Yawn. Wont be watching out of principle but hope they change the rules so guys like Trevor Lawerence are eligible for the NFL after one year (for our sake).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The NFL is the one that has to change the rule, just like the NBA is the one who has to change the "one and done" rule in any direction. The NCAA has no rules on how long a player needs to stay in school to be draft eligible by any of the major sports; it's the sports themselves that have set the limit.
The NFL is the one that's decided on three-years removed from high school and was even legally challenged in 2004 by Maurice Clarett only to have a ruling in his favor overturned by the U.S. Second Court of Appeals (by now Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor) and his petition to have that ruling reviewed by the Supreme Court refused.
Similarly, the NBA set the one-and-done rule after drafting so many players directly out of high school only for them to flop. MLB's rule is you're eligible straight out of high school, but if you decide to play college baseball you must wait three years before entering the draft.

Pick sixes are fun to watch when they don't happen to us. Not gonna lie, I prefer Clemson to win over Bama, but I don't feel strongly about Clemson beating Bama as I did a few years ago.

I think Bama wins this one pretty easily. Save that early mistake I think Bama goes up and tigers out a score or two late to make it look closer but I don't think Bama ever loses control of this one.

I was just have trouble keeping up with reasons we should have no expectations for VT football. Was it inexperience, money, our fans live too far away, or that Blacksburg is apparently the toughest town in the country to recruit to? I'm just trying to keep it straight.

See, I watch football because it makes me happy. I'm not "part of the problem", I just know that there are many more important things than football, and if I am gonna stress or worry, it will be about those. Football is a diversion. Entertainment. Silliness. Meaningless fun. So no, I'm not gonna be mad because a sour internet man demands it. I will continue to enjoy Hokie football, regardless of its state or direction.

So you admittedly don't care too much about the product. That's fine. But I'm not sure you can act holier than thou to those who are more invested, though. It really shouldn't come as a shock there are fans who aren't as accepting of sub .500 seasons on a fan site.

Honestly? The team can lose every game every season for the rest of eternity if it means "doing it the right way" on and off the field. I would rather have a team that has integrity and players we can be proud of for keeping their noses clean and being paragons within their communities than I would suffer from even one more minute of another Marcus Vick.
So in that respect, yes, I am part of the problem.
And before anyone starts assuming anything, no, I'm not calling anyone on this current team Marcus Vick; I'm just making a blanket statement that I'll go to my grave standing by.

2-8-1 or 11-1, I'm rooting for my team regardless. Trust me, I didn't even watch any NFL games this year and nothing was as painful as watching the Redskins go from "we're gonna win the division" at 6-3 to losing two quarterbacks and finishing 7-9.

I know I'm probably gonna get a temp ban for this but I don't care because it's time I told people how I really felt.
Why don't you just just go back to 247 or La Sabre and stop trolling here. Most of us are tired of you and if you can't tell the difference between the recruiting, resources and history of Alabama vs Virginia Tech and expect both teams to perform at the same levels then you know nothing about college football.
But to answer your question, it's all of the above. That doesn't mean we don't have expectations but be realistic, FFS.

"So Alabama replaced their top 6 DBs and their defensive coordinator last year?
I was told it was experience that matters most tho.."
Everything is in context and you've done a wonderful job taking everything out of context to spin it. How many of those DBs did 'Bama replace with true freshmen? How many of them had to be replaced just before training camp started? When did they replace their coach?
Losing to Pitt and GT when we have 2 returning starters on defense, one of which is injured, and most of the starters are true or redshirt freshman is fairly realistic, actually. We just all got our hopes up after we beat a (worse than us) FSU team then crushed William & Mary. Before the season, before the unexpected attrition and the injuries, we were expected to be an 8-win team AT BEST with losses to FSU, Miami, Pitt and Notre Dame. Add in losing Webb, Alexander, Hill, Mook and J.J. before the season was even 1/3 done? Yeah, could account for another 1-2 losses easily. And then how many other injuries on defense did the team incur throughout the season and how many of those were lost for the season, causing shuffling around? How about C.J. Carrol never fully recovering from an injury two years ago and Mihota playing the entire season effectively on one leg?
If you didn't see the freight train coming with all of that going down...

