Hypothetical Mullings from our '99 - '00 Champ Season

Now that this sub-par (craptacular) season has concluded, I often frequent over to YouTube to reflect on better seasons and times of yore. While I understand this makes some folks feel worse, for others (myself included) tend to feel a twinge better. One of the games I've perused multiple times during Dec & Jan was our magical season of '99 - '00 when Vick led us to our 1st ever National Championship appearance and to the brink of eternal glory. BEHOLD:

I have zero doubts that most of us have mused over what could have been, had there been a few differing circumstances & scenarios. Well, that's what this thread is about. Here are a few "what-if" scenarios. What if:

-Warrick & Janikowski were prohibited from playing in the entire game (2 notes: Coles, Warrick's roommate was already prohibited, & while Anquan Boldin was on the team, he was originally drafted as a QB & switched over to WR. I don't believe he had world-beater skills at that point)?
-Vick scored the games 1st TD instead of that meshuganen fumble?
-Kibble's punt wasn't blocked?
-Stith was only out for 2 qtrs (2nd & 3rd) but came back at 80-85%?
-Graham kicked the FG instead of attempting that ill-advised fake?
-Kibble punted instead of the Sorensen attempted fake?

Would we have won? I'd like to think so. What say you, TKP??

What if Beamer went to UNC?
What if Bud was never brought in as co-DC?
What if Vick went to Syracuse instead?
What if Iverson decided to commit to VT and play football rather than Georgetown to play basketball?
What if the Big East raided the ACC instead of the reverse?
What if Marcus wasn't a colossal shithead?
What if George Lucas never released the prequel trilogy?
What if Janet Jackson never showed her nipple at halftime?
What if Alex Rodriguez signed with the Red Sox and not the Yankees?
What if the Pittsburgh Penguins had moved to Kansas City?
What if we moved forward with the Japan invasion rather than dropping the bombs?

What if the British hadn't blown a 13 colony lead in 1776?

We'd all be playing soccer, rugby and badminton.

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

i wish the Penguins had moved to Kansas City

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

how about instead, we crowdsource a giftory from the 1999 season and enjoy that instead?

What if MacGruber stayed home all day drinking and lamenting about past what-ifs?

It's ok brother, I've been there too. But at some point you have to put the bottle down and keep L-I-V-I-N.

Just remember...

If you play it, they will win.

I'm not lamenting, I'm speculating & wondering. It's still ok to speculate about past games, seasons & alternative results on TKP, isn't it??

What if Bud had run nickel instead of walking out Ben Taylor to cover FSU's slot receivers?

What if Nick Sorensen had been a good safety?

What if Corey Moore, who was having a Thomas Hollywood Henderson kind of week on the microphone, had generated some pass rush against FSU?

What if Stith had returned the next season? What if Michael Vick doesn't have a trick ankle in that Miami game in 2000?

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Awesome and hilarious. The "trick ankle" against Miami the next year was especially disappointing. Would have love to see that game played out with MV

I believe we are referring to it as his "jankle"

What if Michael Vick doesn't have a trick ankle in that Miami game in 2000?

What if when #7 of Miami (Al Blades?) of Miami gloated after tackling a hobbling Vick (like he had accomplished some great feat) that one of the O-Linemen knocked him the f out?

What if VT had used that loss to catapult the program into another level by riding the momentum and generating high revenue / donations and awesome recruiting for the next two decades and get back to the championship game two or three times and win one or more?

This is more of what I was getting at. Perhaps I should've clarified that I'm looking more for (speculative) answers to speculative questions, rather than speculative questions to speculative questions.

To play along with your original intention, I have always thought that if we scored that touchdown on the first drive, that the whole complexion of the game changes. All season long we had been able to punch it in, and even if the ball had been fumbled, it had always bounced our way. Until that play. That had to affect the players confidence. I think that play changed the game as much as, if not more than, any other.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

I turned off the TV at the end of the 3rd quarter. Are you telling me that we didn't win the game?! I am confused.

"Vick, dashing back . . . here he comes again . . . Electrifying . . . and have you ever seen anything like this?"

That would not have been the time to turn off that game
