Gambling Lines, Week 7

Last week was...rough. You know it's bad when the highlight of your gambling weekend is NC State managing a push at -5 so at least you got your money back. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

On to this week's spreads.

  • Miami (-6) vs. LOLUVa. This should be a gimme right? LOLUVa sucks more than their record shows and Miami is "bak." What we have here is the gambling version of a perpetual motion machine. LOLUVa always sucks and Miami always disappoints. Not gonna touch it...Ok, if we're honest I'll probably still touch it, but that's because of my eternal optimism when it comes to LOLUVa losing.
  • VT (-5.5) vs. UNCheat. I know you're never supposed to bet on your own team, but dammit if this doesn't look like easy money. This line is brought to you buy people who think UNCheat has a home field advantage. They didn't see anything but the score from the ND game and assume we were never competitive. VT by double digits.
  • UCLA (+7) vs. Cal. I have nothing to say about these odds because I honestly didn't know these were two different teams.
  • Mizzou (+28.5) vs. Bama. This is your weekly "sure the spread looks ridiculous against a P5 team and this is finally the week Bama fails to cover" bet. Don't do it. If you must bet on this, bet on Bama. Or make like 2 cents on the Bama ML.
  • UTenn (+16.5) vs. Auburn. First of all, to my UT fan brothers-in-law, HA. OK, now that that's out of the way, I fully expect Auburn to roll the volunteers to the tune of 3 TDs. They are looking to run up the score after last week
  • Michigan State vs. Pedo State. To borrow a line from PCU: "Nobody cares who wins because they're all assholes who cover for sexual predators anyway."

As always, please do not take my ramblings as legitimate gambling advice. You will lose your shirt and anything else you're foolish enough to bet based on my idiocy. Also, a fun tidbit about the Miami game. LOLUVa is hosting a big young alumni weekend. The main event starts at 9 pm Saturday. The Miami game is at 7pm. They are basically admitting that this game will be out of hand by half time and that their young, energetic "fans" should just go do something else.

For some strange reason that only the ancient Football Gods of the cosmos know, Miami has been known to struggle with the Hoos in Charlottesville.

However, with them suffering the scare last week with the lethally simple Noles, they're probably mad enough to kick the shit out of the Hoos this time around. If Miami had rolled the Noles last week, I'd probably take the Hoos and points.

Leonard. Duh.

Bama will cover in the first quarter. I'd also take Pitt +21. Seems like a a perfect let down game for ND.

Pitt just confuses me. They are an embarrassment some weeks and then manage to pull off a win against Syracuse the next. I honestly don't know what to expect from them. And then throw in how up and down ND has been (close wins over crap teams, blowing us out, etc). I was leaning hard towards Pitt +21 but I think I'm just gonna sit that one out.

It's far from a sure thing but I look at that line and feel the same way I felt about the FSU line last week. It just seems like the perfect storm for a WTF Pitt moment.

Looks like some oddsmakers finally stopped giving Rutgers benefit of the doubt lol... +24? sheesh

FYI they lost and didn't cover a 24 point spread

Take Colorado +7 at SC

I put a lot of money on Tech the second I saw that line. Besides destroying this team the last two years, Fuente is 6-1 ATS coming off a loss. That line will only go up (it went up by half a point within a couple hours) so get it while ya can.

Agreed. Thought we would be -10 or better.

Never done online betting, any recommendations on the best site(s) to use?

Bovada is probably good for beginners. I've never used it but that's just because I got lucky and was set up with a bookie early on. Bovada has a ton of fun stuff, you can bet really small amounts (some sites have minimum bets) and it has a solid reputation.

My humble regards; thank you, sir.

Also if you want a quick jump on the week, I love App State tonight. Super high powered offense against a pretty weak all around Arkansas State team. App State is 4-0 ATS while Ark St is 1-4. App is also really strong on the ground and that is a hugeee weakness for Ark St. Yes, Bama ran for 278 on them, but after 5 games they've avg 244 allowed per game. I will probably also look at the second half line for this game if it is even a little bit close. Teams that can run the ball well can kill clock and score drives to seal games late. Second half lines for teams like that are always worth looking at.

I'll take ASU...

You do know that Bama has failed to cover the last 3 weeks in a row, right?
Week 4: Favored by 27 over Aggy. Won by 22
Week 5: Favored by 48.5 over ULL. Won by 42
Week 6: Favored by 35 over Arkansas. Won by 34

If you can find one, bet Bama to cover the first half spread. Their starters will still be playing, and it is usually half of the total line (although it might be bumped up a little for Bama). Bama is 12-0 against first quarter and first half spreads this year.

^Yup. Bet them first half last week and they wouldve covered it two weeks ago as well. I wouldn't blindly play it every week, but when they're playing a team where the spread > 30 then its usually a solid bet to get them to cover in the first half.

holy crap. I see Vegas adjusted to Bama's scoring output. The over for the Mizzou game is 74 (compare to last week's 56 which was about half the final combined score).

I lost out on so much free money last weekend by having to leave Nevada early. I prefer playing the O/U bets because it's the same payout and generally safer than playing the spread. Literally every bet I had circled would have paid out.