All the coaches are showing up on the sideline coverage on ESPN2. The 3 minutes of the film room that I saw was awful. They easily could have put those coaches in the same room. I've seen Chizik, Chip Kelly, and now Jim Mora here on the sidelines.

I've never understood trying to run on a fake FG attempt... on a punt it makes more sense because a good portion of the defense is retreating but on a FG all eyes are on the kicker/holder the whole time. A fake FG attempt with more than 5 yards to go and slow developing to use the kicker as a lead blocker??? Bama probably needs better support staff.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Bama is playing desperate right now. Their kicker sucks, but that was a really dumb decision with Clemson already playing for the fake. You would have been better off with your offense on the field.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I blame execution for that fake field goal not working. If everyone blocks, that fake works. It doesn't matter that literally everyone on the planet knew they weren't kicking that field goal and Clemson came out in a base defense. A fake field goal should work on every down with proper execution.

That still is the most impressive performance of the Fuente era by far, IMO. We really need to get this thing turned around and seize control of the Coastal next year. We can't just let Clemson run roughshod all over the ACC.

Duke in Atlanta. We know this because the SEC has real leadership who gets their schedule out before the end of the season not late January early February like Swofford and the ACC.

Tech will be playing at BC for their first game. Yes we know the home opened but that's because Whit scheduled it. The ACC Tobacco Road mafia as usually leaves football as second place.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Well, that game being the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff, the contracts were signed and the date set years ago. It's got nothing to do with John Swofford or *googling* Greg Sankey.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Because Clemson winning 2 years ago has done so much for the ACC as a whole..........
I mean swofford gets a nice bonus and we get a slightly larger check from the bowl shares... But Clemson is only going to get that much stronger in a conference with no real challengers. This is the early 2000s Pac 10/ 90s ACC all over again. Giant fish in a tiny pond

I'm just kinda bummed with the realization we have no real shot at national contention anytime in probably the next decade, if not more. Our legitimate ceiling is a divisional title and that's it. Football passed us by.

When's the last time a Nick Saban team got demolished? This is shaping up to get even uglier because Bama is going to have to start airing everything out.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Any Saban team? Or Bama? Because if Bama NEVER. worst losses were by 14 to Utah and Oklahoma in past. Any team at college level October 2 2004 LSU lost to UGA 16-45.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Under Saban 'Bama has never lost by more than 14 but has done it several times - the 2014 Sugar Bowl, 2009 Sugar Bowl and 2010 vs South Carolina.
Pre-Saban, the last time 'Bama lost by 15 or more was 2006 vs Florida
The last time 'Bama lost by 17 or more was 2004, twice
The last time 'Bama lost by 24 or more was 2003, to a Saban-led LSU
The last time 'Bama lost by 31+ was the 1998 Music City Bowl against us

It's ugly to wish your team was as good as a national championship team? They have an awesome coach, awesome alumni, awesome recruiting, great messaging, and amazing players. Every hokie fan wishes they were vt.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I meant boosters, but I find it hard to believe a team as good as Clemson doesn't deserve to have insufferable fans. We are way worse and have some of the same types of fans.
Good on um

Agreed. From a purely coaching perspective, I would say Bud was likely just as good if not better in his heyday. But Foster is way too boom or bust lately, every play is either blown up for a loss or the D is gashed for a huge gain. And as you said, recruiting is part of the job, and you see what it can do for Venables to have that much stacked talent. Love Bud but he's never been too keen on recruiting at a high level, and that has definitely contributed to the massive holes we have on our roster now.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Go back and look at Venables defenses at Oklahoma. I take Foster on equal terms every time. It's not the hardest job to coordinate a defense with the best players.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Same players and I'll take Bud all day every day if it was just about putting together a game plan and coaching. Venables knows how to recruit though so I would give him the edge as far as best DC.

