I know it's been mentioned in other threads as a possibility, but I think this is the first reputable outlet reporting it. This definitely stings. Can't think of another time a starter has transferred to a team's in-division rival.

I'm impressed on his dedication to being Public Enemy #1 in Blacksburg
So what's the chance between Hill and a guy who was kicked off the team and invited back that the Miami locker room is going to be extremely toxic in short order?
Imagine the fan base when he gets a sack against us
Miami has a fanbase?
You'd be shocked at the fan base U of Miami has. You win 5 National titles and throw in a bottom 5 NFL team over the last 25 years and get a crazy Miami Hurricane fan base. We take a good Hokie crew down from DC to Miami every time VT plays and they sell more tickets than the Dolphins.
The stadium in Miami seems to fill up when Miami is ranked and VT comes to town.
Imagine the fan base when he gets pancaked 69 times
Nice.
Many []__[] will be thrown up and the twitters will be so lit, bro
There's no guarantee he will be on Miami's roster by then
I can already hear the commentators talking about his dismissal and that he's playing for revenge against his old team/coach. Probably have a career game, the way this seems to work against us recently. Unsportsmanlike Conduct fouls O/U vs Miami opening at 7.5.
Still not worth giving the guy any attention.
Agreed. He was civil and talked the talk up until he had a new fan base. I hope he is never injured but gets buried in the depth chart the rest of his career.
Her?
What is she, funny?
He'll fit in perfectly there.
I already hate this man more than MV5
whoa.... whoa.... let's not get crazy here. Trevon is acting like a jaded ex-gf for sure but he's not the waste of life Marcus is. He's just a young guy that feels he got a raw deal and is making poor decisions with his mouth. He is definitely contending to be hated by Hokie fans but is in no way near Marcus Vick level.
Yet
Yall can downvote me if you want but I'm about to speak the damn truth...
Eff him. I have already forgotten this cat and his contributions to this program. For 99.999% of Tech players, once a Hokie always a Hokie. Not this guy.
Good riddance and now that he's found a new home, let's quit mentioning him and making it seem we're the ex who can't let go.
Just my $0.02.
That's gonna be tough for me to be honest
And for what it's worth, he isn't as bad as Marcus yet, at least not in my book. And I don't think he could ever get there.
marcus shamed himself. trevon is shaming VT. I don't care for marcus but what he did was embares VT. not publicly bash it.
Couldn't agree more.
Eh, yeah but I remember as a student at the same time Marcus was here that people were sayin he could have been better than his brother, take us all the way. True or not, I felt the missed opportunity due him being a dumbass hurt more personally than anything this latest moron has to say about Tech. At this point it should be obvious it's just sour grapes with Hill and not a true reflection of what our school and program is all about.
Have a leg, though.
Doesn't he have to sit a year? Or is he graduating from VT in May? If so, a current VT scholarship student trashing us at every chance on Twitter is bullshit.
I agree
100% agree. Low class and proves all his critics right. I hope he brings the same effect down to his future team. It's not the team - it's the individual in this case. That drama will follow
Unless he's graduating, then he has to sit two years due to ACC rules. So, that's the big question then - is he going to be a graduate transfer? Otherwise, Miami has really screwed him.
?? Two years??
Saw an article in Roanoke Times or Richmond Dispatch indicating that he was graduating in May.
Cool. Now we definitely know which Miami defensive end struggles against the run.
SEARING HOT TAKE AND I LOVE IT
If he was as much of a cancer as he sounds in the locker room, I would hope this team would come out inspired to ruin his day when we play him...
Fuente to Diaz: Hill is a real leader, first in last out, never gonna cause a disruption, first rate guy. I really messed up letting him go.
If he fails a class and can't graduate in the spring, that means he can't grad transfer, thus would have to sit out a year! Any of his professors on here?!?!? /s
Come on man
Move on
Let him dig his own grave, no need to dig it for him.
These are kids after all, I wouldnt want him on my team based on his twitter account, but twitter isnt necessarily a great indicator of a persons overall character.
It is what it is, if anything its given me more confidence in Fuente for going about it the way he has. Its up to his teammates or ex-teammates to quiet him now, its not really the fans place. Like I said in the other thread, this kid wont hurt Virginia Tech Football and coach Fuente as much as he thinks he can, theyll move on, hell be forgotten.
Maybe Miami is legit, and best of luck to him, but why has he not just announced it if it were?
Damn, tough crowd. I laughed.
Not cool to joke about honestly. If UNC is any proof, there's actual corruption like this in CFB, I'm sure of it.
He put /s....

