In the Seminal Week of the first TKP College Football Fantasy football league, we had 8 winners, 8 losers and a whole lot of Googling going on in our lineups.
BURNT ORANGE DIVISION
Fightin' Meerkats 149.72
757hokie83 121.94
In a matchup featuring two high-scoring QB's, mobile Justin Herbert (ORE QB, 39.34 for 757hokie83) outscored Steven Montez (COLO QB) 39.34 – 37.92. However, the Meerkat WRs and RBs heavily outscored 757hokie83. A respectable 16.3 effort from former Hokie autocorrect favorite Dragon McMillian (RB COLO) was not enough to overcome the difference. The 'Kats will be hitting the waiver wire deep at the TE position, where the starting TE suffered a knee injury on the day of the draft. Backup TE Lou Dorsey failed to play; leaving the status of his chemistry with former Hokie QB AJ Bush in doubt following an indefinite suspension for violation of team rules.

Undefeated matchup featuring Fightin' Meerkats vs The Fue Crew
757hokie83 (0-1) regroups vs kevin's Team (0-1)
The Fue Crew 99.48
For My Peoples 88.70
For my Peoples suffered from an abundance of 5 point efforts that offset strong performances from the USCe battery of Jake Bentley (QB 25.9) & Deebo Samuel (WR, 16.2), and Minnesota RB Rodney Smith (17.9). Peoples couldn't match the firepower of The Fue Crew, who managed this even with two non-scorers in LSU backup kicker Connor Culp and Husker WR JD Spielman (game vs Akron was postponed). 20+ point efforts from Justice Hill (OKST WR) and Tua Tagovailoa (ALA WR) were enough to put The Fue Crew ahead of For My Peoples. One fortuitous run by Cam Akers (FSU RB) on Monday night turned a -2.3 effort into +6.2 points.

Undefeated matchup featuring the Fue Crew & Fightin' Meerkats
For My Peoples (0-1) takes on Hokie Fireman (1-0)
Hokie Fireman 150.12
Walker Hokie Ranger 102.80
Walker Hokie Ranger managed to have five players score 10+ points (headlined by AJ Dillon, BC RB with 19.5 points). This mattered little to superfan Hokie Fireman's chances in this one, who had seven. Two of these high scorers topped 20 points, N'Keal Harry, (ASU WR 29.0) and Raheem Blackshear, (RUTG RB 25.3), while Dwayne Haskins, (tOSU QB) eclipsed 30 points (33.92).
Next week:
Hokie Fireman (1-0) vs For My Peoples (0-1)
Walker Hokie Ranger (0-1) vs nick's Fabulous Team (1-0)
nick's Fabulous Team 124.66
kevin's Team 89.80
In the battle for the illustrious Shift Key, we saw nick's Fabulous Team get almost all the scoring it needed out of two players; Eric Dungey (QB SYR 41.36) and JJ Arcega-Whiteside (STAN WR 45.60). They constituted half of the 40-point scorers this week. Little help was offered nor needed from the remainder of his lineup, as kevin's Team only featured two 25+ scorers in Hokie favorites Trace McSorley (PSU QB 30.5) and Jordan Ellis (LOLUVA RB 26.6). Coupled with two non-scorers; a Nebraska WR and starting BC Tight End Tommy Sweeney (only targeted once), and you've got a recipe for a lopsided matchup.

