This is a few days old now, but I was surprised I hadn't seen anyone talk about it here.
Captain Picard is coming back, in a new CBS All Access series.

Make It So
Engage.
If you kind of like Star Trek, or at least sci-fi in general, but never really watched Star Trek: The Next Generation, go watch The Inner Light (season 5, episode 25).
It's on Netflix.
I greatly agree it is one of the best episodes of television of all time. It really has nothing to do with Star Trek either. Just all around great writing.
The same can be said about In the Pale Moonlight from Deep Space Nine.
Absolutely love In the Pale Moonlight
I'd call that a bargain
I just put this on because I needed to see it after talking about it.
I will third this. It hits you right in the feels, while keeping you engaged from beginning to end. Truly one of the peaks of a fantastic series.
This and Chain of Command (which the last gif is taken from) are two of the best episodes I've ever seen.
Not TNG episodes; two of the best episodes of any television show I've ever watched.
I never watched Star Trek at all but I do enjoy sci-fi and some day when I had nothing going on (I think while I was still at Tech) I was randomly flipping through and I caught the beginning of this episode. Ended up watching the whole thing and you are right it was fantastic. Still the only episode of Star Trek I've seen, but it did spark my interest enough to want to watch the whole TNG series. Now to only find the time....
Love it. Can't wait for season 2 to begin
Are you speaking of Discovery? Cause this is a new series apart from Discovery. Or am I up too late on a weekday to pick up on something?
oh damn, I read that wrong. I thought DIscovery was going to be doing some more time travel stuff. wow.... thanks
Discovery on its own wasn't enough to get me to buy into CBS AllAccess, even with their outstanding reviews. This, however... This might.
I haven't watched it all yet. I figured I would let them get half way through season 2 and maybe pay for a month around Christmas time and binge it all.
I will say that I was completely against this All Access thing at first. But after watching a few and realizing that they had all the liberties to say and show what they want, it made more sense. Made for a bit more of an adult experience you weren't used to with Star Trek.
