I suppose this tradition kind of means Beamer's number is "retired". I don't anticipate anyone wearing 25 as their personal Jersey number.
Kumah really earned this with that heads up play. It may seem weird to give credit to the guy that didn't block the punt itself but he had to be really aware of his surroundings, field the ball and take it to the house.
#25 is officially retired, along with #10 and one or two others. (four total I think). So even if we were not doing the Beamerball special, nobody would be issued #25 as their regular jersey.
Vick's jersey being retired instead of the #7 marked the recognition that we were going to run out of numbers if we kept retiring them.
10 (Loria), 73 (Pyne), 78 (BRUUUUCCCEEEE), and 84 (Dale) are all officially retired at this point. I think Beamer's 25 is kind of an honorary retirement.

Seemed like whenever Stroman got to wear #25 he made a big play. Walker held up that tradition with his DL play... hope Kumah keeps up that trend.
Alexander housed a block kick vs Duke with the #25. And it seems like Diablo forced or recovered a fumble with the #25.
Believe in the 25 or be deemed out of whack.

Well deserved! I was expecting it to be either Kumah or Cunningham.
Kumah has been playing extremely physical to end last season and start this season. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. In the "This Is Home" podcast, Flowers, Royal, or Hall (cannot remember which one was at the game (I think Flowers), said he told Kumah after his PI call in the endzone to "push off again. Just don't extend your arm." Said he loved seeing that physicality from such a young player, and that he doesn't mind that PI at all, because it shows the physical and agressive mindset that Kumah is playing with. Awesome!

Hey so I have a question, I just went to go give Kumah a follow on Instagram and maybe is something that a lot of cfb players are doin so idk. But he lists his cash app and venmo usernames on there.
If say after a big game ppl use this info to send him money, or at anytime for the simple reason of him being a VT football player where they otherwise wouldn't give it some random student at tech, could this be a NCAA violation? I'm just wondering as I really can't imagine that that info isn't on there because it hasn't worked in the past for him/someone else. And while it may be hard to prove something specific tied to football you just never know with the NCAA. So I'm asking kind of seriously if this is something that Fuente and the athletics dept should look at in case the NCAA comes asking.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. All this social media stuff is just plain old evil.
It certainly seems like a grey area. Venmo has public/private payment options, but it seems like it would be hard to control what randos send over if that were what was actually happening?
