Yeah, if one were to compare & contrast production companies to college football teams, the argument could be made that the MCU is the Alabama of cinema.

I guess that makes The Dark Knight equivalent to 2001 Miami.

I came here to post this too.

Overall, I know it's just a teaser trailer - but I'm underwhelmed. It has almost a Green Lantern vibe to it. I'm sure the movie will be much better though. I also don't know shit about Captain Marvel, so that probably doesn't help in my case either.

Either way, I'm still excited, because it means we're that much closer to the next Avengers.

USAF captain, caught in the explosion of a Kree device while in the proximity of the Kree known as the original Captain Marvel. Explosion mutates her DNA, turning her into a human-Kree hybrid while giving her "superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability, a limited precognitive "sixth sense", and a perfectly amalgamated human/Kree physiology that rendered her resistant to most toxins and poisons" and later (as shown in the trailer) the ability to absorb energy and project it in photonic form.

SPOILER ALERT: Fast forward: Rogue (Anna Marie) absorbs power from Captain/Ms Marvel bringing her (Marvel) to within an inch of her life.

Anna Marie, and even absorbed part of Carol's psyche which I'm guessing is why the power drain ended up being permanent since I'm not sure that was ever clarified, or if it was I've forgotten.

Important question, who did marvel pay for the blockbuster product placement?

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Dish Network probably. I think that's who absorbed what was left.

Which is a single store, as of the moment.

They've got some kooky online shit that NOBODY uses too.

could just be centering the timeline. Captain Marvel has been around fighting Skrull invasion all this time and now she's coming out front and center..... something like that maybe

so she just going to punch grandma in the face?

im not familiar with captain marvel either but im sure it will be good. finally will be able to bring my girl with out her only reason for going is because "so and so is so hot" dang strong male leading roles for superheros

it was probably a Skrull since they've had a storied presence in the Marvel Comics universe

here's a reference point: Skrulls

Or maybe a Kree spy?

The fact that it opens with a Blockbuster Video to show that this happened in the long ago past is.....

I feel so old.

Seriously. I was watching and immediately think "Hey that's some nice product placement for Blockbust..... oh...."

Oh hey, the movie opens up on University City Blvd...

When you freeze frame it that way, it's hard to not see that it's a model. Can't unsee that now.

2026 Season Challenge: TBD

I actually have a poster light box in my basement from the Blacksburg Blockbuster.

I honestly thought this girl was in the captain America Movies, she's the blonde agent that helps captain America and I thought there was some retro crossover type thing.

Agent Sharon Carter played by Emily Vancamp

Captain Marvel played by Brie Larson

Edit: they look so alike, thought they were the same person.

Fugazy

She was better in The League

Personally, I was always in the Katheryn Winnick corner

but Larson was a close second

Well, French already hates it. The actress is named after a cheese.

I'm sure he can make an exception for this specific Brie. After all, she is more than qualified for this role.

Remember when Captain Marvel and Superman dated and were in a band together?

Even Captain America made a brief appearance!!

Edit: also, something about her in this role made her insanely hot.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Almost a spitting image for Jennifer Tilley in Liar Liar

Anyone get their tickets to this yet? We got ours at Violet Crown in Charlottesville. The Hoos suck but that's my favorite place to see a movie. We even made a point to go to the one in Austin when visiting over the summer. It's a hair over an hour from Lynchburg but it's worth it for the reserved seating, beer, and food options.

How does the whole eating real food and having a waiter in the theater work. I am easily distracted by people walking around during which makes me a better hunter because I notice the movement when everything should be still, I feel like I would miss half the movie

Depends on where you go, I've been to four (I think)... Movie Tavern, Violet Crown, Alamo Drafthouse, and Cinebistro.

Movie Tavern was okay. They brought the food to you before the movie started. The seating was just rolly office chairs (I think it has since changed, this was six-seven years ago). It was like a normal theater. No big deal.

Violet Crown as I said is my favorite. You order everything outside and take it in with you so there's no wait staff but refills on all soda and large popcorn is free (I think). They have an awesome beer selection and some more chic/hipster menu choices.

Alamo Drafthouse they actually do wait on you but they are really good about it. Once they enter the theater they sneak around crouched down like Arthur Morgan. You write your order down on a little sheet of paper and they grab it and get you what you need. Then I think they do a last call and basically for the last half hour or so (when the movie is really into it) they stop. I hated their popcorn.

Cinebistro was a lot like Alamo but you tell them what you want. They are pretty sneaky as well. Their food and popcorn is better than Alamo.

What I really like about Alamo and Violet Crown is they are very serious about "respecting" the movie. If you're 15 minutes late or something at Violet Crown they don't let you in and both of them are very serious about texting during movies. They will say something to rude folks. I can't stand going to movies where folks are on their phones or talking or audibly reacting to every little thing.

I was really big into the Cinebowl in Blacksburg for the option to take food from the bar into the theater, and at the time they had the nicest seating in the area...

But then the Christiansburg Regal put in the powered leather recliners and I haven't been back to Cinebowl since.

I wish Regal in Lynchburg would put leather recliners in or at least reserved seating. But there's no competition so no need to improve.

Are you still a MoviePass subscriber? I am somewhat impatiently waiting on Regal to create their own version like AMC did, as obviously MoviePass has become less than reliable and I didn't renew when my annual subscription ended in November.

No we finally cancelled last month but I think the last time we used it was to see the Meg in September. It was too hard to use. Im waiting for Regal too. They missed the boat in AMC markets so maybe they think it's not worth it.

I think they were just acquired by a European cinema chain like 9 months ago, so speculation is that they just haven't had time to settle down and make their own. That parent company is known for a subscription based service in Europe, so hope is alive.
