Well isn't this just a record setting season for so many reasons? Let's add "no nooners" to the list of firsts for our dear hokies.
I think the ACC and ESPN are getting back at us for years of bitching about nooners.
You want to get your shitty game over with at the beginning of the day? Tough. You'll lose in primetime in front of everyone.
We are gonna pay for it big time next year with that ass of a schedule we have.
Our schedule next year is the same as this year, except we swap W&M and FSU for Furman and Wake Forest.
Now if only we'd also swap ECU for someone else.
Well I mean we played Notre Dame this year.
And we play them next year.
Sorry. I was referring to the home schedule.
I already said the Miami time was unfavorable for students, and same thing here. I doubt that many students will drive back Black Friday morning
They better! They don't have any $$ to spend on Black Friday anyway.
Back in my day (2004 & 2006), I woke up at 5 AM to make the 6 hour drive back for the nooners against UVA, no chance I was going to miss the annual whooping of the hoos.
Personally, I intend to go back for UVA but I don't think I'm staying for Miami. A 5 hour drive home after the Miami game on Saturday is too much. Also my ride is going home on friday anyway... Sucks because it'll be my first missed home game in my third year as a student. But I do think a lot of people will skip both games.
I hate the concept of having rivalry weekend on Thanksgiving weekend. People want to spend that weekend at home/on vacation with family. The games are always half full outside of the most premier rivalries. Move rivalry weekend up a week then play conference championships Thanksgiving weekend. I understand skipping that game (I never did, but it was difficult getting back to Blacksburg for it), and I understand not going to Miami this year. We shouldn't be scheduling home games the week before Thanksgiving because of the way our break is scheduled.
I know Tech football has been disappointing this year, but I am infuriated that we are playing a non nighttime game on Black Friday. The only time VT should agree to play football on a non-Saturday is for a night game only.
To be fair, it won't be a non-nighttime game for very long. My thoughts on 3:30pm kick in late November...
3:30 kick the day after Thanksgiving is ridiculous. Even if both teams were good, this is extremely difficult to travel to. Most of the fanbase, and the students who will be on break, live 3+ hours away. I'm going down for that weekend and there's no way I see a trip from NOVA arriving before gametime unless I leave at the buttcrack of dawn.
One thing this season has taught me, we will bitch about literally any start time. It's right up there with uniforms.
