They ran the same play like three times in a row. First two times he handed it off and W&M never even blinked at Hooker. I called out that the third time he would keep. And he kept it to the house!
He has some wheels.

I was (sort of) able to watch from a hostel in Tanzania. Loved seeing the score go up up up. Didn't so much love not actually being able to watch most of the plays, though. This was a good performance on a short week. FAM!

Glad to see the team played well. Looks like a couple of things to work out on both sides of the ball but they took care of business appropriately. GO HOKIES!

You know we're in for a good season when we blow teams out like this, even if we're "supposed" to. I'll never forget how many times schools like this hung around in games from 2011-2015.

Goddamn right. Had to leave a bit early cause I had the family. But wife allowed me to have a few road sodas in the passenger seat on the way home. Great win. FAM!!

Jackson is the starter in my book, but next little stumble from him will have all the armchair QBs calling for Hooker, even though we didn't see Hooker throw a pass today.

Of course there will. Hooker looks electric on the ground. Willis can zip the ball. And JJ has experience but seems meh at running and throwing further than 20 yards

Or, you know, these coaches that are getting paid hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars are seeing these kids every day in practice and know a lot more about who should be the starter than we do and why.
If Hooker or Willis were going to be the starter, they already would be. The only thing that's going to change that in the foreseeable future is for J.J. to become injured OR to do something that causes him to be suspended.
Give it a rest, folks. This is getting old. That or convince Whit you're a better coach than Fuente and should be hired to take over the team. Until then, the odds of J.J. being supplanted because it's what you want are worse than the odds of me hitting the Power Ball jackpot twice a week every week for the rest of my life.
Or about the same as the odds of Lawson starting at V.T. ;)

The problem with that statement is we see coaches replaces starters in games and the backup will shine like Louisville this week. Even the really good coaches sometimes leave their best talent on the bench when they shouldn't (see Alabama in the Natty last year).
9/10 times the better qb is starting, but that leaves just enough of a chance to fuel the dreams of irrational fans.
I'm fully behind Jackson as the starter this year btw.

I made a comment on here about how it seems the coaching staff doesn't trust Hooker to throw. That comment was met with responses about how that isn't try and they just wanted to "run down the clock".
The coaches see Hooker throw every week. If the only job he is given is to "run down the clock" there is a reason for that.
Willis came out was passing all over the place.

2nd string QB, Willis, ran the full O, to give him game experience doing so, in case he's needed. 3rd string came in when we had a ~40 pt lead with only 1/2 the 4th quarter remaining and ran 3 running plays that ended with a TD. We only had the ball for 1 more possession with a game situation where we could run out the clock. Nothing about that scenario would justify throwing the ball.
Don't read too much into any of this.

If that was the case Saban would have played Tua all year last year. There is a lot more than just simple talent evaluation hat goes into it. If Saban was gun shy in the natty Georgia probably comes out a champion

Not sure if hooker was that fast or w&m that slow- I'll choose the former until there is more context. However, from that limited sample size, that was the most explosive gallop I've seen on our team since dw. Definitely a different type than dw, who was like a jack rabbit. The hookerman looked like a mustang.

BooHoo's lost to Indiana, again. Their fan (singular) is now adjusting their predicted win totals this year to 7 which matches the amount of fans at their Spring Festivus. LOL FAM!

HOOKER 69 TD FAM.
NICE, FAM
NICE

He has some wheels.
Hooker needs to get more PT if we get up in the next few games. See how he can throw, bc he is only Hokie QB with elite athleticism.
FAM!!

