2018 has been a *challenging* year for VT football and basketball. Not that I am superstitious or anything, but I was personally thinking of burning all of my season tickets from the home games we lost. Then I thught maybe this could be bigger. I was thinking perhaps we should sacrifice something or conduct some sort of cleansing ceremony to bring the bad luck to a close at the end of 2018 andd usher in a new era of prosperity in 2019. Any thoughts on what we should do? Anybody volunteer to collect a pile of sacrifices sent in by TKPers burn it in a massive bonfire, and perhaps live stream it so we could all bask in its cleansing flames?

Unless you have a ticket from our away game at PSU, that'd be the only roundball ticket you'd be burning.
Unfortunately, 4 star guard, Anthony Harris, tore his ACL today...
Chris Clarke still hasn't played
Landers Nolley is still being punished for being too smart for the NCAA
Khadim Sy left the team again. Leaving only one true big man.
Khadim Sy left the team, then came back, then left, then came back then left again.
He did all that AGAIN?
Fair enough. I interpreted this as on the field/court. I guess if you include that injury, Nolley's ineligibility, and Clarke getting suspended/dismissed, that's a pretty bad off-court list.
Jesus! just because he got injured doesnt mean we should throw Harris into a bonfire. Let's be civil here.
Damn the tickets! We need to burn some knee and ankle braces and some arrest warrants. And somebody get Jobu the live chicken!!!
I'll sacrifice my donation to the Hokie Club because this year ECU was on the schedule.
But they didn't play!
On the schedule
.
How 'bout we just burn ECU then. Nobody will miss it
As they didn't play, you can re-instate your donation.
Come to think of it, the season may have been your fault...
Eh, you're probably right.
I vote we burn all the vent threads
You mean the clothes we wore when we wrote the posts?
no
Yes. Burn them all.
I vote we burn the Hype Train threads
Just the clothes?
no
Post nekkid.
Waaaaay ahead of you.
With as much hating on that Corny has been receiving on this thread during the season, I am surprised that he has not been suggested as the sacrifice. [NOTE - I am not on the hating Corny bandwagon. I don't know nearly enough to feel like I can justify criticize him. ]
I vote we burn a big ole doobie and all chill the fuck out.
isn't that how we got in this situation in the first place?
Jazz Cabbage!
Do we still have the orange uniforms from the ODU game?
The ECU contract?
I think we should involve Dax in this decision. Remember when he burned the clemson thing in a video on his twitter? He would be the best TKP ambassador for this task.
I got it, let's sacrifice the NCAA
I vote we burn Quincy Patterson's redshirt. No wait, I did that wrong.
Let's burn the Banana Stand!
But, but, there's money in the banana stand!
There's always money in the banana stand!
This is why I love TKP: we're 28 comments in on this thread and NO ONE has even come close to saying "Hey, how about we burn a couch!"
Go to hell West Virginia.
I'll see your WVU and raise you Michigan State.
When we beat OSU in 2014 there were MULTIPLE couch burnings across Blacksburg, but that's what happens when we don't play WVU and a generation of undergrads forgets we're better than the cousins
We burned a couch one night during a party at our farm house in Giles back in '72 when some rugby guys showed up and the party got a little out of hand. My roommate got drunk on ouzo and jumped off the roof onto the burning couch. Of course, the farm wasn't but about 20 miles or so from West Va, but I can't lay this one on them.
1972 + Rugby = my dad could have been one of those people that showed up. Will have to ask him now hahaha
He'll likely remember our friends. Ask him about "Fluff" (Bill C.), he was the main rugger we knew, but I knew several others, also. We lived in Hogge's chapel in an ancient farmhouse that Bill eventually bought and restored and still lives in.
Before he left, Stinespring hid offensive play books all over the athletic complex. Word is, if we can find them all, put them together on the practice field, the skies will open and the football gods themselves will come down from the heavens granting us all a wish....
It's all about finding the treasure. Hokies never say die.
What if it is real?!? What if we find Stiney's rich stuff?!?!
I'm fairly certain Danny Coale Is My Spirit Animal buried the cursed Hokie tracks magnets and then salted the earth prior to the Marshall game. We got them the weekend of the ODU game and on the off chance that they were unlucky, we left them off the car prior to the trip to Blacksburg for the UVA game and I think the results speak for themselves. May they never see the light of day again, amen.
Good plan.
My VTCC gray PT shirt finally fell apart this year. I'll retire it the same way you retire an American flag.
I'll dig out my long retired V pi T shirt and deal with it accordingly. It only predates Beamer (coaching) by almost a decade, but maybe it still retains some of the cache of the Dooley days.
Dooley had winning seasons and gave the program it's first bowl win.
Say what you will, but the winning tradition at VT started with him.
