Congrats, everyone. Been a long, long time for you and you'll remember this night forever. Enjoy it, the hockey world is legitimately happy for y'all. More than anything I'm happy for Ovi. Everyone deserves this kinda night and I'm glad you all finally got yours.

Also, should you be wanting to more publicly display your Caps pride on TKP, I had thrown this together before the finals, just in case. Once again, congrats! (you can save the image for a 310x310 copy, but if you click it, it'll link you to a 85x85 you can use for your TKP avatar.)

Oh one other thing... Buy as much Champs crap as you can early. Fanatics (who handles NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB online stores) doesn't restock worth a damn, and they seriously underestimate how much demand there is for a long suffering base. They sold out almost immediately for the Super Bowl and still haven't really restocked.

Fanatics doesn't restock worth a damn

My girlfriend led their WMS implementation. Their supply chain department is worthless and doesn't understand technology, with the except one very nice, overworked, underpaid person.

Everyone I have spoken with on the phone who works there is a genuinely nice person. They're always friendly and ready to help, which is a rarity in this day of lowest common standard practices of customer service.

Its just a shame their systems itself are so flawed. I tried to order a jacket after the Eagles won the SB, and the first time they sent it, it was labeled as the wrong size, so I got it replaced, and the one I was sent was the wrong jacket altogether (the correct graphic, but printed on the wrong item, creating an item they don't sell). I wished I could have used another retailer, but Fanatics pretty much has a monopoly online, so....

They also do a lot of order fulfillment for other websites. Anything you order off of NFLshop.com for example, is stocked/shipped from a fanatics distribution center. Right now they only have two distribution centers - one in jacksonville and one in Ohio (I think a new one coming in Kentucky too). I think their ops team just isn't prepared for the volume after the superbowl; I recall my girlfriend telling me about similar problems during the previous superbowl.

Its not just the NFL. They also run the NHL Store, MLB Shop, and the NBA Store, which you can tell based on the 'a Fanatics Experience' when you go to those websites. (which is why I don't even bother going to the league sites anymore, Fanatics.com has it all in one place).

What gets me is that they apparently have also cornered the market on Championship apparel. All Super Bowl merch was Fanatics branded, and I saw last night that the Stanley Cup merch is Fanatics as well. So they're basically the lone creator, merchandiser, and retailer for all these leagues, and they've already shown they can barely handle the demand once it goes live. They ran out of jerseys with the SB patch within minutes of the final whistle and haven't restocked outside of S and XXXL since. If you're hoping to get something for the Caps, I suggest buying now, because my experience is that it just won't last. (I also suggest just buying the patch and sewing it onto your existing jersey like I did in 2006, but that's beside the point)....

ALL CAPS!!!

We put the K in Kwality

Even though I'm not a "true" hockey fan, I always want the Caps to win because they are the home town team.

But what I really wanted this championship for is the REAL Capitals fans, who are great and loyal fans who have suffered through more disappointment than almost any fan base ever and still remained loyal.

Congrats guys, you and your team did it!

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

What's better than a Stanley Cup Final? Boobs and a Stanley Cup final.

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

I've been watching since the Langway, Hunter, Miller days...HELL YEAH! STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Hell yes! Please bring them back to help celebrate! I'm been a fan for about 42 of the 44 years.

I worried this day wouldn't come for Ovi and Backy. Unbelievable how everyone brought it. And Eller, kicked that penalty monkey's ass with the go ahead goal.

ALL CAPS! IT'S LIT FAM!

Caps fans brought it in Vegas tonight...had to be thousands of them...FAM!!!

But I thought the Caps had no chance against the Lightning?

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

CaPs cApS CAPS!

ALLCAPS!

Good on ya Caps.

One of the rare Cup finals where honestly I would have been fine with either team winning. Happy for #8 so people can stfu. His name is on the Cup now.

From a Philly fan, welcome to new territory. The whole offseason is now "how do we do it again?" And it makes for a great time

Was too glued to the TV watching everything to come to the FAM thread...

BUT DAMMIT WE DID IT! ALL CAPS!

I find that I don't really have the words... Incredible, just incredible.

ALL CAPS!!!

What a savings

Congratulations from this Flyers fan who hopes that one day his team will do the same (not looking like it'll be anytime soon, sadly.....)

But seriously, it's a great feeling. Speaking from my post Super Bowl experience, you get so much more chill about sports in general, and the offseason is shorter, and it's just the best. Always sympathized with the Caps the most out of any of the DC franchises, and happy for Ovechkin, who I've always liked more than Crosby. Enjoy this, y'all.

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

The offseason being shorter...you aren't kidding.

When I woke up that Thursday of the NFL draft, I was like 'What...already?"

