Sam Rogers And the Fourth Quarter

For those not at the game Sam Rogers was the guest "Let's go" chant leader. I was ready to run through a wall after his build up to saying Let's Go. I sure hope someone got it on video!

I'm not going to bag on fans that left after the uva interception on the 11 yard line or whatever it was, but to the 40k or so that stuck it out...thank you!! The east/west spontaneous Let's Go chant was a moment to remember and while it was difficult to stomach the uva fans cheering, it was beautiful watching them stream out! I know there are quite a few that will be eating crow.

By the way, I think their fans called up every person they could to come to the game. I saw Gonzaga hats, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame stocking caps, and a few others I can't recall.

15 in a row sure is sweet!

Sam Rogers looked and sounded pissed. I was scared for a bit, then I got angry, then I wanted to put on shoulder pads and hit someone. I love Sam Rogers.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

I seem to remember him pretty much beating them single-handedly two-years ago.

Everyone else just played hard to rub it in.

Didn't think anyone would top Daryl Tapp's performance in the Let's Go Hokies cheer last week but I believe Sam Rogers did!

From the 2018 VT-uva game-"This is when LEGENDS are made!"

I thought Darryl Tapp was going to be hard to follow. Boy was I wrong.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Anyone got a video of this and tapps?

Man I would do anything to have his leadership back on this team.

Using /s is for cowards.

What's his availability to coach?

I think I'm starting to see Dax grow into that role

Man I was thinking the exact same thing. That kids plays with probably as much emotion as anybody in the program since Sam.

Using /s is for cowards.

I was telling my parents this at halftime. That guy just has a great attitude no matter what the scoreboard shows. He's great at hyping up the defense and the crowd. Really excited to see him grow with this program.

I love Sam Rogers.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

The first tries of this (was it last year?) were clunky and pretty rough. Seems like it worked pretty well last night...one single "let's go" and let the crowd do the rest.

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

That's the power of Sam Rogers.

He didn't even do a full let's go. He just fully dipped the crowd in his dork magic and walked off.

Very good incorporation of dork magic. Well done Hokie!

I didn't get to see that, thanks for posting Guitarman.
Makes me want to tackle something right now!

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

am i the only one not getting sound?

fixed it

That was so well done! Really enjoyed how emotional he was!

He should come back to tech and coach something.

The title of this thread sounds like the world's best children's book

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

I will write it.

Story summary: Sam is a walk on with incredible heart. He works his butt off and becomes a leader that everyone loves. His never give up attitude teaches us the importance of hard work, perseverance, and character. Will Sam be able to lead his team to VicTory in the fourth quarter?

There is no suspense in Sam Rogers world!

True, but you know that the summary online and on the back cover would have the question at the end to make the reader think....

I try to explain. To my girls that reading is the gateway to legendary adventure, space man, pirate, princess, detective. You can be it by reading the correct book.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Can we just rotate Daryl Tapp, Sam, and Dax for this every week? That would be electric

And Corey Moore.

Can we get Cornell Brown to do it this week? He'll already be in town...

And this is why you should never choose family over Hokie football...because when you choose family you miss Sam Rogers doing the 4th quarter chant.

I'm pretty sure every Hokie everywhere stood up when he said to do so!! lol

You're not going to bag on the fans that left? You should. Leaving didn't even enter my mind.

I never considered it either but to each their own.

Sam Rogers and Nigel Williams helped coach Benedictine's middle school team this year and then Williams helped coach varsity in the playoffs.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

After the 4th qtr Sam Rogers chant lead, the refs had to talk the 4th qtr back into showing up.

Leonard. Duh.

Sat to the left of him at the Duke game.

And lived?

Impressive.

Probably looks like Harvey Dent now.

Rogers and Tapp have had the most emotional chant leads this season. This "new tradition" has failed to impress me up until these two took the mic. And you're right about the spontaneous chant we had later in the game. I'm still wondering how that started. Kept looking around to see if the cheerleaders were doing something and was amazed when I realized the fans got it started on their own. It was beautiful.

This is why I'm not complaining about people leaving early. Obviously the ones that mattered stuck around for the whole thing. The people who left are more than likely not contributors to the vocal support on a regular basis.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

About half way through the fourth their fans got a really loud uva chant going and I said, we need to shut that noise down!

I too wondered if it was started by the cheer leaders. All I know is, it was great to let our players, their players, and their fans know that we still controlled Lane!!!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

Does anybody have a clip of the fan led chant?
And how many uva fans do you think were there?

There is a clip a few comments above in this thread.

As for loluva fans at the game, I'd guess in the hundreds maybe. It was the most opposing fans I've seen at Lane, which is expected for a rivalry game, especially since they thought they would win.

What was hilarious to me, was the number of non-Hokie or loluva fans. I'm assuming they came with the loluva fans, who knows?! Like, how often do you see Gonzaga swag at Lane?

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

I saw ODU and LSU sweatshirts (maybe others also). I wondered if they were really some uva fans who wanted some camouflage just in case they did not win.

Ut Prosim Ad Dei Gloriam

I saw Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Texas...and Red Sox.

I'm certain there were over 1000 but my seats are over near section 39/37, so I see more visiting fans than average.

Does anyone have a link to the troll video they played on HokieVision? I looked through the threads and didn't see anything, so sorry if it was posted and I missed it.