Not going to claim I was paying attention to recruiting when Ferrell chose Clemson, but god does that hurt me a bit with him just taking down Tua on 4th and goal
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sounds like a lot of it is he doesn't want a HC gig right now. I think his kids are now at Clemson. Guessing from all I've read if he wanted to be a head coach, he'd be in Manhattan, Kansas right now replacing Snyder at K State. Dude might just be happy with where he is and what he's doing.

And now I go on Twitter seeing Brendan Hill throwing a little shade on Fuente and how the culture here isn't healthy and how it's night and day different from Clemson...
Fun

You mean the same guy saying Clemson was going to be runner up minutes before the game?
I don't want to hate on a player whom gave more to the program than I ever will, but I wouldn't take his tweets as gospel either. Lots of subjective stream of consciousness style tweets on his feed, which is fine as long as it's properly recognized for what it is.

For me it was the change in Tua's demeanor after the second pick.
After the pick six he was still all smiles, it's all good, I got this. And actually looked like it was justified with that next TD pass.
After that second pick, though, you just watched the fire go out of his eyes. That was the look of a young man who just realized he was in for a very long night.

While that may be true no one who knows a lick about football thought this game was some unbelievable underdog story, especially since he's done it already. A great team beat another great team.

i just find it funny he said that when they've won 4 straight conference titles, been to the playoffs 4 straight years, recruited at elite levels, sent tons of players to the NFL, and just won their 2nd title under Dabo. it's not like this is their coming out party and tonight totally shifted anyone's perception of them.

Pretty sure it had something to do with him needing a math class and VT admissions /athletics saying "finish your Associates Degree (the one you are 1 semester from achieving) and you're in" meanwhile Clemson's admissions dept was saying "math?, we don't care about math, just great PR stories! you can enroll today!"

Watching Georgia and Alabama get their asses handed to them on the big stage.... Maybe the SEC might have been a little over hyped this year. Maybe it would have been wise to have more teams in this playoff. All the playoff games were snoozers. All of them.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think the verdict is in on the SEC, and nobody outside of Finebaum's listeners and the CBS announcing crew really buys into inherent SEC superiority anymore. There's Alabama, then there's Georgia trying to close the gap, and then there's everyone else, with LSU probably at the front of that pack. But the middle of the SEC isn't a lot better than the middle of the other four P5 conferences.

Fun fact, hopefully it hasn't been mentioned above. This was Alabamas largest margin of defeat since losing to Virginia Tech in the 1998 Music City Bowl.

Never thought I would see Nick Saban panicking and chasing points in a Natty game, but that's exactly what he did. He was out-coached, no other way to put it. Clemson's OC found some holes in the Bama secondary and Locksley foolishly abandoned the running game down by 5 points. Bama could have rushed for 400 yards and slowed the game down, but they chased points, got blown up on 4th downs because they have a weak kicker. Out-coached. Hard to believe.

Had no interest in watching the same two teams in the National Championship, but I was delighted to wake up and see that Bama was curbstomped. Schadenfreude is all I had left, and schadenfreude is what I got! Bwahahaha.

I hate the $EC, but I'm sick of Clemson killing us in recruiting. I hope Bama wins, Saban retires and Dabo takes over for him.

One of the saddest nights of the year; the end of another College Football Season.

Pick sixes are fun to watch when they don't happen to us. Not gonna lie, I prefer Clemson to win over Bama, but I don't feel strongly about Clemson beating Bama as I did a few years ago.
Question. Is it a requirement to wear a black and white checkered fedora to be a bama fan?
The word you're looking for is "houndstooth."

