They've finally agreed on traffic patterns for Game Day. I would say - I suspect this will change after William and Mary. It takes a full 6 images to describe traffic routing... I hesitated posting this because I have some idea how well this is going to go over...

FWIW... They've already reworked the traffic pattern from 460/Southgate once to allow 460 Westbound traffic a continuous green, and shuttered one of the two lanes coming from 460 Eastbound into campus to accomodate that.

I saw some information on something called Hokie village in this post. ECU will be my first time bringing the kids to a game. Anybody have any insight on what Hokie Village is ? Is it going to be good for boys aged 7, 5, and 2?
They usually have the band, some entertainment and other stuff. Would be good for the kiddos.

hokie village is a blast for kids that age. Inflatables (bouncy houses and slides and the like). Athletes are usually there signing posters. Cool cars parked on the grass (usually a maroon and orange mustang/F150 combo if I remember correctly). I took my 5 and 3 year old a few years back and they almost wanted to miss the game to stay there.

I don't understand what your hesitation would be about this. It's certainly a huge improvement over before, where Southgate and Duck Pond were entirely 1-way both before and after the game, so this actually gives more mobility than before.
I can see how it might be confusing if you had no warning and there are no signs, but if they clearly place signs that state "no access to 460 E" or "Lots 2-6, 6A, and M2 use right lane" it should be abundantly clear what everyone is supposed to do.
I drive this daily to my office on Beamer Way (Chicken Hill). On a "normal" day people are confused by the "which lane do i need" between the interchange and the second roundabout, and by people not yielding to roundabout traffic. I actually think it's an improvement myself but a LOT of people around VT have very strong dislike of it. They just had to re-engineer the westbound feed ramp 460-to-Southgate from the original traditional trafffic light so that it's a steady green to keep the one lane from CBurg from backing up into 460 every morning.. to do that they closed the second lane from the eastbound (Giles) side completely.
It's an absolute pain to get from campus to the airport / CRC now - instead of 0.4 miles its nearly 3. Think about that in terms of mileage and time as it relates to the many VT employees who go that way on state vehicles. For my office alone its a 4,000-mile-per-year increase on our state vehicles because we have a satellite office in CRC.
I expect - as i said initially - there will be tweaks to this after today's game. I'm sure that by Notre Dame everyone will have it figured out and we can start complaining about the fact they plan on enforcing the tailgate rules this year. Essentially "STOP, or I'll say STOP again! " ... at least to your third offense.
Asking for a friend. How hard are they going to enforce parking lot rules in say Lot 18. Like how hard would it be to park using a parking badge from another person?

So we got talking about these tailgating rules today in the lions club lot. What exactly is happening?
In the big money lots they painted a line behind your spot which is how far you are allowed to put stuff out to tailgate. It's to keep a lane open for emergency vehicles and to allow people to get to their spots.
Yep, virtually what was discussed then, ok. I've tailgated once in the shadow of the SEZ...so, whatever lot that is. It felt like we were tailgating in a phone booth. To each their own, but being the mover and shaker that I am, I cannot be contained by such shackles. Kinda /s
Driving into the LC this morning I noticed a much heavier police presence. Passed two walking out of the lot with about 10 zip-tie cuffs each on their hips, then saw two others on another street. Underclassmen have been put on notice.

My only question is will those of us in Lot 2 be required to head back out via 460 now or can we still head down Airport Dr to get to Christiansburg? Heading 460 West is heading in the opposite direction of what I need to do to get home since I live IN Christiansburg.

I think the score and the 4th quarter rain shower spread out the exodus. From looking at traffic map, only Main St downtown looked bad.

So the one change they made that wasn't shown in these photos was that they disallowed traffic on Washington to turn left onto Duck Pond, making people in lot 1 (at the corner of Washington and Spring) to drive all the way up to Prices Fork before getting on 460. Used to be simple, straight shot down to Southgate and then to 460, but that was a mess. Left turns, traffic lights, and football traffic don't mix well.