Then I remembered that's what happens when you finish the season on Feb 4th with a W. My wife has even commented how chill I have been about sports since then. I have been able to see the Eagles and Phillies win, and I really want to see the Flyers hoist the Cup. But I am a content Philly fan at the moment.

And my 4 year old son wants to wear his Eagles t-shirts to pre-school all the time, which really makes me as happy as the Super Bowl win.

That was amazing. Never felt elation like that from a televised sport.

I'm still in shock. 40 years of heartbreak, so-close, underachieving...to this!

Way to go Caps. As a DC area kid, the Caps were the only home team I rooted for. Even though I don't have time to actually watch hockey any more, I'm excited for the team nonetheless.

β€œYou got one guy going boom, one guy going whack, and one guy not getting in the endzone.”
― John Madden (describing VT's offense?)

I'm just sad I can no longer say the Caps haven't won a thing. I don't mind seeing them win, but I had a pretty solid argument when my friends who are Caps fans bust my balls about rooting for Pittsburgh.

So a fellow VT alum buddy of mine is the biggest CAPS fan I know, he had an article on him in the Washington Post about his 15 year tour of all the stadiums in the NHL to see his CAPS play at every venue. The last venue he had to visit was Vegas, and he saved a good one for last. His dream was to see his CAPS win the cup, and he flew all the way from DC 2 days ago to not only finish off his tour of stadiums, but to see his CAPS win it all. I swear this guy needs to write a book on this story of his, SO freaking happy for him (link below):

He wanted to see the Caps play in every NHL arena. His 15-year journey ends tonight in Vegas.
Ben Boggs began to travel with the Caps Road Crew in 2003, a March bus trip to see Washington face the New Jersey Devils. It only took one trip with the group for him to set a goal: see the Capitals play in every NHL arena.

This Rangers fan tips my hat to all my of you. The meme of Ovi lifting the golf bag now is retired.

I just hate some of the former Caps players who were really nice to me and my family (in particularly Jeff Halpern, Mike Green, Tomas Vokoun, and Brooks Laich) were not part of it. Those guys were all incredibly gracious with their time when we ran into them at Kettler.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Lemme find out French is a blueshirt fan. That's sup. I know a lot of the old CAPS players showed up last night, I think there was a shot of Ollie the Goalie holding the cup. I'm sure they'll have their moment for the parade. I'm just glad Ovie got his, because it had to be killing him to see Crosby time after time holding up Lord Stanley.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

FWIW, Ollie is the Professional Development Coach for the CAPS, on the staff, so he had a legit spot on the ice last night. (Not saying in any form that the previous guys don't have a spot at the parade. I hope they show up in droves!!!!)

Wasn't aware of that.

No words. ALLCAPS. I cannot wait for these guys to bring the cup home.

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

I'm nearing 30 years old and have been in the DC area my entire life. This has been an unreal run and the entire area deserves this. First time a major sports franchise has been able to celebrate with a championship in my lifetime. (I was too young to remember the Rypien run). So happy for Ovi, Backstrom and Holtby.

Posted in other thread as well...

Holy Hell I cannot believe they won and cannot believe I've seen a major DC sports Championship in my lifetime.

The sheer joy on Ovi's face was amazing and I said in another thread at the start of the playoffs that he didn't have killer instinct. Well, I was wrong.

Well done Capitals!

Well, I was wrong.

That makes two of us. Going into this season I had no expectations. When Holtby started to struggle, I was sure that they would flame out and blow up the roster. When they started 0-2 against Columbus, I joked that they were using a bold new strategy to avoid the dreaded 2nd-round loss to the Pens. When they lost three straight to the Lightning, I said that this year's collapse would be one for the ages. It wasn't until the end of game 2 in the finals that I think I truly started to believe that this team was different.

Crow never tasted so good in all my life!

It's still so surreal. I loved seeing the players celebrate it with their families. Also, and this my be the irrational excitement talking, the Hokies and winning the national championship this year. I don't know how or why, but it's going to happen.

GRATS CAPS from a Pens fan!! If there's any other team besides Pittsburgh it's DC (because I live closer to them).

Nice to see Hokie fans inside Verizon Center last night...Go Hokies..Go Caps

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Another one that hits home, particularly since my grandfather had Alzheimer's and was a huge DC sports fan....

WOW! Thanks for sharing that. From the gut, humbling to know.

Just sobered up..... HELL YEA BABY. They say the house always wins.... well not this time! I couldn't help but tear up when I say Ovechkin's reaction when he lifted the cup for the first time. finally, finally.... FINALLY we get a winner in DC and more specifically a Stanley Cup in DC after all the let downs and choke jobs.

As a side note, went to the watch party inside Cap One, and that scene was amazing let alone all the shenanigans outside on the streets afterwards.
