On ECU's first drive alone, I've already seen three of those PTSD triggering tight coverage receptions by the ECU wide receivers.
update: Dazz Newsome #19 and former Hokie target does look to have a little wiggle and has been one of the few players who has looked somewhat impressive for UNC so far.
update2: Antonio Williams #24 for UNC (believe he's the transfer RB from Ohio STate) looks like the kind of back we have struggled to tackle in previous seasons, but I am encouraged from how we played on Akers and Patrick.
update3: Halftime, I'm impressed by the playmaking ability of the ECU wide receivers in tight coverage. Lots of throwing it up and letting them make a play. I am not impressed with ECU's run defense, I hope we can take advantage of that.
update4: A LOT of the UNC offense seems like throwing it up to #17 Ratliff, who is also a pretty impressive athlete.
Ending thoughts: After finishing the game, the only thing that really gives me pause about ECU is the playmaking ability of their receivers, they are not afraid of contact or making catches in traffic. #88 Trevon Brown has a few impressive grabs with a defender all over him. UNC looks terrible, no idea what their QB situation will look like by the time we play them, but they put a freshman, Cade Fortin, in at the end. ECU does have a running backup QB #12, but he is more of a giant bulldozer type than a scary Summers electric type runner.

Dazz has always been a lone bright spot for them last year and this year. Wish we could have convinced him to come to Blacksburg but luckily we have talent and depth as his position.

ECU is hyper aggressive in the front 7. They are trying to penetrate and disrupt. It is very different from the 3-3 with the strong side popeye pad DE/LB hybrid we used to see.

They certainly looked disruptive at times, they were leaving themselves open for some big plays as well, but they had the UNC offense looking uncomfortable during most drives. The most difficult part for me watching this game was trying to find some perspective on how bad UNC was for comparison. The numbers suggest UNC's defense was pretty strong last week against Cal, but they were having a lot of trouble with the ECU wideouts and had some pretty big gap integrity busts. I've heard and seen few good things about the UNC offense so far.
