Ernest checking back in after a long break from TKP. It's been a busy, but amazing off-season personally. Sold a house, got a new job, moved to Richmond, and recently got engaged (in that order)!
Since we're new to the area, I was curious if anyone knew anything about local watch parties? I've looked through the Richmond Hokies Club page on Facebook as well as the official Hokie Club page and haven't seen anything posted as of yet. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Home Team Grill is always a great atmosphere for Hokie football!
Good to know. That's not too far from me either. Thanks!
I was wondering just the other day what the hell happened to you.
The Buffalo Wild Wings at VCC tends to draw a very good Hokie Crowd. That is probably where yours truly will camp out.
I also was thinking about Kreggers as that is super local for me, but as the owners son is Alec Eberle from Florida State, I may have to avoid that enemy territory that night.
What area are you living in?
Good stuff, thanks! We're living downtown in Shockoe Slip right on the Canal Walk at The Locks (Gate 5). Right beside Casa del Barco.
Welp yeah I guess you cant get too much more in the city than that.
BWW in the bottom used to be a hokie bar during games as well, though we went for the bowl game last year and we might have been the only ones there, so who knows. You'd have the benefit of being able to stumble home though, either with a celebration buzz or a misery buzz.
The GM at Casa del Barco is a Hokie. I was just in there Saturday and noticed they have 3 good-sized projector screens. It could be a good place to watch, but I've never watched a game there.
Now I'm thinking I'll contact the GM about hosting semi-official Hokie watch parties there.
2nd for Home Team Grill, especially when it's nice out and they can open all the windows.
Do it! I'd love it if they had watch parties there. Literally would only have to drunk stumble 25 feet and a few steps.
I would love to watch a game at Casa del Barco. We should get this up and running.
Agreed. I would be there
I'll get on this when I see him next, which won't be until the 11th unfortunately.
If any of you are there before then, ask for the GM. He is a very tall and dashing fellow with an epic beard, and I believe he works everyday except Mon-Tues.
Oh that's walking distance for me as well. Definitely interested in this.
Lol I thought this was a call to watch Richmond beat UVA on Saturday
Always gone to home team grill because I haven't heard of others but always a solid hokie crowd at home team!
On the Rox on 18th Street in Shockoe Bottom is where the Hokie Alum association hosted watch parties last season
Sweet! Thanks for the info hunter. I'm going to FB message On the Rox and see if that's still the case this year. Right now, the Hokie Alum webpage redirects you to the Richmond Hokie Club Facebook page which has no information on any events.
I'll most likely be heading to Home Team Grill with my Hokie alum roommate (just echoing the top comment). I'm also new to Richmond, but I went there for the BC game last year to visit my now roommate and the place was packed with Tech fans and alum. Plus they have a cool setup where the facade of the bar opens up like a garage door so you can sit outside and watch the game playing inside.
That place sounds cool, I just might end up there. Thanks for the info Wes!
All of the Bdubs in the Richmond area are Hokie Home Team. The only one where you get a handful of LOLUVA fans is at the one at Westchester Commons off Midlo. I'll be attempting to watch from Cape Hatteras... but would normally be in RVA.
Also, my first post? I think so... LET'S GO!!
Welcome, leg for the Saitama avatar.
Welcome brother. Wow, that UVA hangout could not sound anymore like a UVA hangout. Figures...
I miss Richmond :(
Update for RVA Hokies: I just heard back from the Richmond Hokies Facebook Group. Here's what they said:
"There will be a FSU game watching part at On the Rox (119 N 18th St.) on Monday. We are finalizing times today and will be creating a Facebook event this evening or tomorrow morning the latest."
I'm so pumped. This is like a 5-minute walk or 8-minute stumble from my place. Based on other posts, I may split some time at Casa del Barco too because that's an even shorter stumble.
Hope to see some fellow TKP'ers there!
