I have a lot of respect for Perkins. The guy played his heart out tonight. He's a big reason why UVa made such a drastic improvement this year. Beating UVa next year in Whoville will be just as tough as it was tonight mainly because he'll be under center.

Yup he's a baller. But he learned this year and will be reminded again next year that he should have stayed in Arizona.
Don't get me wrong I'm happy we won, but damn that's gotta be a gut wrenching way to lose for him. He literally gave the game away with that miscue in OT. That's going to be a tough one to live with the next 12 months.
He's going to make it his mission to redeem that next year. Our team better be ready for it.
Well he now joins a long list of hoo qbs who got to think about it for a year!!
If next year this offense can develop as it should (is it too much to ask for an offense that can jump up on the opponent, and keep the foot to the pedal?), and the defense returns to normal... they've got no shot.
FTFY
This is the correct statement.
So it seems.
"He's going to make it his mission to redeem that next year."??? Since it was the entire program's mission to do just that this year, what makes you think we'd have to worry about it next year?
I might be missing some one, but Perkins is the UVA player I respect the most since Chris Long. I'm not sure who else is on that list (probably Vic Hall)
They really haven't had any respectable players since Chris Long.
Really? This guy? Pfffft, he's a grade A weeeeenie too.
Guy donated his entire 2017 salary to charity.
He's a good dude.
Yup, but that coat does make me think less of him.
Donate your salary to charity and win a Super Bowl and you can wear whatever you want boss.
He tried to steal my gif in high school....she is now my wife.....FUCK THAT GUY
So you're saying he has good taste in women?
I guess I am saying my wife probably really fucked up...
Agreed, Chris Long was a grade A douchebag in HS. People grow up, though, sometimes.
Nah, he's OK.
Chris Long will donate every game check for 2017 to charity
In other words, he's already rich.
It's not like he didn't get a LOT of press over doing that.
You sound like Britt McHenry (aka the crazy former ESPN reporter who claimed ESPN fired her because she was a white conservative):
Even if he did for the publicity, a lot of charities benefited from his actions. Don't be that guy.
Btw, Britt is qualified af:
She is qualified, which I guess explains why she will have a streaming service before the ACC gets one.
Perhaps it's possible to Philanthropic and a douche?
These are the philosophical questions I ponder when alone...
I would amend this to say Micah Kiser. He was a good player and dude. He pulled Brown off the field by his ear last year after he was thrown out for bumping a ref.
Agree about Kiser.
I said I might have forgotten some one ... Kiser was a really good player. Chris Long's giving and Perkins will to come back from a broken neck standout. I would have taken smoke in a heart beat, though we would have misused him as much as UVA did.
Am at my folks with the family for Thanksgiving and my Mom said she felt bad for him... I guess I understand but I also reminded her that she was the one who taught me if you make bad life choices you get bad life results.... choosing to play football at LOLUVA is a bad life choice, he should expect bad results.
That's got to be a gut-wrenching way to lose...especially since the second you stepped foot on UVa's campus, you worked your ass off to put yourself in that moment.
At this point I think we have such a huge mental edge over them we are really going to have to give one away for them to win. It's almost like they just mentally knew deep down the loss was going to happen, and they played just bad enough at critical times to make that possible.
But seriously, if they couldn't beat us THIS year?
I think they psyched themselves out.
Yup, and this game will only exponentially worsen the issue.
They literally spend all year hyping this game. They break every huddle with Beat Tech. They start camp breaking a concrete slab with our logo on it. This is the one game they want. We were an atrocious hot mess, and they were a good team.
And they still lost by screwing up at the worst moments.
That kind of thing will wreck a program mentally.
I mean... They dropped passes while wide open and fumbled an exchange. That's pretty bad as well. The only reason they didn't look worse is they were playing against a defense full of underclassman.
Sure, you could point to their record. However, I'm certain if you swap two of their 5 cupcakes with Notre Dame and BC, they enter this game 5-6. Would they be considered "good" then? Probably not.
Shhhh!! Them being "good" makes this win even better. Don't spoil it with logical arguments.
Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. On the season they looked good and we looked like a mess. But this game comes and we're so deep into their psyche that they couldn't get out of their own way and it cost them their best chance to win in 15 years.
I hate the saying of living rent free in ones mind, but I think it applies here. They know we are going to beat them in every game. We know they know we are going to beat them in every game. And the worst part is they know we know thay they know we are going to beat them. It's the mindset that will turn victory into defeat every time, and losses like this will only make it worse.
Am I doing it right?
I heard they had a media blackout this past week for their players so they wouldn't talk about the streak.
To me, not talking about it only makes it worse. But what do I know.
Shower thought but 3 more years of superiority and their freshman won't have been alive the last time they won.
Definitely have a lot of respect for him. He kept his cool and played his heart out despite not being 100%.
As much as I loved that it happened I do feel terrible for the guy. They had an amazing second half and he played his ass off the whole game. Really talented dude and one to worry about next season. I really feel like without that fumble tonight would have had a very different outcome. We just couldn't stop them.
I don't feel bad for Perkins. It's sports, stuff happens. That was anybody's game, and I do think VT wanted it more.
But I do respect his game play. The guy is a baller.
I agree, let's give him a pat on the back:

The defense finally did something we needed and hadn't gotten in awhile. Welcome to life playing VT, Mr. Perkins. Hats off on a good game, but I'll take the win!
It's much the same as Ryan Williams after the fumble vs UNC in 2013(?). He's young and it matters a whole hell of a lot. I feel for him but it's the highs and the lows which makes sports great. If there weren't down moments, all of the euphoria would be lost.
He's a junior, so I'm not sure what you mean by "young".
It was a close game, and it was going to be a close one no matter who won, or how.
We'll see him again next year. I'm just hoping our team is more cohesive and dominant by then.
I mean that I'm 34 and he's 19-21.
So, you're all young?
Youts these days!
2009. If we had Ryan Williams in 2013 that would have been really mf nice though.
That long ago? Fuuuuuu...
Sir, I've got Bama on line 2 for you.
They lose best defender, Thornhill and best WR and best RB. They will be a worse team next year with a harder schedule. Also just saw a mock draft with Bryce Hall going early into the draft. If he and Thornhill both leave LOLUVA can kiss their secondary goodbye.
The schedule can be any easier than this year, the coastal is pretty bad.
They play ND and FSU Next year.
FSU isnt very good. And with a lethally simple offense it's not like there is a lot of room to improve scheme wise.
Tech honestly isn't that good neither is GT but they managed to lose to both of them this year. Perkins loses his two best offensive weapons and the defense loses their leader.
I fully admit the entire coastal including VT isnt good. But FSU and Louisville are worse. It's going to be a tough year for UVA next year with their personal losses. Look at what a defense full of freshman gets you, even with tons of talented recruits. Unfortunately #11 is only a sophomore.
I'll give you one of the two being a tough opponent
*can't
Their defense is loaded with good young players. Hall will be a senior and he's almost as good as Thornhill now. Snowden looks like a future first round pick. Young DLine getting a lot of time, lots of good young LBs.
The division will be down again next year with GT and Pitt reloading. UVA/Miami could be for the division.
Bryce Perkins anagrams to Pesky Brie NCR
There's cheese-eating involved.
Checks out.
I respect him, but I will downvote him for going to LOLUVA
I respected him until I saw him give the dagger to his neck as he looked at some of the VT players after they went up 21-17.