Wow. That was a beautiful route.
I think Bama wins this one pretty easily. Save that early mistake I think Bama goes up and tigers out a score or two late to make it look closer but I don't think Bama ever loses control of this one.
This didn't age well
No. No it didn't. Glad I didn't put money down.
This is fun
So this is what it looks like to have 2 potential 1st round QBs and 4 potential 1st round WRs in one game...
This game is going to be ludicrous
Let me just say that watching these offenses makes me very sad about our offense.
I'd say you and the rest of college football 😅
So did Alabama pull a Cody Parkey or did Cody Parkey pull an Alabama?
Watching this game makes it harder to believe we ever actually got to a championship game
Is there any reason I should be rooting for Clemson other than because I hate Alabama more? Does VT see any money via ACC if Clemson wins?
Alabama has missed more XPs than everyone else b/c they have attempted 100x more XPs than everyone else. Duh . . .
I was sure this was gonna be...bama's missed more extra points than fans at the loluva spring festivus!
If Bama would put a little more effort into recruiting they would have a good kicker
So Alabama replaced their top 6 DBs and their defensive coordinator last year?

Brent Venables
andaka SkeletorLooks like we are headed for a 4+ hour, 140+ point game. Go offense!
How many games against P5 opponents does it take us to score 70 points?
Saw Butch Jones on the sideline behind Saban. I thought analysts aren't allowed on the sidelines but I could be wrong.
Bama has more analysts than fans at the UVa spring game
Man I guess we should start questioning the Bama special teams coaching and recruiting since they lead the nation in missed PAT's.
Bad fake fg, historically iffy kicking game. I don't think it's out of line to question it
I imagine saban makes a change.
Probably hire a new OC and 13 new "analysts"
Is it me or is Hunter Renfrow in his 10th year of eligibility? Pretty sure he holds the record for most catches in the playoff history and games played for Clemson
Clemson is looking great, but their defense could get worn out with Bama having the TOP advantage.

This is a great fucking game. I'm loving every second of it. Vanebels is calling a sick game defensively.
Is it just that good of offensive weapons or that bad defending?
Pretty sure Tua just died
BUH GOD AS MY WITNESS THEY JUST BROKE HIM IN HALF.
Bama ain't played nobody, Pawwwwl!
Trevor Lawerence's arm is insane.
Trevor Lawerence is good at football.
Hmm...top GA quarterbacks going out of state...
Like 1 hr down the road.
And the top Alabama WR.
It must be nice to have a football program like these two schools.
Edit: I'm a dumbass.
Also, when we play Clemson in the ACCCG next year we should make sure he only throws to the flats, for some reason he can't seem to figure that out.
You have triplets after the Bama Georgia game last year?
Edited... and leg for you.
Bama is shook right now on defense. They don't look very interested in playing.
does clemson lose anyone meaningful on offense next year? maybe some OL, or feaster (and he's not even a big contributor)? do they have even have anyone on offense that is eligible to leave early? they are going to have an historically great offense next year. also, trevor lawrence could easily win the next two heismans.
Remember when we went punch for punch with them 2 years ago? Take me back to that time.
They lose their best OL Mitch Hyatt and their center. They might lose most of the defense.
I think they signed the top 2 DE's in the country last year...KJ Henry and ... some other guy, who was #1. Plus, in ACC play, that essentially gives them plenty of practice time to prepare for the playoff. God it kills me to say that...but it's true.
I thought the singer for Imagine Dragons looked goofy with those pants, and then Lil Wayne came on the stage...

