Thank god (Pardon the Pun). the Tom Brady-like kid that torched VT for 1 million yards is transferring....... drumroll... to a seminary. Easily the most embarrassing loss in VT history.

As for most embarrassing loss I'd say losing to an FCS team is worse.
I'd agree. That 2010 loss to JMU was absolutely worse than this year's loss to ODU.
Or Temple in 98 at Lane on homecoming to a team that was 0-26 in big East road games.

To me, this one might be #3, but it's not worse than ODU or JMU.
For one, it was a conference game. Second, it wasn't to an in-state team. And most importantly, we had a safety playing QB.
But I do remember that loss, and boy did it suck.

^^100%. ODU is an FBS team, albeit a bad one, and this was a year where we were lucky to go .500 after almost a decade of mediocrity. JMU is FCS (and was bad that year even by FCS standards), and beat a team full of VT seniors that had dominated the ACC for years.
I'm sure those of you who live in VA were annoyed at having to deal with obnoxious ODU and UVA alums after the game this year. But in the rest of the country, the ODU loss barely registered. It was quickly forgotten outside of a few ACC fanbases, primarily because this VT team was not good and was completely irrelevant nationally after the ND loss. I can assure you that was not the case after the JMU loss. VT was still considered a power program by casuals in 2010, and since that team kept winning, the JMU loss kept being brought up.
It's not like App st that I believe won the title the year they beat Michigan. We are the o ly reason JMU had a winning record when they best us.
I think we're splitting some hairs here.

I disagree, JMU may be FCS but they're no slouch. They've had a solid football team for awhile now and I think should be in FBS instead of ODU and Liberty.
ODU's program wasn't around the last time we lost to UVA. It's by far the more embarrassing loss.
JMU was 6-5 in '09 and 10 they weren't that great those two years.
Yep. And regardless of what level fans believe those teams "should" be in, JMU is FCS and allowed 63 scholarships while ODU is FBS and allowed 85 scholarships.
Hard disagree. ODU is basically an FCS team, and JMU didn't have 600 total yards against us.
But odu was still at least an fbs game technically. And the jmu game was in Lane

1- FCS is always worse than FBS because there are more scholarships at the FBS level. And that's ignoring the fact that JMU was average for a FCS program that year. And it was in Lane.

where does Teel get "seminary" from? that threw me off and I didn't read it at first. So nevermind I guess. Hopefully he comes around to the catholic faith, ha.
"Seminary" isn't exclusively a catholic word. For example, Emory's Candler School of Theology is one of 13 "seminaries" for the United Methodist Church.
And, closer to home, Duke and Wake operate Methodist and interdenominational divinity schools, respectively.
Lol. I wasn't really trying to get into denominational distinctions. I was really commenting on the use of the word "seminary" to mean a school/program to train clergy of the christian faith (heck, I'm not certain that it's restricted to "christian" per se, but I've only seen it applied to christian programs/schools).

I hope we beat ODU into a pulp next season. Like 2001 Miami vs. Washington-esque. Nothing drives me crazier in sports than how some days a team can do absolutely no wrong through no ability of their own. It seems those games tend to happen against us a lot. Good luck to LaRussa in his next step in life, but I bet he never even dreamt of doing what he did that day.
I almost feel kinda bad for ODU next season in Lane. The Hokies are going to be so pissed and wanting payback, they are going to have so much hate and be so motivated to destroy them.
