Caleb Farley and Khalil Ladler were shown in individual footwork drills. Both moved well. Ladler has a little bit of a false step coming out of his backpedal. While the FS spot isn't going to be pressed often, Bud does have his free safety match up in the deep half.
Jovonn Quillen makes a nice one handed snare look easy.
Kaleb Smith is shown on an out route. He is getting some camera time.
Tre Turner beats fellow North Carolinian DJ Crossen on a post. I was surprised Crossen was moved to corner, as he looked solid at free safety in the spring and struggled to get out of his backpedal in man coverage at the Shrine Bowl. I expect at some point that he will transition back to free safety.
Some team work is shown. Defensively it appears to be Dax Hollifield at Nike, fellow freshman Alan Tisdale at backer, freshman Chamarri Conner at rover, and freshman Nasir Peoples at free. What was odd is that the defensive ends were seniors: Trevon Hill and Ray Minor. Hill working with freshmen was startling a bit. Hollifield working with the young group was surprising as well, as Tisdale was third on the depth chart at backer and Conner and Peoples have talented folks in front of them. Perhaps Dax's learning curve is a bit bigger than some of the preseason talk? For what it is worth, when he engaged the blocker the pads sung loudly.
I could not make out any of the OL numbers in that team rep.

If this is accurate (pure conjecture based on that one clip) it would suggest that, once again a premium is placed on experience, and, what is up with Hill?
Wondering if Hill might be a result of the ugly twitter battle he got into with Bitter earlier this summer. Makes no real sense otherwise why he would be repping with the 3s.
Or that we might not have him in Tally.
My one meager #sauce has been warning me for weeks that Trevon's status for FSU is precarious at best.
I don't like to read too much into the groupings this early either, but LA may be onto something here, sorry to say.
Next man up. Looking forward to these young guys getting some game experience in a tough environment and seeing how they handle it.

I think this is an overreaction to social media clip and would take nothing away from it.
Or it is just that freshmen have to earn their way up the depth chart. The Hill thing, that is a head scratcher based on what is publicly available. If something else is going down, I will await official news before speculating the "why." But working with true freshmen and a walk on is never a good thing if you are a senior and returning starter.
who was hill going against? maybe the coaches want to see how the young guys hold up against our most experienced DE? like wythevillain said, it is an extremely brief glimpse of practice, reading into anything is a waste of time.

Think the lack of discussion is more of a time thing I guess. Somewhat humorously, it seems we are quite active while we work. That said, I think we are in for a healthy meltdown over Trevon Hill's odd predicament come morning. I try not to go full meltdown, but that was a downer to hear. Hopefully it's something small, but I feel I'm just being optimistic.
Maybe Hill was just repping with the 3's for the brief social media snippet as an instructor, teaching the kiddos some things, giving pointers....maybe...

lol, my wife just hands me the phone every time there's a Hokie update on IG. Well, not this year since she's deployed ( only two more months!) but that's how we operated last year. I wouldn't even have to ask, she'd just pull it up and hand me the phone. lol.

I never take the social media posts to mean much as I assume this staff wouldn't leak anything of value to the competition over social media.
Gotta believe that Dax with the 3's is just a "start from the bottom" type of thing. You don't earn anything until you step on the field and work, or something to that effect. As for Trevon....maybe he's in there to set an example for the young guys???? That's the best spin I can put on it. Although if there was truly something to keep under wraps, why would they show that? VT social media has been pretty good about keeping secrets in the past.
Could it just be extra reps? I never played so I don't know how football camp works but with soccer, if you were a younger guy getting a call up to varsity, you'd play with JV, Varsity, and Freshmen squads to get extra experience.
Or mayba folks should temper the hype for dax the same as the should have for most tf that have come thru. I remember Tim Settle supplanting everyone from Woody.Nigel. Ricky and Maddy. It is very difficult for non cant miss TF top 25 recruits to start and play at a high level right away. He just might need some time to be ready.

It means there are less than about 25 HS recruits a year. Who have everything needed to be day 1 cant miss difference makers.
