Hello TKPers!
With less than a day left before the Military Bowl I was thinking about my wishlist for the game.
Bowl games are a great opportunity to open up the play book and have some fun. Whether protecting a comfortable lead or trying to mount a comeback bowl games offer the opportunity for fireworks!
I'll keep my two lists to three wishes.
For novelties I'd like to see any of the following:
- Dual QB trick play. Take any two QBs (but probably Willis as one) and have some fun!
- Dual QB pick your poison play. Two QBs in the backfield (one to replace a running back).
- Special teams trick play.
For standard fair:
- The RPO.
- QP Bomb. We've heard about the big arm. Let's see it!
- Pick 6!
What is on your wishlist?

1. Hokie victory
2. No one gets hurt, either team.
3. A solid crowd
4. Chance for some of our seniors to try out for NFL (I'm sure thats a short list)
I'm fine with any Cinncinati playing pulling something and being alright in a week but would knock them out of the game.
Nah. Beat them at their healthiest.
1-0
just a W baby! don't care how pretty or how ugly!
Hoping this dude's prediction is way off
I hear his mom swims out to meet troop ships.
He's not been too good on College Game Day.
It's kind of amazing how what appeared to be an impromptu question from Herbie, blossomed into people thinking that he had real insight into who would win games.
He's not good...at all. I cringe at 90% of his picks.
Negative. They may win but this won't be a blow out.
Everyone underestimates how tough BC and Pitt really were.
CIncy lost to Temple that just got crushed by Duke. Yes. That Duke. DUKE!
I have ZERO doubt BC was going to run all over Boise St.
It's also easy to forget how good AJ Dillion was and that Pitt had a two headed monster at RB.
Homeboy needs to get those coke bottles checked and understand UCF is going to get destroyed by LSU (see ND vs Clemson) so they are NOT the standard by which greatness is judged.
I'm going for a VT win but if it's not a VT win it's a close game.
How do our S&P+ numbers compare (yeah yeah yeah, I know, numbers don't matter)
How does Cincinnati perform vs their opponents' S&P+
Now, I don't know about you, but I seriously doubt Ohio university was legitimately the #9 offense in the country.
By rank VT will be the third best Offense they face this year.
By comparison only Duke (#76), ODU (#83) and FSU (#108) were worse than Cinci's (#74) offense. Basically Cinci is about as good as Duke numerically. The same Duke that destroyed Temple who beat Cinci.
Cinci's defense is ranked #19 but consider the competition. This is like Marshall's defense being ranked #13. When the offenses you play stink on ice it's easy for your defense to be ranked high.
Bottom line. This could end up looking a bit like the UVA game. But it's not going to look like the Pitt game.
Go Hokies!
While I know that they try to account for competition, S&P+ doesn't seem to adequately do so. There's not sufficient interplay between conferences for stats like S&P+ to be as accurate as people suggest.
Not only is Ohio not #9, I don't think they are top 20. UGA, Bama, Clemson, BC, OSU, anOSU, OU, Oregon, BSU, MSU, ND, aTm, UCF, Memphis and many more are all better. Note that most of the teams in my list play vastly superior D's, so their raw stats won't be as good.
This guy...he always has a losing record with his picks on Gameday. If he made REAL picks, someone would have busted his knee caps by now. /s
I don't know. This guy doesn't miss. We were his lock of the day to beat Boston College.
A win.
Quick, someone scan the official roster for any surprise number changes a la Chase Mummau!
1. Tackle like a P5 team for the first time all year. 2. Hold Cincy to less than 6 YPC. 3. Score 35 points on offense.
Number 1 is a big ask, but it is absolutely what I'd like, too.
and 14 points by our Defense! Go HOKIES!
Quincy 7 touchdowns
QP shows a flash of being the QB of the future. Just one pass that gets me way to hyped for next year.
And a Coleman Fox TD wearing the 25.
Punt Return TD?
Blocked punt, scoop and score.
Slow day of work so I can watch the game.
We will wave to you.
1. Win
2. Better read option play-making from Willis
3. 1-2 full series with QP with a mixture of runs and throws and effective so we have a full-on QB controversy
4. Defense has young players growing up in front of us and not looking "young" any longer - I.e DE and DB
5. Big special teams play or 2
6. HIGH energy
Yes I have a lengthy list
Bryan Stinespring, is that you?
I wanna see QP come in the second half and pull a Tua leading us to a surprise win.
and cement our win. FTFY
1. WIN (without injuries). It's been said, but it's gotta be at the top of the list.
2. I'd actually love to see HH get some meaningful playing time. I imagine we'll see QP, but I'd like to see HH first.
3. Defense show continued improvement.
4. Terius Wheatley. He looked smooth running the ball earlier in the year. Where did he go?
GO HOKIES!!
Just WIN the damn game & get outta there. Don't care how.
Winning is good. Let's start there.
I want to see a 100 yd rushing game from the Peoples Champ. He's earned it. Go get it.
Win and no in juries for us.
I just want QP to get significant playing time with the full offense. Not saying he needs to start but he should be given a couple drives all to himself instead of just 2 plays here and there. Neither JJ or Willis are going to take this team where it needs to go and we need to figure out if QP can do that sooner than the middle of the season next year when one of the other two screws up too much or gets injured.
Probably won't happen though.
D:
Garbutt, Hewitt, Porcher, and Proctor show playmaking flashes and actually register some sacks and/or TFL
Farley puts two good halves together for the first time since FSU, Watts draws zero PI's
Chatman get some burn at CB
Reggie fill gaps like he did in 2017
Dax and Ashby play like they have been down the stretch
O:
Willis continue to show better understanding of offense pre and post snap
Lecitus and Silas finally live up to the hype for once
James Mitchell catches a pass
Wheatley get more carries out of the backfield and show minimal signs of his shoulder injury
Ellis get a couple snaps in the slot; Grimz and Hazelton combine for 0 drops
ST:
BJ hit everything from 40 and in
Grimz or Ellis on PR
Wheatley and someone other than Peoples in on KR
Is that too much to ask?
I feel like yes, but if you dont ask you wont know how much was right.
My wishlist starts with enough people being out of the office that I can get away with watching the game at my desk. It looks promising so far.
After that and this season, just a Hokie W and everyone healthy win the clock hits 00:00 in the 4th.
*And I noticed the win instead of when typo before I hit post, but I'm leaving that shit. GO HOKIES!!!
Considering we only have Willis and QP able to play today, it would probably be a bad idea for both of them to be on the field at the same time. Kinda like how the VP and President shouldn't be in the same place in emergencies. Need to preserve our continuity of government/quarterbacks