Venables is livin in Tua's head rent free. Let's see if he squats on or gets evicted.
I'm loving it.
Was that a commercial for a Vick 30 for 30??
Man 31-16 looks so much worse than 15-0
So two questions:
1. Does Dax regret picking VT over Clemson
2. Is Clemson the only team keeping the ACC relevant?
1. Probably not, he wanted to play for Foster
2. Pretty much
1. Doubtful, he got a decent amount of playing time this year and secured a spot for the future to showcase his talents
2. Yes, next
Agree, he went with Foster, but an 18 year old kid has to be watching this defense flying all over the field and saying to himself "I could be apart of that" "I could be apart of a National Championship run year in year out"
Syracuse repped the ACC quite well this year.
Bama is going to have a big play on 3rd and short with some kind of jump pass out of that wildcat.
All the coaches are showing up on the sideline coverage on ESPN2. The 3 minutes of the film room that I saw was awful. They easily could have put those coaches in the same room. I've seen Chizik, Chip Kelly, and now Jim Mora here on the sidelines.
I'm not jealous of the scheme. I'm not jealous of the talent.
I'm jealous of the tackling.
Worst....fake field goal...EVER!
Bama probably needs better support staff.
lol@ that special teams coach begging for his life to Saban after that garbage fake.
Alabama just looks completely out of sorts. It's kind of scary how good Clemson looks right now. They are out Bama-ing Bama.
That was so clearly PI lol Herbstreit tried to downplay it
He was looking at the ball, playing the ball, did not grab the WR and got a hand on the ball.
All the difference.
Bama is playing desperate right now. Their kicker sucks, but that was a really dumb decision with Clemson already playing for the fake. You would have been better off with your offense on the field.
I blame execution for that fake field goal not working. If everyone blocks, that fake works. It doesn't matter that literally everyone on the planet knew they weren't kicking that field goal and Clemson came out in a base defense. A fake field goal should work on every down with proper execution.
Edit: /s
With the kicker as the lead blocker against the NFL front?
Pass the doobie to me because whatever your smoking is good.
Edited.
Really? With 5+ yards to go a slow developing run play with the kicker as the lead blocker is going to work if well blocked? I'm gonna guess not.
Edited.
Gotcha.... I'm usually a pro at detecting sarcasm but that one got me.
We need a Saban and Staff post
Lawrence to Ross could be an all time connection.
I wonder if that dude just blew out his achilles. Non contact, shuffling, grabbed towards his heel immediately.
That'll be the game folks Clemson looks scary good
well. Georgia and Alabama losing knocks the SEC down a peg or two. I like that. Especially how bad Clemson is whooping Bama right now.
I cant believe we stood toe to toe with Clemson two short years ago.
We had a great QB that could go pound for pound against them.
That still is the most impressive performance of the Fuente era by far, IMO. We really need to get this thing turned around and seize control of the Coastal next year. We can't just let Clemson run roughshod all over the ACC.
So Clemsongot the top state of Alabama recruit last year? Who knew.
Clemson making Bama look like they don't even belong on the field.
Pretty disheartening for the rest of the ACC. Super disheartening for Chris considering how much he loves the SEC
Les Miles' comedy game was strong in that Dr Pepper spot.
That Dr. Pepper commercial was hysterical
The Cody Parkey challenge is getting out of control.
I truly feel bad for Bama's first opponent next year because Saban will go full Super Saiyan on their ass
Duke in Atlanta. We know this because the SEC has real leadership who gets their schedule out before the end of the season not late January early February like Swofford and the ACC.
But we know that the Hokies are playing ODU in their opener 9/7/19.
