Enter Sandman has been associated with VT football for nearly two decades. Many people don't know much about the song, or even Metallica.
Anyway, my wife and I were trying to explain Enter Sandman to a Ugandan friend of ours and the discussion sparked a debate. My wife thought it would be interesting to get TKPs side(s).
I think the sandman is a good guy. Trying to show people that fears are manufactured. Whisking them away from their fears to never never land.
Here's what my wife thinks: the sandman is an ominous character, when he enters he makes you fall into the never never land of your mind and dreams filled with beasts. Better grip your pillow tight.
What does TKP think?

Hank is the Sandman. Frank keeps a watchful eye over him to ensure his powers are used for good, not evil.
According to James Hetfield:

I am really, really glad our iconic stadium entrance song isn't about crib death
For Lane Stadium purposes your wife is right :)

I don't know about you guys, but when I hear Enter Sandman, I imagine James Hetfield's voice is actually Bud Foster angrily pacing around a room punching things and singing the song.
Found him guys
We all know the "sandman" is actually
Sidenote I think the Hokie mascot sideline costume should be slightly remade to look a whole lot more jacked than he does currently. Still with that goofy look on his face of course but yeah make him swole
Actually, in the first picture, Hokie Bird is the Hulk.
Did they ever officially release the one on the right? I saw it a few days before our game against FSU, and they showed it on screen I think at the beginning of the game, but I never found a hi res pic.
I've done two google searches, and I can't find it. All of the articles only mention four games with the images - Miami/LSU, Alabama/Louisville, Oregon State/Ohio State, and Washington/Auburn.
When I imagine the sandman, only Freddy comes to mind...

You ever visit r/cfb in the off-season?
Whenever I hear the term/name Sandman outside of the context of "Enter Sandman"/VT, it always brings to mind the "Mr. Sandman" sequence from Back to the Future.
That's DR Sandman to you.
