Jarren McAllister has not been released from his scholarship

Jarren McAllister, the Virginia Tech basketball incoming freshman who said he's been released from his scholarship, might want to check back with the Hokies. A Tech athletics department spokesman said Monday that McAllister, a 6-foot-3, 165-pound, three-star guard from Wake Forest, N.C., has not requested a release from the school.

This can't end well. If he wants to leave, let him leave.

Sure it can. He can actually ask for a release and then they can give it to him.

If we didnt know he was trying to leave how are we going to know to let him leave.
if he didnt say anything about leaving we cant give something we didnt know he wanted

Agreed but it just seems like if we intended to let him leave we wouldn't put out a statement saying that he hasn't been released from his LOI. You would just make it happen behind the scenes and release him instead of contradicting him, unless you are trying to impede the process. I really hope that's not the case but this definitely strikes me as strange.

In the article someone from RTD asked a Tech athletic spokesmen and he gave them an answer. He was asked a question and he gave an answer. It's not like he just went out and said he hasn't been released from the scholarship after he had seen what RTD had posted.

has not requested a release from the school.

I think you need to re-read the article because this quote doesn't match the narrative you constructed in your head.

It's clear that he doesn't want to be here or he wouldn't have said he was being released from his LOI. I'm just saying that if he doesn't want to be here, they should just release him. I'm not trying to concoct an elaborate conspiracy or narrative. Just simply saying, he's expressed he doesn't want to attend VT and the athletic dept. should help facilitate that.

I agree with most of this, but why should we have to chase someone down to try to help them leave. If they want to leave they can go and ask somebody how he can get released and not just say he is released and expect us to do everything for him.

Totally agree that we shouldn't have to chase him down but what if he was given the impression that it was already a done deal. I would guess that he had discussions with somebody within the coaching staff or department about his LOI already and had a misunderstanding that it was a done deal already. I find it unlikely that he announced he had been given a release without having already asked for it from somebody (obviously not the right person)

Sounds like you're just sort of guessing and making up scenarios.

If the school say's he hasn't been released, I believe them.

Lol of course that's what I'm doing, that's what we do on this website all the time :)

Ahh the "He/she will just figure out we are broken up when I just don't return any calls anymore" technique. We've all been there before.

And speak for yourself, pal. I've never been there before. ;^)

I just had an employer do it to me in March. Never said I was fired or that I wasn't employed there any longer, they just blocked me out of the email and computer system.

So 24/7 has him as a 2019 recruit now, that's still committed to VT. This whole thing is odd.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.
