HERE YE HERE YE! The glorious and crisp fall mornings are upon us! We are just a mere fortnight(not the video game) from some good old fashioned family gathering in a field!
This is my open invitation to all of you to come and gather with us by the guard rail in Lot 18 this season.

We have gathered quite a fun TKP following, and nothing puts a smile on my face more than seeing you all in person instead of trading whitty GIFs with you.
Even if you do not have a LOT 18 pass but don't have another place to tailgate, it is easy enough to unload there before you go hide your vehicle somewhere else. See me for help if you want to do that.
The glorious smell of smoked meats and refreshing taste of your favorite brew is ready to infuse us all!

I can't wait to see everyone this season!

We got our passes, see you there.
WOOO!!!!! Adam already has turkey legs in the freezer for the first game. He is also planning to do a chicken and salsa for the first game. I just have to figure out what I am making.. I have missed LOT 18 this off season. Thursday was the perfect day for football here. It was sunny, warm-but not hot, with a nice breeze. It felt like a fall day in Blacksburg. I wanted to be in Lot 18 and Lane Stadium so much when I was outside. SOON!!
Is there any Yuengling left?
Danny Coale is my Spirit Animal and Magic Rat will probably hook everybody up.
I think he's bringing the Kraken instead. At least until it's dead.
YES
So I should plan to bring more Yuengling?
You bring it I'll drink it!!!
I was too deep into brunch yesterday when I originally answered this. Please do not bring any Yuengling unless you plan on consuming it all yourself.
damn, that flip flop was faster than Cam'ron Kelly's.
He's 800% committed this time though.
Where can I park for Homecoming that won't be crazy expensive or get the rental car towed?
Officially? Park in Prices Fork. Unofficially? Call me and let me hand off my pass. BC should not be that crowded and you can just park with us.
Hethwood is free. If you park down near stroubles circle, it's a pretty easy walk to lot 18 or BT has three stops near the circle.
Free Parking in McBryde Village. Anywhere it doesn't say "no parking" is fair game. If you park at the end of Hutcheson (here) you can walk right out to price's fork, by the alumni center, and you're at the duck pond, assuming you're headed to Lot 18.
After the game, you can head out the back of the neighborhood and hop on Tom's Creek Road to get out to 460 quickly. Unfortunately, there's no way to get back to your hotel in Roanoke without going through the mess unless you take the back roads through Catawba. 5 of 5 LOLUVa equipment trucks think this is a bad idea.
I can't wait to day drink with everyone in this thread next Saturday morning! Oh yeah, there's a football game too!
Will I actually remember more of this football game than the spring game?
*shakes magic 8-ball* Probably not.
Wait, why do you not remember the Spring Game?
Because rum. Lots and lots of rum.
You wont know lots of liquor until you are introduced to the liquor pinata and my friend Mr. Bat'leth.
Right, so I just had my first rail in over a decade a couple weeks ago, and my liver has revolted and skipped town. A liquor piΓ±ata sounds like trouble. And I never say no to trouble.
I can totally not recall at least one Miami game where it was trouble, thats for sure.
And rails were gross ten years ago, and they are still gross today.
You guys are set up right beside some old friends of mine - used to tailgate religiously with the crew by the big tree there on the corner.
Yeah they have been our neighbors now for as long as I have been tailgating there and they are very good people. We are pretty tight with them these days and generally both tailgates end up merging.
Sounds like you will have plenty of food then!
I am pretty sure food has never been an issue in that lot. Neither has beer hahaha
I need to make it a stop then on Saturday
We always have too much food. I am already stocking up on turkey legs. I will probably do about 16 of them since Hagy said he is bringing his Dad, Allie will be there, and we always seem to have unexpected people show up.
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to bring. It will be good though, I promise.
Gotta figure out what I am
bringingmaking too.. We are bringing a handle of Captain and turkey legs, chicken, and salsa... Maybe pepperoni pizza cheeseball and something sweet....If anyone ever criticizes my Busch Light and then brings this hot garbage.....we are gonna have words.
But I would love to see you take a Bierstick of this stuff.
We're driving my car, in all of its spitfire orange glory, to the first game. So I think I can safely ban this substance from entering my vehicle.
Did you got a lot 18 pass with your tickets?
Not this year. I think we're just going to park at the golf course and walk over.
I am going to make it a goal this year to drink a Busch Light with you.
There are dozens of us.
Head for the Mountains!
Sounds like a challenge.
My younger brother who is doing his 5th year at Radford says slamming these MD20/20's is like, a thing there.
Exactly what Mad Dog consumption will do.
That is where I tailgate. Been doing it for 30 years with the same people (with some gaps for when I lived out west).
Had reason to go to the burg today, so I drove by to make sure things were ok.
Thank god it doesn't look like this again!
This is pretty much what it looked like after the Duke game last year.
Yeah we left that game right before the sky's opened for that to get back down to Martinsville.
Just found this throwback while looking for another picture. That time when we had a real life Angry Birds setup, an then the Hokie Bird showed up and made short work of it!
I see mini cavman has properly assumed the position.
It was my roommate from grad school who put that together.
It was forever epic.
So is my ex-roommate. He has a place at Carvin's cove that has two waterfront bandstands. They book bands most weekends, often multiple bands.
I found another pic of this

