FWIW, the team would be spending a real draft pick on him, albeit in 2019.
So if hes not drafted in the supplemental, would he just have to wait until next years draft?
From what I have been able to discern if he is not selected via the supplemental draft he would be eligible to sign as a free agent.
Edit: 2017 Supplemental Draft - This article summarizing last year's selection-less supplemental draft indicates that eligible players who are not selected there are immediately eligible to sign free agent deals.
I would imagine that he'd immediately become an undrafted free agent, but I don't know for sure.
Yea that makes more sense and is better for the player.