Tech will be playing at BC for their first game. Yes we know the home opened but that's because Whit scheduled it. The ACC Tobacco Road mafia as usually leaves football as second place.
Well, that game being the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff, the contracts were signed and the date set years ago. It's got nothing to do with John Swofford or *googling* Greg Sankey.
Where's the hold on that play?
Im just looking forward to all the 'this is great for the ACC and VT' takes in the morning
Can't wait to hear those awful takes.
It JuSt MeAnS MoRe /s
Your SEC defenses are usually rooted in fact and that's 2 PI calls missed. But the Tigers returned serve this year
This is going to be great for the ACC.
This is going to be great for the ACC (/s)
If that was sarcasm, mah bad.
I'm just kinda bummed with the realization we have no real shot at national contention anytime in probably the next decade, if not more. Our legitimate ceiling is a divisional title and that's it. Football passed us by.
100% agree sadly, the game has changed. But i'll still root my ass off and hope we own the coastal, no matter how good or bad we actually are
We need QP to get play.
Sig line.
Alabama is going to win. They're crushing Time if Possession! #Science
Yeah, Clemson needs to up their game. Running out of opportunities.
Dude they've not been calling Clemson on any PI and holding. Two drives in a row it's killed a drive.
Clemson got away with murder on that 3rd down.
Surprised Bama not taking the points. I guess their kicker sucks that bad
He is that bad, he ya missed a ton of xp's and field goals.
Clemson is just doing whatever they want right now....any points on this drive and Bama is staring down the barrel of a blow out
What a fucking catch
Ross and Lawrence both freshman. Ballers. I'm sure both will stay all four years because why not.
So that Lawrence/Ross connection is going to make teams die for the next 2 years
Anybody else notice the incredibly well qualified Clemson fan ESPN keeps showing on the free stream (without broadcasters)...
I wanted Bama to win this one but if they aren't I hope Clemson blows them out.
Your wish was granted. Thank your football genie.
I'm not really emotionally involved in this game but I admit I'm enjoying the Bama fans melting down.
Listen to the Paul Finebuam show tomorrow...that should be epic
Wow Ross is a baller
When's the last time a Nick Saban team got demolished? This is shaping up to get even uglier because Bama is going to have to start airing everything out.
Probably that year they got smacked by Oklahoma after missing the NCG.
Any Saban team? Or Bama? Because if Bama NEVER. worst losses were by 14 to Utah and Oklahoma in past. Any team at college level October 2 2004 LSU lost to UGA 16-45.
The last time 'Bama lost by 31+ was the 1998 Music City Bowl against us
An ugly truth: Clemson is everything I wish VT was....
I wish I could watch Bama get their shit rocked, but I'm stuck at work. Oh well. What a game.
Clemson is everything we could have been if we knew how valuable recruiting was in 2000.
It's ugly to wish your team was as good as a national championship team? They have an awesome coach, awesome alumni, awesome recruiting, great messaging, and amazing players. Every hokie fan wishes they were vt.
I see you haven't met a Clemson alum before. How fortunate of you
I meant boosters, but I find it hard to believe a team as good as Clemson doesn't deserve to have insufferable fans. We are way worse and have some of the same types of fans.
Good on um
It's going to be all long time before ANY team in the ACC challenges Clemson. #sadtruth
But I thought Alabama was the best in the land by a country mile
I know a lot of people are ok with Clemson winning, but my god their fans are unbearable.
My wife and I have dropped local friendships with how dickish and in your face their fans are.
I hear ya!
You must not know any Alabama fans.
Oh I know they are bad too!
And you don't know any Clemson fans. I live in upstate SC, this is a fucking nightmare.
My Bama fan friends are great people.
I have family members who are Clemson fans, so you're wrong about that.
