Best place to watch ND game in Chicago

Hey fam,

I found out a couple weeks ago that my Cane wife and I are heading to Chicago next weekend for a wedding including another Cane (fortunately the wedding is Sunday night). Since there's gonna be a bunch of Canes in attendance, they're getting a reservation somewhere to watch their game against FSU. I kinda expected that we'd be on at the same time, but since they're at 3:30 and we're playing ND at 8pm I should be able to move to another location to watch our game.

Anybody know of a Hokie-dominated spot in Chicago?

Tobacco Road Tap Room is where the local alumni club host watch parties. You can even get a Turkey leg.

Do I need to call anybody for a reservation, or do I just show up wearing maroon and orange?

Just show up. Odds are you'll see Willis' sister there too. If you want a table I'd suggest getting there 45 minutes early.

Rip his freaking head off!

Just show up in Maroon and Orange and find a friendly face! We try and welcome anyone to our table whenever its gameday in Lincoln Park

So, we'll be watching the FSU-Miami game at Flagship Tavern, about 1.7 miles northwest of Tobacco Road. Game starts at 2:30 and should end around 6-6:15, giving us just enough time to walk down.

Is that a decently safe walk? I imagine it'll be well past dusk at that point, and I've never been to that part of town. Also, are we going to have any issues getting in? Will it be full by 10 minutes prior to kickoff?

It won't be full so don't worry about that, but I'd highly advise an uber if it's that far. It'll cost you like 5 bucks at the most. If you're going to walk Lincoln ave you'll be fine at that time

I've been out around Roscoe Village/Wrigleyville well past midnight and three sheets to the wind multiple times. One of the safest parts of the city. You'll be fine if you decide to walk.

Last year I had to go on the road for 5 months for what was effectively 5 individual month long job auditions. On of those months was was in a town about 45 minutes south of Chicago. It was during late August/ early September so right at the start of football season. It was my second month on the road and I didn't know anyone. The house I was staying at was...let's just say not football fans. So I wanted to go watch the Hokies so I found the alumni group on Facebook and found out where they met. Went to the first weekend game I could and I had a blast. Everyone was so friendly and since I knew no one they welcomed me like only Hokies know how. They invited me out to a Cuban restaurant after a Hokies win and I felt at home for the first time on the road. My point being I showed up all alone wearing orange and maroon and was welcomed like an old friend. I really appreciated that. The alumni group up in Chicago is great and if any of them are on here I wanted to say thanks you guys really made what was a terrible month (I hated that job) actually bearable.

Inferno,

That was me and my buddies, it was great having you and you're welcome back anytime!

Damn. You would think all the Miami fans would be at the game in FL instead of Chicago.....

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

First, make reservations at sushi o sushi, enjoy unlimited sushi and sake bombs. Then take an Uber to south bend and watch it at their most popular Notre Dame bar, Linebackers. Then after we beat that ass, go streaking at their stadium.

Ugh, we just got to our hotel in Skokie, about 2 hours later than expected. And off of only 3 hours sleep since we had to wake up at 3 (our time) to catch our flight.

I think we're gonna just try to post up at a place right around the hotel instead of spending the extra time and effort getting down to Lincoln Park and back.

Thanks for all the advice, since I seem to find myself back in the area about once a year it'll almost certainly be relevant again.

If you want to go no frills, and you're nearby, there's a pretty happening Wild Wings at Westfield Old Orchard.
