I love that Andrew Ford was able to find success at UMass. He is heading into the season as one of the best quarterbacks in that program's history and finished in the top 30 for the Manning Award watch list.

Nice. I knew he was starting for UMass, but I wasn't aware of his level of success there. I wonder how he would've fared playing for CornFu's offense if he had stuck it out in Blacksburg. I would think he would've certainly had a shot competing for our QB1 the past couple of years, given his demonstrated success at UMass.
Glad he left and got a chance to Play. Fuente seems to just pick one QB and sees nothing else. Last year was proof of that . I hope Hooker leaves, only way he will get a chance. Short of a major injury , JJ will play every game..
Was really hoping you would have learned from all your Motu hate posts, guess not.
Luckily this clown doesn't post very often.
a few more gems like this and he (or she) won't be posting at all
Yeah, 5 more of these and we have another hokiemarine92.
I mean. Even if you disagree, there is absolutely nothing bannable about that comment. Its just a very unpopular opinion, it it isnt offensive.
It isn't banning as much as the tribe voting them off the island.
Which in and of itself is a slippery slope. I dont know why that commebt has 70+ downvotes. Sometimes giving the reins to the masses leads to irrational decisions.
Now clearly there is a history with this particular poster that i dont know, but if a large group of people just decide to down vote eveeything he says in an attempt to ban him that is an abuse of power and a problem.
History?
The guy spent last season constantly ripping on Motu for his play. Just when we thought we were done with it, it looks like he's now setting his sights on Fuente himself.
If he ever crossed the line of being inappropriate, offensive, or rude then I completely agree with the downvotes.
If that was the site's criteria for TKP participation, the in-game threads would be a very different place.
Agreed, some people can't hold their cool haha.
A single moderator banning users by fiat is an abuse of power. Punishing a sub-par post by someone with a history of even worse posts is the community saying 'We're sick of your shit'.
I'll go on the record with the dam truth and say that if this user is eventually community banned it wouldn't have been soon enough. Jack Crow hasn't shown us anything better than a shitpost in 9 months.
That being said, if Jack Crow's post quality improves and people are still downvoting just because of who's posting then I think we'd have a problem.
Like I said, I haven't read his other posts. I just know that the number of downvotes this post has is clearly indicative of a history as opposed to an objective view at the the singular comment presented here.
He has a history of being a twat, and is being treated like a twat. Nothing to see here.
You should go to the Camping Bowl thread. I'm so confused right now.
Yeah, I folded and looked at his comment history. Comes off as a bitter old man.
Kudos to you for calling out what you thought was unfair treatment, though.
You think maybe because he hopes a current Hokie player would leave?
I mean, no? It wasn't malicious. It was just a mechanism to express his opinion of how he will ever get playtime.
I didn't downvote this particular comment but this is called "bendering". There's a easy way to stop the downvotes though, be more thoughtful in your posts and don't only post trolly drivel.
I think the saying is Haters gonna Hate ......not Haters gonna Learn.
Except when he started redshirt freshman Paxton Lynch over a returning senior at Memphis.
via GIPHY
I agree with you disagreeing with the OP, but regarding Lynch, Fuente actually did just pick one QB (Lynch) and nothing else for remaining time he had at Memphis... and Lynch fucking crushed it in his last two years. So... here's hoping he continues to pick one QB and nothing else because it seems to work. 🦃
But really, people need to read about the shit Fuente got when he made Lynch the starter and stuck with him through quite a rough first year. With the right pony Fuente will bet the farm early and play the long game.
So if Quincy Patterson comes out onto the field Monday night like:

