2018 Six Pick Week 9

Well that was more like it. Nice to see the more bell curve-style distribution last week, with multiple 5's and no 0-fer's. Not counting Week 1, Birdman's now opened up a 2-game lead over Matt Grigg and ashore13. VTBandit's 3 back, and it'll be tough for the rest of us to catch up.

Arizona St
USC (-4)

Fun Fact #1: After starting off 2-0 (including a win over Michigan State), ASU's gone 1-4 and is in danger of missing a bowl.
Fun Fact #2: USC's a whopping 2-5 against the spread.

PICK: That second fact gives me pause. But Arizona State on the road doesn't give me much to believe in. I'll take USC to cover.

Florida
Georgia (-7)

Fun Fact #1: I guess I hadn't been paying attention, but Florida's 6-1 against the spread this year. Their only loss was to Kentucky, when they actually lost to Kentucky. That's also their only straight-up loss this season.
Fun Fact #2: This is the first time in 10 years both teams are in the AP top 10 for the cocktail party.

PICK: Jake Fromm struggled last week, and now there's some QB controversy going on in Athens. Give me Florida to cover the spread but lose.

Iowa
Penn State (-7)

Fun Fact #1: Even Kirk Ferentz isn't immune to having to deal with players' obnoxious families.
Fun Fact #2: Penn State's now 3-13 against OSU, Michigan, and Michigan State under James Franklin.

PICK: They just don't win the big games. And they don't cover here, either. Give me Iowa and the points.

Kentucky
Missouri (-7)
Weird Kentucky infiltration in Missouri

Fun Fact #1: While everyone focuses on RB Benny Snell, Kentucky QB Terry Wilson is quietly having a Dave Meyer-esque season. He's been patiently conserving his passing yards to spend later, having not expended more than 151 of them against an FBS team this year, and going 3-9 for 18 yards (!) last week.
Fun Fact #2: After finishing .500 last year, Missouri's 0-3 in the SEC so far.

PICK: I feel like this game should be a pick'em. Kentucky's like those mid-00's VT teams, completely inept passing and nasty on defense. I'll take them to at least cover.

Washington State
Stanford (-3)
Shaw doesn't just coach, he can do crappy magic tricks

Fun Fact #1: Washington State finally got to host GameDay last week, joining the likes of Troy, Amherst, Delaware State, and Williams. I'm sure UVA will host it one day.
Fun Fact #2: Sounds like Stanford RB Bryce Love is banged up. That's not good.

PICK: Won't matter. This is an obvious letdown opportunity that Mike Leach won't let get away. Stanford wins handily.

Texas (-3.5)
Oklahoma State

Fun Fact #1: Weirdly for a Big XII team, Texas actually has a salty defense. They're giving up just 23 points/a game against P5 teams.
Fun Fact #2: Oklahoma State's giving up 37 points/game against P5 competition.

PICK: This line seems strangely low. I'll take Texas all day here.

DRINK OF THE WEEK

Maybe I'm old, but when did Pedialyte become the go-to hangover drink? Back in my day, we had the blue Gatorade and we liked it. I haven't had to make use of either of late, but for some reason just the thought of knocking down a bottle of this stuff makes me cringe a little. Those of you who have done this, how did it go?
