Some folks' fixation on uniforms is fascinating to me. When nearly everyone from Rutgers to Ohio State is running more than two uniform combinations why are we getting hung up on how much success meets the threshold for getting more uniforms?

If uniforms are a big enough distraction to warrant them being taken away then we should ban all of our players from social media too. I see uniforms as the most bizarre scapegoat in Virginia Tech football fandom.

Pretty sure the "we lost because orange pants" superstition is mostly a joke, but one rooted in VT history since Beamer himself refused to use orange uniforms again for over a decade after some particularly bad loss (I forget which one).
I'm not trying to blame the uniforms for the loss last Saturday. I'm also not saying that the players weren't practicing as hard because they were thinking about how great they'd look in the white matte helmets. However, the team was absolutely not focused on Saturday, and I don't think it's unreasonable for Fuente to say "I don't want you thinking about anything this week other than your schoolwork and how to prepare for Duke this weekend". That includes which uniform combo might look like "straight fire" under the lights in Durham, even if only for a few minutes.

...we lost toUVA in the DeShazo years (1993 or 1994?). Wore MOO...and that orange was bright! Pretty sure I remember correctly that we had 245 turnovers in that game.

Reminds me of when I want to say Dan Hawkins removed the logo from the helmets of Colorado and made the players 'earn it'... I think it lasted a year before he put them back on. It didn't work, they still sucked.

Well, we just had a starter get kicked off the team for a supposed locker room altercation. It wouldn't be crazy for there to be a perception that the team isn't united, even if it is very united.

How about instead of worrying about have 27 different uniform changes each season we just worry about being able to cover and tackle players from lower tier schools? I think winning games that we should win would be much more important to recruiticorns.... *jumps off soapbox

I don't think the team/coaches are thinking about uniforms at all, I don't care how flashy they are or anything like that. I just think the orange uniforms are not as good looking as the maroon/white versions, and as such prefer we don't wear orange that much.
I do wish the maroon uniform featured more orange. If only we could have the single sleeves back. Those were awesome and I'm fully aware of the minority I'm a part of with that statement.

Duke is an away game, which is why it's a white uni. That's how it should be, but home unis should be maroon.
