For The 3rd Time in 20 Years, UVA is Favored Over VT

UVA opens up as a 4 or 4.5 point favorite at Lane Stadium on Friday. Since 1997, Tech has been the underdog just 2 other times.

2003: UVA was a 2.5 point favorite in Charlottesville (UVA won 35-21)
2014: UVA was a 2 point favorite in Blacksburg (Tech won 24-20)

Prior to 2014, the last time VT was a HOME underdog against UVA was 1992. We were 7 point underdogs and Tech lost 41-38.

It'll be interesting to see how UVA handles being the team EXPECTED to win this match-up for once.

I'm honestly surprised the line is as low as it is. We be getting blown out in Lane this year

Onward and upward

Yeah, the oddsmakers aren't giving UVA much credit.

Fuck 'em.

Let's do the damn thing.

They have earned it. They have a winning record and we have to pull out two upsets in a row to make a bowl game. That being said it is loluva and we don't have wine tastings and zima at our tailgates so fuck them!

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Just means we can see more of this

Gobble Till You Wobble

When i see the 3rd pic, this is what i see:

"let's lay over the wall like we're upset cuz that one kid did it vs Notre Dame on a heart breaking last second touchdown and he got a famous meme made about him"

"Nooooooooooo!"
~What happened?
"James Franklin to Virginia Tech...."
~Fuck me......*sigh*
"Oh my God.... They're gonna take all our recruits... like WTF bro...."
~*squints eyes in disbelief*

I don't see us being within 14.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

winning by more than two touchdowns. Nice.

I do art stuff.

We are unplugging the TV and going to an outdoor concert in Charleston SC. Not gonna waste my time watching high school football on TV.

To each their own I guess. For me, The Hokies have given me so many great memories over the years that I will watch regardless of how poor the result. It also feels a bit hypocritical to make fun of UVA fans for poor support If I am not willing to support the Hokies when things are down.

There are definitely things we can do to win this game.

  1. Limit turnovers. Miami got two touchdowns immediately after turnovers.
  2. Sound special teams. Miami got one touchdown on a punt return

Miami scored 21 points off of Virginia Tech mistakes. That puts their offenses performance at 17 points. Which, honestly, is not on the defense. Miami's S&P+ average on the year is 29.8 (ranked 56) and UVA's is 29.0 (ranked 64), which is even behind our offense.

Miami's defense is ranked 13 with an S&P+ of 17.0 points.

UVA's defense is ranked 35 with an S&P+ of 23.0 points.

If we can hold UVA's offense to 17 points, which I'm sure can AND we can limit mistakes. I am certain we can score enough on offense to win.

It's not a gimme but I think this team has it in them. They don't even need a flawless performance to get there. They just need a good one.

3. Actually play in the 3rd quarter

So THAT's been what's missing.

Good eye.

There were three plays in that Miami game that swung the tide. Three plays that VT just hasn't made this year:

1. QB threw it right to the MLB. We need a QB to just make a brain dead throw to us. Have we had an easy interception all year?

2. Our WR just fumbled a ball in open field relatively untouched and we had nobody around to recover it. Since the FSU game, have we had that type of free fumble?

3. Punt return for a TD. I know we haven't done that all year, but it wasn't even a great return, we just isn't tackle .....or make that much effort.

So we need this type of stuff. Unforced type of gift turnovers and STs TD. We need some help.

Or... We just don't repeat those issues against UVA.

Miami's offense is better (S&P+ 56 vs 64) as is Miami's defense (S&P+ 13 vs. 35).

We basically gifted Miami 21 points.

I am off the day after Thanksgiving and will be drinking bourbon and eating venison chili with the fam while cussing at the TV during the game. I love football. I hope Foster just takes over the whole damn game. All the best to the Hokie families this Thanksgiving weekend!

If they don't beat us this year the streak will go on for many more years cause we haven't been this low in ages, that said I hope the players have a hell of a fire in their belly's to go out and show UVA who's the big brother

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

If they don't beat us this year the streak will go on for many more years

Lol that's exactly what we said last year.

Using /s is for cowards.

And we won last year. Coincidence? I think not.

I think we CAN win this game, easy. But the same was true of BC and Miami 🤷‍♂️

Boston College was a 10 point game. Miami should have been a 10 point game. Miami scored 21 points off of two turnovers and a punt return. Both Miami and BC have better defenses than UVA.

Our team has to come out inspired but also remain disciplined.

I hope we have enough of everything on our side to win this week's game like:

Let's Go

HOKIES

the line has moved to 3.5. While the betting public is usually stupid, I'm gonna take this as a good sign that the betting public doesn't buy the LOLUVa hype either.