Not sure which games I'm going to but I'll have to pay a visit again this season. Had a blast at the Clemson game last year. My most distinct memory is seeing Joe after he was six hours in. I was wearing a VT zip up jacket and he goes "HELL YEAH, NICE POLO STEVEN." Oh, and horse head mask pinata swatting.
Getting ready guys!
I am hearing reports that the dear lot is flooded again. Better this week than next!
There is still room on that Guardrail for me to have a cold one.
No Fun!!! That reminds me of the Duke game last season..
This is why we drive Jeeps.
They do float pretty good.
I can confidently say I will not be driving my Jeep through that. Partially because it's not a Wrangler, and partially because it's new and I'm still in the "baby it" phase.
BIERSTICKS FOR BUD THIS WEEKEND
I am so ready to be in Blacksburg/Lot 18 this weekend!!!!!! I can smell HokieEnginerd's turkey legs and chicken (granted his smoking meat is not a Blacksburg only smell---I get to live with that deliciousness...yay me!), hear everybody talking and Nick's football playlist, and see Danny Coale is my Spirit Animal walking over from the golf course with his horse head and Dr. Seuss hat and either he or Magic Rat with a case of Yuengling on their shoulders.... Ah glorious wonderful football!!! Time to tailgate!!! Now to survive the next 2 days of kindergarten. At least the thought of Lot 18 and FOOTBALL are the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm so, so ready.
My dear friends. Although not announced yet, I fear we will not be congregating this weekend. We are a few days out but I will fully respect any safety concerns for travelers. And as out Lot has a history of wanting to drown itself, I fear that we will not be back in the chickweed forest till Notre Dame. If it all works out and we are there this weekend, then I owe you all a Busch Light. If not, then I will look forward to the Notre Dame game more than you can believe.
Keep yourselves safe and dry this week!
Wasknick:
Busch for a YEAR
I've been following it for sure, but it looks like I have to go to Nevada right now to find the magic medallion.
One is Nebraska as well.
$480 in gift cards.
All these damn National Forrest's on the East Coast and they got to stay out West. Geeze
New York. That's 3 of the 6...
Well we are getting closer
St. Louis. they aren't making this easy.
And Colorado...

First game in lot 18 for me next week. Got a couple TV related questions. Does anyone know the signal strength or success of getting over the air TV in the lot? Also how's ATT cell service down there? I'd like to stream game day. Thanks
We have never tried OTA in the lot but it's always iffy around there with all the elevation changes. You should fine outdoors with ATT. I used to have it and it didn't like being inside hokie stone buildings, but outside I had no issues.
Appreciate it. I thought OTA could be a problem. Kind of in a hole down there.
TKP tailgate info will be coming out soon. But we will have the normal sattelite setup (among other things) and everyone is totally welcome to gather around that. We had quite a crowd watching GAMEDAY last year.
We may have to take you up on that. Thanks!
So I'll be making my long-awaited debut in Lot 18 this weekend. Couldn't make it to W&M so this is long past due. Bringing a friend who has family ties to ND but also a huge VT fan, looking forward to showing him a good time. Can't wait!
Hey y'all, I have the 'itis. This head cold is probably going to keep me from driving to Blacksburg tonight. I may ride up with my dad tomorrow if I don't feel too bad, but I would not be there till later. Everyone else will he there, though.
Y'all we did what we do best even in the face of adversity (and annoying Whoop fans). Good year of tailgating; sad for it to end.
I do not plan on making the drive next week for Marshall. If you are going to be there then keep it going!
Thanks everyone!