Sick small sample size. I have grown up and went to school around thousands of them.
Yeah, and I live in the Florida Panhandle, aka "Lower Alabama". "Roll Tide" is the local greeting.
So get off my lawn.
Let's face it, it's better if Alabama (and the SEC) gets a taste of humility. The world will just spin a little bit better all around.
Nah fuck that, this is the worst sports year of my life between VT, the Vikings, and Clemson winning. This is awful.
OK, hear me out on this.
Did you really want Mike Locksley to get a college football playoff win on his resume before becoming Maryland's head coach?
Or is it better that his stint as Offensive Coordinator at Alabama resulted in a humiliating loss to Clemson?
You may have to look for a silver lining in this.
You almost have to laugh at how far the rest of the ACC is behind Clemson at this point. We are closer to UVA than to Clemson. Yikes.
We were fortunate to beat UVa this year.
We have a LONG way to go.
Is Bud Foster as good as Venables with the same talent?
I don't know, but we have a LONG ways to go before we find out.
Venables is hands down better and there is no shame on admitting it. Recruiting is part of the job, too, and he cleans Bud's clock in that regard
Go back and look at Venables defenses at Oklahoma. I take Foster on equal terms every time. It's not the hardest job to coordinate a defense with the best players.
Or that was his first DC job and he's gotten better with experience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Same players and I'll take Bud all day every day if it was just about putting together a game plan and coaching. Venables knows how to recruit though so I would give him the edge as far as best DC.
The Drake curse will get after ya
This is outstanding, do you see how good this goal line stand will be for the ACC?
Hahaha get 'em Eg
Well, to be fair, it's it's better than Clemson getting blown out.
I'd MUCH rather have a good showing from Clemson than having the ACC shut out of the playoffs. If nothing else, for the money.
If the SEC sends two teams to the final, does THAT help the ACC? Nope.
I'm enjoying seeing Alabama get routed.
Clemson's defense is solid this year.
/understatement
Bama should have run a bootleg :^)
Savage. Execution right?
Clearly, the Offensive Coordinator has to go.
To Maryland.
Not going to claim I was paying attention to recruiting when Ferrell chose Clemson, but god does that hurt me a bit with him just taking down Tua on 4th and goal
Roll Tears
Why is Venables not a head coach somewhere?
$$$
Sounds like a lot of it is he doesn't want a HC gig right now. I think his kids are now at Clemson. Guessing from all I've read if he wanted to be a head coach, he'd be in Manhattan, Kansas right now replacing Snyder at K State. Dude might just be happy with where he is and what he's doing.
If Clemson scores on this drive, Saban will cry, and that will be great for the ACC.
Some of y'all are way too upset for fans of the #9 basketball team in the country.
And that's not good for the ACC.
You sailor you!
It's not fair that Alabama had to play a good team to win the title.
Alabama had three red zone possessions end in turnovers on downs. I've never seen that before.
It just means more.
Nobody has.
Clemson has a "for real" defense.
Clemson has a 5 real defense tbh.
The winner tonight...ESPN...they will work the shit out of this matchup until it runs dry....round 5 anyone, anyone...
This is the national championship game...
... AND WE HAVE GARBAGE TIME
And now I go on Twitter seeing Brendan Hill throwing a little shade on Fuente and how the culture here isn't healthy and how it's night and day different from Clemson...
Fun
Brenden Hill was running buddies with MV5. I'm not here for him calling anyone else's culture "unhealthy."
To his credit, if you know him, like I do, he turned his life around his senior year at Tech.
I can respect that.
just looked at his twitter, holy shit he tweets alot.
Shameful that Bama got in over Georgia smh.
Alabama out here looking like soft shit on a rainy day. (To quote a fellow TKPer)
LIVE LOOK AT TIDE FANS