we should reasonably expect to "fucking kill it" in 2020 and 2021. I think the math checks out.
Unreasonably, national champs 2018, 2019, 2020 and QP leaves early to go number 1 and number 2 overall in the NFL draft (plays on both teams, why not?).
Your math is correct
Lol yeah what a crazy guy sticking with one quarterback the whole season who does that anymore
Nick Saban at halftime of the Natty is on line 2
Do we have a 5 star in the hole who is game ready? AJ Bush was a transfer for a reason. Good team guy, athletic, but did not star for a mediocre Nebraska (IIRC) team.
Also - Playing your Backup is risky - if he gets hurt who is behind him?
Last two quarters of the season you have nothing to lose.
You should probably go root for UVA. They play as many as three quarterbacks in one game.
Yeah, we saw how that worked out...
The backup QB is the most popular guy on the team.
Three facts:
1. Andrew Ford asked to be released for a transfer in May 2015.
2. Justin Fuente was hired in November 2015.
3. Jack Crow's post is nothing but unwarranted hate smothered in unbridled ignorance.
Josh Jackson is also on the watch list
...and the only Sophomore on the list
I remembered being impressed by Andrew Ford. Graduated HS early to be an early enrollee, ACC All-Academic honors and humble and respectful during interviews. I believe Lefty said he was one the hardest workers on the team. Transferred from Tech in 2015 believing Dwayne Lawson was a shoe-in to replace Michael Brewer and he would have never seen the field (lulz).
I still think Fuente would have gotten Evans in 2016 but Ford could have been our quarterback last year and this year.
Speaking of former QB's AJ Bush is probably going to be the starter at Illinois.
Are we just a pipeline for Illinois QB transfers? What happened to Lawson, didn't he transfer there as well?
I don't think he ever qualified to attend Illinois...or if he did he never played for them
Nice article about AJ published a couple of days ago: Exuberant and speedy, Bush brings hype to the Illini
Sounds like he's working hard and having fun. Hope he has a great year.
I will be rooting for AJ Bush on 9/21 and 10/27! (PSU and Maryland). Pretty much all year actually.
I'll root for that kid forever. Unless we play him in the National Championship, then all bets are off. (I know how unlikely that is.) He came here, worked his butt off. Pushed us at the starting QB to grow and had some fun vs ECU.
Pretty sure I wouldn't root for him if we played them in the semifinals either. Possibly even a NY6 matchup, were we to fall that far. But a standard bowl game? Yeah, maybe I'll root for him.
Touché. I wouldn't want him to do poorly, but I wouldn't actively cheer for him if he played VT in a bowl.
Nice to hear about AJ Bush, had he won the competition last year, Fuente would have been able to do some things with him. I think he got beat out by Jackson fairly, but he is a good football player and I wish him the very best.
Gets a chance @ Nebraska on 11/10.
Assuming the time slots don't conflict with the Hokies, I'll be watching. I am hoping Bush is playing and winning on that day.
Scott Leoffler- for all of his 100th plus ranked offenses and terrible QB play thus far at BC, seemed to be able to recruit a few good QBs in his day.
The guy has an eye for QBs, but doesn't seem to have an eye for game day adjustments and preparation. When then next round of heads roll at BC and a team can convince him to QB coach rather than OC, I think he would be right in his sweet spot.
I'm not sure that that's fair. Leoeffler may not be an elite OC, some of his coaching mistakes are well documented on here, but he may also be better than we often give him credit for. His inability to turn our offense around is somewhat due to the fact that our offense was pretty bad top to bottom when he took over.
Leoeoeeoffler did a pretty good job bringing in good talent. Also his system is really predicated on being incredibly precise and was apparently pretty difficult to get firing on all cylinders
UMass and Ford will be playing BC and Loeoffler in their first game, 9/01.
This post is criminally underlegged.
Good talent evaluator and recruiter (not as good as Corn/Fu tho).
Lefty's problem was/is game planning and in-game sequencing.
Andrew Ford anagrams to Fond Reward, which is probably what the Manning Award would be to him
So this speaks to the fact that our QB room is starting to become top notch. A transferred QB in Group of 5 is high recognizable, another transfer is going to be a starter most likely and our own QB is primed to have a solid year. Our backup is a former starter at Kansas, then we have Hooker who's only a R-Freshmen and to round it out we have Quincy the phenom as a True Freshman plus we just got a committ who is 6 foot 5..I say the position is doing pretty well.
You forgot Chase Mummau
No longer on the team.
Por que???
Thank you, but whyyyyyyy?
I would guess (no sauces) college is hard enough without dealing with an FBS training and practice schedule not on scholarship, especially with his nagging injury.
When I saw Ford, I automatically thought of Isiah Ford, I thought it was some sort of comeback story.
Ford was an impact player...
That picture never leaves my mind
Title correction:
FormerHokie. Once a Hokie always a Hokie.Ehhhhh.......Marcus?
Oh the future MV5 could of had if he hadn't lost his marbles...
Reminds me of this story:
whatchu talkin bout?

I wouldn't have thought Jackson threw 40 more passes than Ford, but there it is. Similar passing stats, but Jackson's rushing puts him over the top. With more experienced WRs this year (and hopefully better OL and RBs, too), let's hope Jackson breaks some records.
Name, School Cmp-Att Pct. Yards TDs INT QBR Rushing
Josh Jackson, So., Virginia Tech 236-396 .596 2,991 20 9 60.3 324 yds, 6 TDs
Andrew Ford, Sr., Massachusetts 223-353 .660 2,924 22 4 45.3 NA
Much lower completion percent, fewer YPA and YPC, fewer TDs and more INTs...
I don't think the rushing stats even come close to making up the difference, stat-wise. Though I bet if you adjust for opponents it might.
Valid points, I still prefer Jackson.
324 yards rushing plus 6 TDs rushing versus 0 yards and 0 TDs is significant to me.
Opponent level is another good point in Jackson's favor, thanks for pointing that out.
QBR isn't something I know much about, but the Manning Award lists it in the stats it's using, and from a small amount of research, I found this statement on ESPN explaining how QBR works:
http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/123701/how-is-total-qbr-cal...
Jackson's QBR = 60.3
Ford's QBR = 45.3
Pro Bowl-level QBR = 75
Average QBR = 50
Is QBR a "real" stat? Who knows, but they're using it, and it's another way to evaluate QBs.
Happy with Josh Jackson :)
QBR helps account for the fact that Ford takes way too many sacks- UMass was tied for 128th in the country in sacks allowed last year and in the game I watched it wasn't all on the O-line.
Oh, and my initial point was that I expected Ford to have some gaudy stats with a lot more passing attempts, and passing yards, and probably TDs, than Jackson, and I was surprised when I didn't see that
He does look to be making a name for himself.
Perhaps it is all the ....*drops shades*...focus
Andrew Ford is doing pretty well in UMass's season opener against Duquesne. Early second quarter and UMass leads 28-3, with Ford being 7/9 for 104 yards and a TD. Though it looks like the backup came in for a short stint and went 3/4 for 72 and a TD, not sure what the story is there.
