It's definutely possible that we go this entire season without having a nooner (Pitt and BC are the best shots but both could easily be 330s). I can't remember but I'm fairly certain that's never happened. Has anyone checked that?

Last year had 2 12:20 games so not technically "nooner"s. So last year
Any game on the ACC Network that has the ACC Blitz attached to the beginning of the broadcast pushing the kickoff to 12:20 or 12:30 counts as a nooner.

Well, last year might count, depending on how you feel about the difference between 12:00 and 12:20, since we had 2 of the "slightly after noon" kickoffs.
In 2011, our earliest kickoff was 12:30.
If Wikipedia can be trusted, the last time before 2011 we didn't have a 12:00 kickoff was 1987 when the earliest kickoff time was 1:00, which happened for 7 of our 11 games, with another at 1:30 and 3 away games in prime time.
1987 is the earliest year for which Wikipedia has times listed for our games, or else I might go back even further.
Games were shorter back then. They probably did 1pm, 4pm, 7pm for TV games.
I graduated in '87 and went to every game during my 4 years, but having some difficulty remembering the start times...... something, something, bourbon......
Although, not sure how often we were even on TV then. 1pm might have just been the default start time for non-televised games.

If we don't have any nooners this year, we would have to put an asterisk on this season thanks to the ECU game that never happened. It was scheduled for 12:20 on Raycom.
It eats me alive that we missed out on a quality raycom broadcast.

12:20 is not noon, its 20 mins after noon, which is plenty of time for like 20 shots

It was actually at noon but it took 20 minutes for joey slyes kick to come down so they just told everyone to turn it on at 12:20

Night games are the best for parents of young kids. Nothing harder than trying to watch game when outside playing a nerf battle
Minor clarification
For those of us that are season ticket holders and camp in Blacksburg 5-8 weekends a year night games can become a challenge. I luck out this year and my best friend's SO is staying at the camper to watch the kids while he, Mrs.PailHolder and his daughter go into the game. No way I'm taking a 2.5 yr old and a 5 yr old into the ND game.
I'm confused. Why not get a nooner before a night game? That way you'll be happy before the Hokies play.

No problem. just a shock given our history.
I'm not a fan of the noon games. Doesn't give enough time to tailgate. If it were left to me, we would never have a noon game.
If the Friday game against UVA isn't at night, I will be very upset. That is the only reason the Tech should ever play on a Friday.
One of the reasons we got the night games on Black Friday was because Iowa was playing, and it gets extremely cold at night there, so they stuck with day games.
However, Iowa is already scheduled for noon on Fox. And ESPN has Oklahoma at WVU scheduled for 8 PM.
Looks like any prime time game would be on 2 or U.
This year might set the record for most regular season night games (7pm start or later) in a season for the Hokies. The most in one season that we could find was 6, which was set last year.
If the record isn't broken this year it's a disappointment, since we're at 5 scheduled already with Miami still on the schedule and a Friday game against UVA, which has been a nighttime kickoff each time that's happened recently.
It's bad enough that we have to play UVA on Friday when the students are not back on campus yet and we have to travel down that day. Anything but a night game is unworkable. This Friday after Thanksgiving crap has to stop.
The students who want to go to the game will be back.
We filled the north endzone in a 5-6 season on a Friday night when it was sub-20° out in 2014. We'll be fine.
After I got through my freshman year, 4 or 5 days at home was enough and I wanted to go back to Blacksburg. A football game was a good excuse.