#bonerachieved
It was the houndstooth fedora with the surrender cobra wasn't it?
Tis a true thing of beauty, my friend.
Tua missing yet another 4th quarter.
It's awesome that Cuse came closer to beating Clemson than Bama did.
Is that Lawrence's sister next to his parents? She's going to be qualified.
Girlfriend
Where' Brent Musberger when you need him?
Yeah man, wtf? "going to be" ....?? wtf
If I'm a Clemson fan I'm pulling my hair out every time they call a QB keeper this quarter.
Amazing to watch Bama just quit. They got their asses kicked and didn't respond well
Clemson is curtain calling their O Line in a national title game!
They haven't had a lot of practice at that.
The team follows the staff. Wildcats, fake field goals challenging receptions. Saban and his staff were lost in the woods and the team followed.
Was glorious.
And to think that Clemson has been ranked behind Bama all year long.
I'm sure Dabo had much rather be the underdog.
#FireSaban search on twitter is dope right now.
#GoACC??
sigh
Dabo can miss me with that "Lil ole Clemson" shit.
It's 100% accurate. We're less than a decade removed from "Clemsoning" being the reigning meme of college football.
While that may be true no one who knows a lick about football thought this game was some unbelievable underdog story, especially since he's done it already. A great team beat another great team.
He wasn't talking about this game. He's taking about where the program is now versus where it was when he took over.
Even though Dabo has won two titles now, I'd bet a Hardee's coupon that he still hears "West Virginia just scored again" in his nightmares.
i just find it funny he said that when they've won 4 straight conference titles, been to the playoffs 4 straight years, recruited at elite levels, sent tons of players to the NFL, and just won their 2nd title under Dabo. it's not like this is their coming out party and tonight totally shifted anyone's perception of them.
They just stomped Bama.
If anyone wasn't a believer before, they are now.
Everyone believed in Clemson before. They're the SEC team playing in the ACC after all.
You certainly can't say they ain't played nobody, Pawwwl.
Of course, a lot of folks who *claim* to know football had been polishing Alabama's CFP trophy since spring practice ended. Everywhere you turned, it was "Alabama... and whoever else it doesn't matter because Alabama."
Dabo praising Alabama.
You know, because he just beat them.
Dabo: "If we can do it, anybody can"
Please let VT prove this to him one day.
Trevor remind me of Sunshine off remember the Titans
The question "who does Trevor Lawrence remind you of?" has only one correct answer:
Dang. I wanna go play for Dabo.
Me too. It's not hard to get caught up in his vision. If I get it over 2 minutes of talk on the TV, how much clearer is it to his players?
Clemson only beat USCe by 21, UVA beat USCe by 28, therefore UVA would beat Clemson by 7.
The karma over the fallout of us passing on war veteran Daniel Rodriguez in 2012 when we were his childhood team and Clemson found a way to get him in just keeps coming.
This. How Beamer didn't get that guy on the team is just beyond me
Pretty sure it had something to do with him needing a math class and VT admissions /athletics saying "finish your Associates Degree (the one you are 1 semester from achieving) and you're in" meanwhile Clemson's admissions dept was saying "math?, we don't care about math, just great PR stories! you can enroll today!"
Me: (turns to my wife) I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to feel what Clemson fans feel tonight [safe to say this season broke me, I'll be back on the train come August]
He did say that if he could do it, anybody can. He was talking to Fuente.
Don't know if this has been said but:
Welcome to the ACC Saban, where real football is played!
Watching Georgia and Alabama get their asses handed to them on the big stage.... Maybe the SEC might have been a little over hyped this year. Maybe it would have been wise to have more teams in this playoff. All the playoff games were snoozers. All of them.
But the middle of the SEC isn't a lot better than the middle of the other four P5 conferences.
paging Chris
They just weren't motivated. Except for the SEC teams that won, those teams played are just better than everyone else.
Fun fact, hopefully it hasn't been mentioned above. This was Alabamas largest margin of defeat since losing to Virginia Tech in the 1998 Music City Bowl.
Now let's figure out how to use this in recruiting!
Hey Kids, did you like the way Clemson dismantled Alabama? Well we did the same thing when you were -4 years old!
And that's great for the ACC and VT.
Saban Lost To UL Monroe
He should've brought in Frank Beamer as a special teams consultant.
I fell asleep before the end, did anyone start chanting ACC ACC ACC?
Dabo and Venables carried Swofford off the field on their shoulders and then he proceeded to crowdsurf for the next 45mins.
Yeah...
I believe it was Egbert.
Bwahahaha.
Oligarchy for CFB? I think that's the right word?
Don't know if this was mentioned before, but the last time that Alabama lost by 28 or more (31) was the 1998 Music City Bowl to Virginia Tech, 7-38.
Nick Saban has never lost by more than 14 while at Alabama.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_Alabama_Crimson_Tide_football_team
Saban has been filthy good at Bama. Really unreal
yes it has
Yeah, I figured. Made a quick scan down the thread, but at 270+ comments in, I was bound to miss a few. Cheers.
Please, good sir, have a drink...
butch jones post game in bamas locker room like....
