lol possible return.... at Norfolk state.
Eh, this is his 4th year as a student, there's probably a decent chance he could take a graduate transfer to another FBS school.
Nice little production for someone who isn't a multimedia major and doesn't run some kind of YouTube channel. Is this a new thing where transfer candidates get campaign videos made for themselves?
He sorta has plenty of time on his hands. And probably friends that would do this.
The ending certainly appears to close the door to a return as a Hokie. Drops the Jersey and moves on....I personally wish him well. He didn't always make the best decisions, but he cared about the Team, the University, and Hokie Nation.
There's a lot of VT in that video. I think he's hinting at coming back to VT. Don't think they would let him do all that stuff to make us look bad.
Doubtful. Based only on my own opinion. But I do believe the staff is working with him and his family to get him the help he needs.
On a side note: who's the production team he's working with? Can we get a NLI sig from them?
Definitely a student production. Probably used someone with Innovation Space in Torg.
It clearly was a student production, but it was well thought out I thought. Camera work wasn't the best, coming from one brown brotha to anotha, he's a little on the darker side, so all the night shots weren't the best call. But the overall plan/execution I thought was well done.
I agree. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's not a bad idea for players to try and get some sort of videos made of them as long as it's all within NCAA rules.
so he going to tell his story or we gotta wait for the ESPN 30 for 30? I personally would like to hear it from someone with so many rumors that came out at the time of dismissal.
Impressed they let him use Lane Stadium for that video. At the very end it cuts off but he starts to say something anyone figure out what it is?
I couldn't tell if they were inside the gate or just outside it / Lane stadium is often just open. I used to run stairsthere and I know a guy who may have taken a service elevator up to the top of west to get some sweet pictures and threw a football off the top
He's clearly in the stadium. Standing just below the press box and then sitting in the stands.
Lane stadium is often just left open. I've played ultimate frisbee in the dark on worsham field multiple times
Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
Ultimate frisbee->A Belief Smuttier
I wish
Lol seriously. One time I played a pick up game on a Wednesday night before a Thursday night game with the lights on. I've heard security is tighter these days though.
Yea I don't think he was let in the stadium
Cool story.
I thought dropping the jersey was a metaphor for closing this part of his life (VT). I can't imagine he would come back to VT.
Yeah. "Dismissal" sounds pretty final, and if there were a path back to the team you'd think they'd term it as a "suspension".
In other words, he gone.
Agreed. Chris Clarke got "indefinitely suspended", Hill got "dismissed". BIG difference.
So...taking the extreme optimist view of this, but could the dropping of the jersey be symbolic for Hill coming back with a different Number?
Ala Kobe Bryant---different number, different disposition??
Think its still far more likely that Hill's future in FB does not include VT, but I don't think its clear enough to make a firm conclusion based on this video.
Yeah, but then again don't draw your conclusions based on a video from a dude who was dismissed from the team. I'd draw them from the fact that he was dismissed from the team. He gone.
Dane Brugler at The Athletic had him going in the first round of a mock draft.
Mel Kiper had Logan Thomas as a top-five pick after his sophomore season...so, I'm not going to put a lot of stock into that
"Mel Kiper" is all you needed to say in order not put a lot of stock in anything.
That's fine, I'm simply stating that he might choose to go pro lol.
Yeah, this feels pointed at NFL teams. "The Return" feels like a return to the field, not to Tech.
He's got a Blutarski percentage chance of being a first round pick. He's very good, but not great.
And repeat after me: He. Was. Dismissed. From. His. College. Team. Not a plus for NFL GMs.
I like the video and wish him well though.
My feelings are hurt.
My advice to you is to start drinking drinking heavily
That didn't stop them from drafting Adonis in the supplemental draft. Orrrrrrr (insert player accused of domestic violence) from being signed by (insert NFL team). I won't get into that though lol.
Again, read my reply to SLOP, I'm not saying he's going in the first round. I'm just saying there's a path to the NFL.
Joe Mixon. Cam Newton. Randy Moss. Aaron Hernandez.
GMs care about Ws. If your talent outweighs your risk, they'll overlook anything.
You are absolutely correct. Hill's issue is he doesn't (yet) have the college production of any of those guys to offset the other concerns. Cam won the Heisman, Moss was a Heisman finalist and set almost every I-AA receiving record. Hernandez was a 1st team AA, and Mixon had 1800 yds total offense for one of the best teams in the country. They all had a lot on paper and tape for teams to be a little more willing to overlook other issues.
Just to be clear though, I'm not saying Hill wouldn't get drafted, but all things considered, I believe it would be a significant risk to declare for the draft at this point. He could significantly improve his draft stock by playing another year in college (both by putting up some good numbers over the course of a full season and staying "clean" for a full year coming into the draft).
Got my hopes up
He's a really talented DE, so it really is too bad he couldn't keep his head cool in the locker room. There are certain schools out there who make a living recruiting talented players who have, shall we say, a "personality". I think of Ole Miss immediately, or maybe Maryland?
Hills issues are deeper than losing cool in the locker room
Does anyone know if he graduated? If so, that significantly opens up his options for transferring. If not, could still go FCS and play right away. I know about the mock draft from The Athletic but personally I'm quite skeptical of that and think he'd significantly help his draft stock playing another season, even if it were FCS.
Think transfer, FIU
The Athletic had a mock draft a few weeks back and Hill was listed as a late first round surprise. I don't think that is reality, but I do think if he and Fuente worked out the issue and he is back on the team next year, he has the potential to be a late first rounder.
We all make mistakes - still pulling for the kid.
Judging by the rest of his recent tweets, I'd say he's going into the draft
He gone.
Hill will never play for VT as long as Whit, Fuente, and Bud are here.
or the statue of beamer.
lolol - yep that too.
He only played in three games. So he could still play in the military ball and red shirt. A return to VT would help his draft prospects.
IF Foster decided to give him another chance, i'd trust Foster.
