No doubt. Travon has speed. He's a good runner, not a good blocker (which was also evident in the Colorado game. The commentators mentioned it a few times) and absolutely needs a block to spring him. He's not going to make a guy mis near the line of scrimmage. That doesn't mean he's not a good back. In some systems, like Loeffler's, he was a great fit and thrived. If he blocks a little better and gains 1000 yards this year he'll get drafted. He could be a pretty decent back in a pro-style offense in the NFL.
He looks infinitely quicker on that play than I remember. That sidestep is impressive. He always had gallop speed but that clip was special.
To be fair (and I'm a CSU fan) the rams (who opened up week 0 with a lost to hawaii in fort collins) kinda fucking suck. Their defense is probably on par with bad ECU teams. Hard to really make a fair comparison to the teams he played here.

It's "sold out" in the sense that there are more tickets for sale from the ticket office. They get bought out by Alumni groups and shit. We were sold out for years in a row but the games were never full. There will be empty corners this weekend. Sorry about it....

No, I know. I'm trying to add to what you are saying, sarcasm or not. We can fill that stadium for Notre Dame if we keep winning, but I hate when we announce a sellout and then have visibly empty sections during the game. Let's make it real. Stats be damned. If we win it they will come.
It might actually be close to full on Saturday. It's a great kickoff time to make a day trip, and people are excited to get down there and see this team again.
Oh it's gonna be jumping, regardless! I miss the early 2000s when it was always full at first but I don't mean to lead on that the place insnt the best in the world.
Unfortunately it looks like thunderstorms are very likely. So hopefully that doesn't affect attendance too negatively... or the game itself.
Sold out isn't the same as tickets used to put butts in seats. A lot of people just won't show due to whatever reason they have even though they paid for a ticket. Same goes for the Alumni groups you mention buying ticket packages and not having the same number of bodies show as tickets purchased.
I'm not usually this excited to play a cupcake team. Can't wait to see this offense flex its muscles against the Tribe and iron out the kinks.
I know we're going on a short week, but seems like we came out of the FSU game without any major injuries, so let's hope we come out full of fire, and get up early so we can get all our guys some PT. I'd just hate to see a major hangover and come out flat, playing for our lives against the Tribe. These "cupcake" teams will be gunning for us, so we have to be sharp and execute our game - NO LETDOWNS!
Yeah that is hard to say. I do agree that it looks like nothing was major, but Mihota looks more hurt than any of us thought and Ricky took a lot of damage. I really hope Ricky can play 3 series and take the rest of the night off. Same for the next 3 weeks actually....
I was thinking the same thing, but then I remembered how thin we are and how nicked up the rest of the DTs are and I am not sure I want Burke or Mihota to have to play ton of minutes either. Who does that leave? I guess we need the first stringers to play 1st half and sub in the second and vice versa for the second stringers.

I think we have sold out every game since 2016 (don't quote me on that). Why not double up the student section seating around the jumbotron. Students seating is very limited with the lottery to get a ticket. It would add 10,000ish seats and make it more available to students.

This is the first time Lane has been sold out for an FCS game since 2012. The sellout streak that started in 1998 ended when we only sold 61,335 tickets to the Western Carolina game in the 2013 home opener. According to Wikipedia, we only sold out one game (UNC) in 2013, none in 2014, two (aOSU and UNC, Beamer's final home game) in 2015, one (GT) in 2016, and three (of six) last year. The fact that we've sold out this game is huge for the perception of the program.
We couldn't expand on that side because of the practice field. There are trees literally only found behind Lane Stadium (something science related) that made building the indoor facility a minor engineering miracle. They cut a few of them if I remember.
Not sure if it was Weaver, but any expansion would involve the East Stands, tear it down, and rebuild two tier. I do recall Weaver mentioning expansion would have to happen had we joined the SEC.
NEZ could definitely be a little bigger. Already above capacity for big games with students "sneaking" in from other sections. I'm always envious of the size of the stands for Ohio State's student section. Similar to ours in that it isn't connected, really just taller/steeper and more... permanent looking. I know the practice field, etc. would make something like this difficult, though.

Then there wouldn't be a guarantee they fill up always. I would rather have it for sure fill up at 66k then hope for a packed house in 77k.
Exactly. People underestimate the negative impact it can have if you lose a lot of unmet demand for your product. I could see us maintaining that demand at about 69-70k TOPS unless something major changes with revenue and overall national recognition. Keep the place as full as possible at our current capacity.
Edit: Also, I've heard Whit say in-person that he applauded the Board's decision not to expand to 75k or whatever they were considering back in '04. That he thinks Lane is the perfect size and that they might consider cutting a club level in to the East stands. Which would actually decrease capacity by a little over a thousand.
I think club level seats in East make alot of sense, even if it brought capacity down. With rising enrollment, I would build out the North Stands out w/ an additional 3k seats to get to the 69-70k mark.
If we lived closer to a bigger city or near a major alumni hub (like Nova/DC) then i would think we could have gotten to the 75-80k mark. But with the anticipated major success over at least the next 3 years, I think we will have the money and momentum to make those renovations.

There was an article in the Wall Street Journal which outlined that there was a decline in college football actual attendance when they looked at the number of tickets scanned vs. how many tickets purchased. Some schools even went to the measure where they included concession workers and other gameday workers as part of the tickets scanned to help their number go up and line up with the paid attendance count.
I think we could easily fill out north endzone easily if it expanded but you will also see the top left part of the east side student section get more scarce.
Yep, as well as the student sections in the SEZ. Lane's capacity is fine, we need to put the funds towards updating the facilities (restrooms mainly) and amenities and make the overall experience worth the ticket price.

Pretty much all sporting event attendance has always been reported as tickets sold, rather than tickets scanned. Also, I don't really see what the point of changing it would be, if a ticket is sold but not used it cannot be sold again to someone else, so if the box office is selling out there's not really much they can do about the scanned ticket attendance.
I think you're missing my point. Obviously everybody knows event attendance is always tickets sold and i am not advocating for them to change it.
I would just like to see tickets scanned vs. tickets sold in an analytical viewpoint. It would be interesting to see the gap after reading the study by the Wall Street Journal.
How much of a financial hit would it be to let ALL students in to fill out the place?
This past weekend and probably next week too(not considering weather) I would be very surprised if there were students that got turned down for tickets. The lottery usually only hit really hard on ACC games or high profile games.
