PS Fuente if you're looking for a PR guy, I got you.
Well, good. We are the unofficial spokespeople of the best officially credentialed online
support groupcommunity of Virginia Tech athletics. What we lack in money to actually make things happen we make up for in outlandish comments that deserve action. I know I try my best.I'd even remove your edit. I know I come here to bring myself off the ledge all the time. As for the outlandish comments, they're downright entertaining sometimes
Does he?
Because it was all panic up in here.
Fuente hanging out with Buzz with the Get Better talk. Hope it works!
Look ridiculously normal.
You mean the sky isn't falling?

That's the first genuine laugh I've had all day. Thank you!
whee
while it maybe smoke up my ass. I appreciate it. the end.
Kinda seems like a lose-lose situation for him. Don't put out the statement and people continue to rag on not engaging the fan base. Try to engage through a press conference/ be more personal and people take that as there being a real fire that needs to be put out. I get why he put the statement out, but I doubt it changes anyone's opinion at this point. It certainly doesn't instill any more confidence in me that things are OK in the program. I hope for everyone's sake he can turn the ship around from the direction it seems to be pointing in at the end of the last season and the last couple of weeks. If this year repeats itself I have a hard time seeing a replacement coming in and fixing it.
This perceived or real dysfunction within the football program is going to be something we're all going to have to live with unfortunately until August 31st. The only real cure for these thing in my totally biased and non objective opinion is winning football games.
I'm just gonna hang back and let it all unfold
So woke up this morning pretty disappointed, read some different point of views from "burn the house down" to HokieFireMan's unwavering support. That a long with a press release has taken me back a notch. I'll put my self in the lets sign croots and win games and we'll see how it goes camp.
He's given himself a vote of confidence
One-on-one meetings with student athletes to ask them how the staff can do better and how the head coach can better serve. That's how it's done. Fuente is head coach for a reason.
Agreed, Bud Foster quite obviously didn't have the experience to be a head coach.
Too soon?
Meh...not too soon. But, every adult on the staff should (and I'm sure does) have the ability to ask questions like "What do you need to succeeed? or How can the coaches better help you improve?" You gotta have feedback from your athletes. And...to get real feedback, you have to first build a relationship of trust.
This sport thing....it's like an opportunity for these kids to learn valuable life lessons. Right? The coaches are part of that process. Great college coaches recognize that the game is an instrument to reach a much greater end.
A lot of these kids are passive aggressive these days....they may not feel comfortable telling the head coach what the issue is, they will just rather avoid confrontation all together...thats been my experience anyway...
I am honestly kind of surprised this isn't normal. I know all professional leagues have their teams go through end of year 1:1 meetings between the coach and players to evaluate the season, and I would have thought it would have been the same in college.
If not, I'm glad Fuente is on board with doing it now
We did this 15 years ago in high school. Seems like a no brainer.
I think the release insinuates it was the normal process.
/s....kind of???
All these transfers are to make room for the 5 star recruiticorns coming in right? The numbers always work out? *sigh*...
Sure. We have some room in the boat now.
need a great many balers for all the leaks...
I may be the get off my lawn guy again, but I would wager that in years past there were quite a few players dropping off the team every year. There were limited transfer possiblities and guys would drop out for a semester or a year and possibly walk on at another school or more likely quit football altogether. Now with the world wide web and footballmatchmakers.com, guys are transferring and the whole world knows it......"I'm opening up my recruiting"....don't you just love that. Russell Wilson going to Wisconsin was the first guy that I remember doing this...now there are 10 guys from every team every year....only slight exaggeration.
Maybe I'm a little surprised by one or two, but with several of these guys facing stiff competition to sniff the field, I'm not surprised in the least.......and I'm the old guy. Do not panic or bad mouth this staff because the times are a changing.
Btw, I blame AAU basketball for everything that's bad in sports.
Yeah, I think this is just the beginning of visible free agency in college football.
Before, we wouldn't hear about it, or we didn't see results immediately.
I'm in the "sky is not falling" camp myself. Not ideal (that would be that each of our 5* starters are replaced by 5* redshirt freshmen after they graduate each year), but I'm really not all that worried.
Best of luck to those that want to transfer, I hope it works out well for them.
I wish Fuente would come forward with the real reason this happened: UVA got ahold of the final Infinity Stone and launched half our roster into the NCAA Transfer Portal. We are in the End Game now.....
Fuente got fully dipped in dork magic boyz
This week has gone so well, I half expected to get an email from the Hokie club today...
Well I mean they did email about ACC Tournament tickets right after the UNC game ended
