When I think of "imposing your will" its running the ball down someones throat and them being unable to stop you when they know it's coming...THe 2006 game vs. Clemson comes to mind. Ore was running up and down the field on them all night..

Could you actually hear it, because I didn't see it in the film, and I cannot listen to it at work.
The reason I bring this up, is because my friend in the band was doing the stick it in dance and ESPN had it on the national broadcast.
Sadly, this was the last time it was played at a football game, as it started all the backlash from the Geriatric portion of the fanbase because they saw it on live television.

It's a shame you missed the ECU and UNC games the last couple years, not to mention UVa in 2016. Those were some fun ass whoppings where they simply could not stop us.
I didn't miss them...but I think imposing your will on someone is physically punishing them at the point of attack in the run game. The defense knows your running the ball, and there's nothing they can do to stop it..Another example is the night Darren Evans ran all over Maryland...I think that was in 2009...
Imposing your will on someone is not limited to only running the ball. If you are doing whatever you want and completely dictating the script of the game, you are imposing your will.
The forward pass being allowed in football was a sad day for you uh?
LOL...no but thats one of the things that initially attracted me to VT was the hard, tough, physical style of play they exhibited in that game against Texas in 1995. Not a lot of showboating, but we're gonna line up and knock you off the ball. I like passing just fine..thank you very much..

I just don't think that's reality anymore, at least at VT. We saw Bama and UGA do it. GT and Navy do it. Pitt with Connor could do it. But even PSU last year, with a great RB, was really a finesse team.
Though we lost it, we imposed our will by your definition on Ok. State then.
The Difference in that game is that I dont think they were trying to stop us..lol
I think there's a good argument we imposed our will on Miami in 2016, defensively at least. The defense just looked so tough that game and it looked like Miami couldn't do a damn thing to stop it.

No, just Ore. Kenny Lewis was the 2nd leading rusher on the team with only 54 carries. George Bell was third. Elan Lewis was fourth. It was a ........challenging.....year for the rushing attack.
That's an interesting game and season to bring up. You can hear Fowler talking about it in the first rushing highlight, how there is only Ore now and not the tandem before him (Humes/Imoh, IIRC).
And our rushing game had been garbage because of it. {Also, Sean Glennon at QB instead of Vick/Randall/MV2.}
Our rushing stats that year:
111 yards, 117, 102, 145, 42 (GT), 33 (BC), 284 (USM), 224 (Clem), 53, 73, 92, 156 (terrible UVA team), 42.
The GT/BC games were terrible, embarrassing loses. USM we really ran all over, for 7.3 ypc. But the Clemson game was 224 yards...on 58 carries...for 3.9 ypc. It was "enforcing our will" but it wasn't pretty and not an aspiration for where we are right now.
Even as ugly as those rushing games were after the USM game, we won them all (except the last, on the 2nd half Glennon meltdown to UGA).
So.....
...yes, we enforced our will in that game....
...but, it was really an anomaly for that team....
...which was really quite bad on offense....
...and not something we really should aspire for now.
That was the season where everyone really turned on Stiney. His offenses before that were pretty good, but that was a lone highlight in a season that really turned the program in a downward direction for the next 6 years.
I don't care who wrote this but they must really enjoy pounding UVA and are trying to use some clever reverse psychology.
I think there is some pounding happening there, because the guy's girlfriend must be a UVa undergrad and he's trying to score some points.
Nice recruiting ammunition there.
