at this point I want it to be 12 Noon
I'm gonna have to bring the Bullwhip to the tailgate seeing as I haven't yet and we are ass.
I'd bet that we're on ESPNU again.
That post didn't age well. Somehow, we managed the main ESPN channel.
ESPNU has Texas Tech at K-State and ESPN2 has BC at FSU. WVU at Ok State got ABC.
I was really pulling hard for 3:30 a.m. time slot.
hilarious that this is our worst team since
20121992 and yet there are no nooners. That 1992 team was better than this one, they played with a lot more fire and had a lot of close losses. This team has several embarrassing defeats to (perceived) inferior opponents.
At least the 2012 team lost some close games. They were 2 last minute touchdowns from being 8-4.
.... yes they were 2 last second field goals from being 4-8 too but don't worry about the details
Lol, no nooners this year
Couldn't UVA still be a nooner? All we know is that it will not be a night game as there is only one that day (OK/WVU). There are 4 slots to fill between ABC/ESPN 12 and 3:30 games.
UVA won't be at noon. The whole point of it being on Friday is to get a better time slot. 3:30 at the latest. Maybe even something weird like 5pm.
That's not how it works on Black Friday.
Now that it's close enough, schedule grids are coming out. There are four available timeslots:
-noon, ABC
-noon, ESPNU
-3:30, ABC
-4 PM, ESPN
WVU/Oklahoma is already 8 PM on ESPN. ESPN2 has no football. Basketball is filling out the rest of the schedule.
4pm. Called it.
4 time slots for....
UCF @ USF (I guess 3:30 ABC)
UVA @ VT (I guess 4PM ESPN)
East Carolina @ Cincy (I guess noon ESPNU)
Houston @ Memphis (I guess noon ABC)
I think UVA @ VT & Houston @ Memphis are toss ups for the 4PM ESPN and noon ABC slots but my guess is they give the G5 teams the ABC time slots.
Part of the American TV deal is that they get a certain number of games on ABC. Usually, Black Friday is one of those.
I could see our game getting on ABC just because it's the only P5 game in that group.
Because even in our worst season fans still tune in for our games.
Do they just track if you tune in or do you have to watch the entire game for "credit"? I've only watched 2-3 of our games in their entirety this year and I consider myself to be a pretty good
masochistfanI'm actually excited for a 330 game.
As much as people are down after the past few games, 3:30 is always the perfect college football game time, especially this late in the season. Warmest part of the day (looking like 45 for next Sat.) Enough time for the Richmond/DC crowd to make it down and even back after the game if they want. And local parents still can do kids sports and other activities and still get to the game. Not to mention folks are less trashed than they would be for a night game.
I figured we would. They're gonna pair us opposite a bigger game to force people to watch the other one. Basically burning a timeslot on us.
Didn't Whit say a couple years ago, given his preference, 3:30 would be when our games would kick? It's just coming to fruition.
Yeah, but unless this game is streaming only, he doesn't have control over game time.
For all the proper strings Whit has been able to pull in his time here, it wouldn't surprise me if he somehow figures out a way to make it happen.
Now if he would please turn his attention to all of the problems plaguing our football team!
Definition of irony: We're honoring the 1993 team that started the bowl streak at the game our bowl streak could end. 2008 acc championship team getting honored too.
Think we could get the NFL London time slot? 9 am on a Sunday? Except, not on TV? Pls. @ESPN?
Basically a neutral site game. Almost no students will stick around for a Saturday 3:30 game before Thanksgiving. Especially for those of us planning on coming back early for the UVA game...
How much break do they get? I only get Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Students are off all week. Don't expect many to be there for Miami the way things are going. They'll likely rather be home.
I'm going up to Blacksburg for the game and am more excited for rails than I am the game.
You know it's bad when hotel rooms for Miami week are in abundance.
Damn that's a nice break. Are y'all off Monday also?
The Monday after Thanksgiving? No. The break is just the week of Thanksgiving (which is how it's been for a long time at VT).
No this Monday for Veterans Day?
No.
Whaaat?! This was the best game for extracurriculars. You have no class for a week after! Nothing to do but drive home after your hangover subsides, or hell wait until Monday when the traffic is lighter. Would you rather sit in your parents basement a few more days or tailgate, football, bars/house party, co-eds a few more days? I think you may be underestimating college students.
Lets get there and be loud people! Fighting for bowl eligibility this week!
