I personally think if house plays house should get it! although devine doablo had a pretty good special teams game last week and Chris Cunningham does an outstanding job of blocking and attacking the punter on punt return opening up lanes for someone else or himself to get a block.
anyways I got to thinking how much is must suck for guys that are on the line. they will never get the 25. i doubt we ever see a qb wear the 25 either. I realize its a special teams honor but sometimes i think they just give it to the guy who they need a big game from to hype him up, and linemen while getting no glory can be key contributors on special teams in areas that may not show up on the stat sheet.
that being said who do you guys think should rock the 25 this week? I kinda wish they would let the fans engage in this one and do a weekly poll and let us pick. Itd be a good way to engage hokie nation a little more. maybe give us 3 or 4 options a week and let us pick the winner. curious as to how you all would vote.

Who do I Hope gets it?
Shadley.
Quietly this whole season, our long snapper has been running down the field, often first to get to the fair-catcher, and just playing an awesome game of tag.
would he technically be allowed to though? Oline guys have to wear certain #s. so im not sure if he could even be a candidate. which is stupid if you ask me. what # he wears shouldn't matter but some rule made up in the 1600s that has never been updated.
I believe long snapper doesn't fall under the o-line number rule. In certain trick play formations, the long snapper can be an eligible receiver. So in this instance, if the long snapper is wearing an ineligible number, the coaches have to notify the refs that that player is eligible, then the refs make an announcement notifying the other team. So I would make the long snapper have a eligible number so the announcement wouldn't have to be made.
I hadn't thought about this in regards to our oline. What happens when we decide an olineman deserves the 25? Could we make them eligible for every play?
Rule is there for a reason, it's to more easily distinguish between eligible receivers and linemen. Considering how hard it is to enforce line-related rules already, every little bit helps
With all that he has been through, I'd love to see House play with the #25 and have one hell of a game.
Agreed....House would be my vote and guess who gets it.
I agree House would be my first choice. If not, what about Rambo?
House might not play this weekend. Nothing confirmed yet.
I would love to see Hezekiah Grimsley get it. He's is very physical team oriented, and throws blocks. All day.
Fuente "anticipates" having Gaines available.
If Gaines plays, Gaines gets the jersey, along with about 4 sacks, an interception for a TD, and 2 forced fumbles.
And he's taking the Leprauchan's hat, too!
I thought at one point it was supposed to be reserved for great special teams play? In that case, I'd go with Quillen.
Originally, yes... But I'd like to see it extended to all players to reward the top performer from the previous game or week of practices. Frank was more than just a special teams coach for us, he was a great head coach and a reward in his name should be for the whole team.
At least that's my opinion
right but I highly doubt quillen gets it 2 out of 3 weeks.
If House doesn't play, what about Jordan Stout?
Dude has had 28 Kickoffs, 26 Touchbacks- 93% Touchback Percentage.
Rayshard Ashby would be a great candidate. He was on fire last weekend.
Gonna need an even bigger game from him this Sat.
Inb4 "it could be anybody because it's based on practice"
it could be anybody because it's based on practice
i think that's what they say to try and motivate kids to have a good practice but we have no evidence of that, and it seems like its been more so based on game play or need of game play at the time than anything else.
SPECIAL TEAMS PRACTICE!
If not Gaines, then whichever WR had the best day blocking as that was a point of major impact during the Duke game. Kumah?
I'm pretty sure Ricky Walker has worn the 25 jersey before
I thought only the oline had number restrictions? Hence the Settle Walker 4-8 defense last year. I may be misremembering though.
I don't believe there are rules for college, only preferences or recommendations.
yeah only Oline is regulated. there are no other regulations. lol sorry big fellas once again you get no love.
Leonard Approved.
I like it! hes been playing his nuts off! the bad game at ODU kinda threw him back under the radar at a position he hasn't practiced for probably. hes been a play maker a whip like crazy though!
This is a great decision! However, I was hoping House would get the 25 this week. And yes, I know it's based on how a player practiced.
I keep seeing these and I'm confused as to which game we're playing. It goes to 12 but Game 5 is highlighted.
They were probably too lazy to take the 12 off and are expecting that we'll either play in the ACCCG or schedule a 12th game.
