
I was worried how long I was gonna have to go down the thread to find someone say Chapions League.
Allez Allez Allez
Headed to Hilton Head to celebrate Dad's 70th birthday. All he wanted was his kids and grandkids to gather at his favorite spot.
We rented a boat tomorrow (praying away T-storms), and we're grilling him steaks and fish for dinner. Sunday he wants to get Hudson's for lunch.
It's crazy when a parent hits a milestone birthday like this one.
I like the cut of your dad's jib.
My daughter graduates from U of DE tomorrow. Smoking two pork shoulders, two chickens and having a big party! So happy to be done paying tuition.
Fiancé and I are having a Memorial Day party on Sunday. Decently fancy affair. She's wearing a really pretty white dress, and I'll be in a suit. But it'll have everything. A preacher. All our closest family and friends. An open bar. Dancing. A few vows.
Oh, and I'll be sad about Hokie corners too.
You mean you didn't want to do it on a weekend in the fall??
But seriously. Congrats man!
Massanutten Resort..At least I'll be in Virginia and I'll be with some Hokies!!!!
Sleep in every morning
Go up to the top and take a hike on the trail to the summit. Turn to the south and wave, I'll be sure and wave back.
Going on a 3-day backpacking trip with my dad in the Pecos Wilderness near Santa Fe.
"Working" remote from a condo in Ocean City today and then a weekend that is sure to be full of boardwalk bar crawls
Oh man, I once waited in line at Seacrets for over 2 hours on Memorial Day weekend Saturday.
Spending most of Saturday hanging new outdoor lights and prepping the patio/yard for the younger son's HS graduation party next weekend. Grilling and Chilling after. Sunday will be helping a fellow Hokie finish part of his basement and hanging by his pool if it does not rain, followed by having the in-laws over for over cooked mushy food. Monday will taking my just turned 21 year old son, who is making a brief stop home before his internship in Alexandria this summer, on a beer crawl through Winston-Salem. Hoots, Joymonger's Barrell Hall, Foothills (the only one that serves real food), Small Batch, Fiddlin' Fish, and end up at Wiseman. I'll buy him a souvenir tasting glass at the first one and we'll use it to split a flight at each.
Rooster Walk till Sunday morning, head up to SML to continue the party and watch racing ALL. DAMN. DAY. Fucking love this weekend.
Edit: RW10 was incredible. JJ Grey brought the house down. Wood Bros were fantastic. Marcus King and Billy Strings did a set together...oh my word.
I'm crashing HokieEnginerd and LancerHokie's Meat Extravaganza then I'm catching a show at the 930 in DC (Gaslight Anthem). I'm excited for all the reasons.
WOOOO!!!!! Adam has already started the smoker and it smells delish. I am going to make a birthday cake and some other kind of dessert.
Nobody is allowed to WOOOO without me
This sounds like one hell of a party - almost like a mid offseason TKP throwdown!
If you are in the NOVA area, swing on by. It BYOB but I am doing all of the meats. Some of the neighbors are bringing the side dishes. One makes a really good mac and cheese.
Oh shoot - where in Nova?
Unfortunately, I'm out of town this weekend, otherwise, I'd be down to join in!
Gainesville area.
Birthday cake? 🤔😄 WOOOO!!
How much Yuengling are you taking?
Im gonna tell you this right now, this day is dragging some damn ass. There is nobody to do business with and traffic is ass. Why are we open?
Im gonna listen to every primus album except for chocolate factory
Tonight: Solo
Rest of weekend:
Yardwork,
Cleaning the garage,
Cleaning the grill/determining if I can get another summer out of it
Pool with the kids if the weather cooperates
Maybe starting a new wood working project.
Saw it last night. It was fun.
weekend activities..
0. Beer
1. Hiking
2. Autocross
3. Grill & Chill
4. Overwatch / Fortnite / Gran Turismo
Mow lawn for 25 minutes, fry flounder, drink, drink, drink. Stay home and avoid what passes for the holiday crowd in bucolic Mathews.
Thankfully, thinking about this thread jogged my memory. We had a friend's 50th anniversary party to attend that we'd forgotten about. Luckily the oysters and accoutrement were there with us or without us. Fine batch of Rappahannock oysters, but just a few too many Wahoos to be perfect.
Bed rest and fluids for this damn bug I've been fighting for ELEVEN DAYS NOW.
Hatteras!
Landscaping and software testing
Yard work. Yard work. Yard work. Then it's going to rain. That will lead to: yard work. Yard work. Yard work.
Here is FlippinHokie tonight.

Can confirm. Classy AF.
I'm pretty sure this is how you know I belong in the fam.
After hanging with FlippinHokie, Danny Coale is My Spirit Animal, Magic Rat, and of course HokieEnginerd, I am recovering.... I am too damn old to stay up until 4:00 a.m. and then get up at 7:00... Yup 3 hours of sleep after a night of smoked meats, and drinking.... I TRIED to sleep in but that didn't work
I'll be working through Monday, but on Tuesday I plan on visiting the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum.
Cleaning my patio. Grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, and a veggie burger for my wife. Watching The Capitals vs The Golden Knights (if Washington loses to Vegas in the Stanley Cup Finals we will know Fleury was the secret to the strength of the Penguins and not all the other players) and I feel inclined to either watch a Va Tech football game from 2012 or 2014 so I can tell myself our offensive depth, special teams talent, and defensive potential are better than those years were. God bless our military and our country!
Prepping to move back to NC in a storm
Apparently my rainy Memorial Day will consist of taking kids to indoor fun warehouse with arcade and bounce houses and multiple trips to Home Depot to get moving supplies.
Had a great 5 day weekend camping trip with the family that consisted of blue crabs, bike riding, kayaking, swimming, putt putt, and a lot of beer and campfire
My memorial day weekend was spent with a cold/sinus infection that will not fucking let go, wife had it worse than me, 4 year old was just getting over his cold, and a 6 month old puppy to deal with. Was not a fun time.