nick's Fabulous Team (1-0) vs Walker Hokie Ranger (0-1)
kevin's Team (0-1) vs 757hokie83 (0-1)
CHICAGO MAROON DIVISION
Adrianne's Team 174.06
Charlotte Hokies 121.94
Adrianne's Team managed to secure the most points in the league on week 1. In a contest that featured half of the four players to score 40+ points, Mike Weber (tOSU RB) outscored Trayveon Williams (TA&M RB) 43.4-42.7 for the winning team. Five of Adrianne's players scored 18+ points to round out the scoring (Kyler Murray, OU QB,; Tyler Johnson, MINN WR;, Benny Snell, Kentucky RB; Miles Sanders, PSU RB & the BC Defense) while only Arizona QB Khalil Tate managed that feat for the Charlotte Hokies.
Next week:
Adrianne's Team (1-0) vs Blacksburg Cannibals (0-1)
Charlotte Hokies (0-1) vs Hokie in UNC Land (0-1)
Josiah's Team 115.86
Blacksburg Cannibals 95.46
In a matchup featuring several Heisman hopefuls, The Blacksburg Cannibals got a 37.16 point effort from Mountain Jesus, but the scoring fell off sharply from there. Josiah's Team featured Drew Lock (Mizzou QB) and Jonathan Taylor (Wisky RB) with 20+ points while the majority of the rest of the roster chipped in 10+.
Next week:
Undefeated matchup between Josiah's Team & The Fightin Gobblers
Blacksburg Cannibals (0-1) vs Adrianne's Team (1-0)
The Fightin Gobblers 127.76
Dude Bro Diablo 118.22
The Fightin Gobblers managed a win with four 18+ point scorers (Jerry Jeudy, ALA WR 20.4, TaQuon Marshall, GT QB 18.86, Greg Dortch, WAKE WR). Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown stole the lion's share of Fantasy points (22.3) from Dude Bro Diablo's horse in that race, OU TE Grant Calcaterra (0.8). Combined with JK Dobbins getting the floor sweepings (7.4) from tOSU's other RB Mike Weber, it was a rough week that even Dude's lead scorer in this matchup, Emanuel Hall (Mizzou WR, 31.1) couldn't overcome. However, with the trend of non-contributing kicker's this week, it should be noted that The Fightin Gobblers kicker (Joe Crane, WAZZU), likely won't be scoring many points as the recently appointed kickoff specialist.

Dude Bro Diablo (0-1) seeks redemption vs the 1-0 Brooklyn Dirty Birds
Brooklyn Dirty Birds 124.58
Hokie in UNC Land 122.94
In a geographically diverse nail biter, the Brooklyn Dirty Birds managed to survive a late push from Hokie in UNC Land. Featuring a matchup of the top receivers on the Cousins squad (David Sills the Fifth vs. Greg Jennings who's just a measly Jr), both teams managed a 30.9 point scorer (JaMycal Hasty, Baylor RB for the UNC squad and Zack Moss, Utah RB for Brooklyn). The latter squad fronted no kicker and still managed to eke out a win. Itsboldstrategy.gif
Next week:
Brooklyn Dirty Birds (1-0) vs Dude Bro Diablo (0-1)
Hokie in UNC Land (0-1) vs Charlotte Hokies (0-1)
I don't necessarily intend to put out a weekly brief this detailed, but I typed up most of this desperate to stay busy before kickoff yesterday.

I hate when I lose to incomplete teams...
Nice write-up. Needed 2.3 from Akers last night and almost didn't get it until the end. Also, looking like I stole Tua in the 8th round. Sucks that if a guys game gets PPD you have no opportunity to put someone else in.
No idea what I'm doing here. College fantasy football is a lot harder.
Whatever you're doing is working.
While there are twice as many players & teams you'd see in an NFL league, the projection engine Yahoo is running (Rotowire) has been pretty damn good thus far.
There are some glitches; they haven't been changing the PPG projections based on the opponent yet (I imagine in another week or two, once the strength of the defenses are better cemented, this should be in play).
I also have two Louisville players who show zero projected points each week, which is annoying. But when I see something that makes me scratch my head I just do a quick google search and typically found the answer with little trouble. I looked up every player that scored Zero last week and was able to figure out what happened each time.
This is great man, I was wondering where the best place to joke around our games would be. I appreciate the write.
Focused on going 1-0 each week!
PS. This week proves you don't need a kicker to win. Lol
Going forward I think I'll do one forum topic and just make an updated post weekly.
I think your TE has the same glitch that my Louisville guys have- zero points projected but no indication the guy's not playing. Hope they fix that!
I'll also add that it's annoying that you get no notification about a player being sat, suspended or being a gametime decision on a wide enough basis atleast the day before the game. I'm sure the beat writers for teams know this but many times it'll post after the 1st quarter has already started. I enjoy it for sure much more than NFL fantasy, as opponents and conference matter a lot more than just having the best player so it makes it more interesting if you have a more analytical mind.