I'm checking in from Key West. Watched on ESPN streaming.
That game rocked from here.
FAM!
Glad to see the team played well. Looks like a couple of things to work out on both sides of the ball but they took care of business appropriately. GO HOKIES!
FAM!
1-0 today. Reset tomorrow.
FAM! Props my WatchESPN stream was surprisingly decent
Wait until it's a competitive game. Watch ESPN will crap out every 5 seconds
So I got to use Hooker and 69 in the same sentence today...FAM!!!!!
2nd time for me. Just don't tell the FAM
FAM! That was too close for comfort, literally came down to the last drive.
Shoot didn't realize we were close to being 1-1
Way to withstand an actual offense!
FAM!
All 3 QBs rush for a TD, fam!
That has to be a Hokie record, right?
Does it count if the OL carried them in on 2/3?
Fam, you don't need RBs when you can QB sneak from the 6 yard line, get pushed in from the 5 on a QB rush, and then have a 69 yard QB keeper.
William and Mary scored almost 600% the points Florida State did.
As long as it doesn't get to 800%, we're good
You know we're in for a good season when we blow teams out like this, even if we're "supposed" to. I'll never forget how many times schools like this hung around in games from 2011-2015.
Agreed. This is the best I've felt about a VT team since the initial ACC years.
Convenient you started that time period at 2011.. 😬
Time to adjust my expectations upward, fam.
One minor negative about today's game was that Bradburn and the punt team never got a chance to get out on the field.
but nice to see Johnson make the 45yd FG!
He Shoot(s) To Thrill.
I see what you did there. This is criminally underrated
Thanks for Givin' the Dog a Bone. :D
Have a drink on me!
No punt Saturday! Fam!
1 minute! I'll drink, fam.
First time since 2010 per VT Football's twitter
Poor Bradburn. I know he wants to get out there and put some people on their asses.
Nobody tell me who won. I was helping a friend in need today, and just starting the to watch the ESPN replay for the first time FAM.
Hey FAM some good action today. That read option by HH was nice.
Ate a turkey leg. Watched a blowout win with my wife and our friends. Enjoyed mostly beautiful weather.
Life is good, fam.
Goddamn right. Had to leave a bit early cause I had the family. But wife allowed me to have a few road sodas in the passenger seat on the way home. Great win. FAM!!
Leg for road sodas
I didn't know road sodas was a widely accepted term. Nice!
The Hype Train Cometh Fam
All TKPers got the opportunity to use the hooker joke they have been sitting on since he commit to VT. And it happened to be a 69 yard run. FAM
If only Pimp was still on the team :-(
This win:
FAM

Hooker & Hazelton were effing LIT
FAM, bitches!!
When Hooker housed that option run, I laughed and said: "looks like there will a QB controversy by Tuesday". Let's see if it takes that long.
Really? I mean do people think coaches whose jobs and future depend on winning ga,es are keeping the best QB as the THIRD string QB?
People will think whatever they want to, often with little regard to how stupid it is.
This is an underrated hot take
Jackson is the starter in my book, but next little stumble from him will have all the armchair QBs calling for Hooker, even though we didn't see Hooker throw a pass today.

He threw a 40 yard rope to Hazelton today tho
Conspiracy theory:
One tKp'r with multiple accounts watching games on alternative vision allowing him to see things no one else sees.
Or, you know, these coaches that are getting paid hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars are seeing these kids every day in practice and know a lot more about who should be the starter than we do and why.

Shhhh don't say things like that on here. Players read these boards. We don't want Lawson to become discouraged or he might transfer.
Edit:
How do I insert a gif?!
I'm sorry....

I couldn't agree with this more

I saw nothing from Willis that made me want him in the game over JJ. Hooker can run well but that's not enough to make any determinations.
Agreed - looks like a good emergency back up, but the eye test says JJ looks like our best option, right now.
Receivers arguably the most most talented and deepest position group. "Put in the guy who can't pass!"
Love this. Leg for you
Childhood in the late 80s/early 90s could be a confusing and terrifying experience.

In the postgame interviews JJ said that Hooker had an almost identical run in a practice/scrimmage .. and we know our D isn't slow
Laze said he made that some run in a practice they watched too.
So with me being the only one out if 5 not being sick in the house, I watched like 4 minutes.... but hey fam, it sounds like we rollin pretty good!