There is corruption in literally every power structure that exists in human society. That doesn't mean we can't crack a joke about an asshole who's trying to derail our program.
Could be worse.
Could be woovoo.
or loluva.
actually, loluva is the only one that would be worse, since we won't play woovoo during the rest of his 'career.'
actually UVA would make me chuckle since they couldn't pull any of the "we suck at football because we only allow high character individuals on the grounds" shtick any more
Miami is getting Hokie washouts. Gives new meaning to their moronic turnover chain.
Last Chance (da) U

Edit: my awful paint skills look worse on mobile. Sorry phone users.
More like Sloppy Seconds U

I know many may not agree with this, but I hate Miami more than UVA.
Miami to me is our complete opposite and is the villain to our super hero status. I would hope the players feel similar. They are definitely more of a rival than many other teams out there.
If you are a Hokie, you don't go to Miami. If he goes there then he loses his Hokie card in my eyes.
I totally agree...I would like to propose we stop taking about this kid all together , he is badmouthing my beloved Hokies on social media and I for one am tired of listening to his whining ...good riddance, goodbye, so long, don't let the door hit ya, where the good lord split ya.
I don't care what he has to say anymore.
He's already lost his Hokie card.
Totally agree. While I strive to practice good sportsmanship as an attendee of every one of our home games, I own a "Fuck Miami" shirt.
My *guess* is that you are a young fan if you hate Miami more than UVA.... UVA fans are insufferable enough when they lose 15 straight. Can you imagine how bad they were before the streak? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
depends if 25+ years counts as young.
there is pure hatred for miami. UVA may be a rival and we have a longer history, but Miami is much worse. Festered back in the Big East and followed to the ACC.
To add to it, I don't even think Miami considers us a rival. That's the type of attitude they have.
Sadly, UVa seems to beat Miami more than we do these days.
All we have to do to get Miami back to "rival" status is beat them.
I remember during the UVA #1 Football ranking Miami players begging them to come to the U and play them because they disrespected the #1 ranking. Always been smack talkers.
Miami is our archenemy. LOLUVA is stuck at nemesis status and that won't change unless they break the Streak.
LOLUVA are the little gnats that swarm you on a hot summer's day while drinkin' beers on the golf course....

Leg for Fear and Loathing gif usage!
Damn, those bats!
Their team already has a rep for folding once things start to sour. Add in Hill's antics and famous halftime speeches and I can see the downward spiral for the U.
I was willing to give Hill a little slack due to the lack of details around his situation, but with his recent open subversion of the program, he can go pound sand.
Does anyone know where to find a current list of the cost-of-attendance stipends various schools are paying to student-athletes? Always curious about this and how it might impact the decision of players to transfer. Obviously a lot of factors in how they decide, but this is definitely one of them. Most recent list I could find was from 2015, but I'm assuming the numbers change every year and I'm guessing they've grown year over year as schools finds way to manipulate.
I have seen some stuff but I'm not sure I have see anything from private universities.
Oh hell yeah - he's going to overpursue like a mother trying to make a statement play and we're going to rip off some huge runs on his side.
Guarantee we beat Miami this year if he goes there.
That is best case scenario. Worst case scenario is he gets a sack-fumble and goes nuts on the sidelines wearing the turnover chain and espn eats it up and continues to push the fake news that Miami started the defensive prop trend while ignoring the lunch pail and absolutely drooling over Diaz while trying to force the narrative that Fuente is on the hot seat.
And all you grammar police on a sports forum can get out of here. A run-on sentence was the best way to make my point. My disdain for you is only outmatched by my disdain for LOLUVA and Miami.
I fear you may have awoken the grammar trolls and I would probably get a laugh out of them pestering the grammar on your every post. its like when all your buddies know your pet peeves and will jab at them just to get a rise out of you.
Wait...are you one of the trolls!?
psssh, I am an Engineer, grammar is only a formality, the only part of written language that matters to me is that the information is transferred properly. I do however enjoy a good sh*t-stirring and ball busting. So I will leave it to the folks more able than me.
As someone who works in Technical Documentation, we have words for people like you.
The difference is you'll spell and punctuate them correctly.
I one time had an engineer get visibly angry with me because I told him we translated from engineer into English.
where are you when I need you? lol
Good on him, glad he got another P5 chance. Hopefully he kicks ass for 11 of 12 games next season...
nah
I can't wait until he starts camp as an outsider and goes off on one of trusted alphas on their roster. I predict Hill will be alienated very quickly.
Pre-existing traditional Miami player's attitude coupled with a new-comer Benedict Arnold with same attitude could make for some fun fireworks....
What if he's the ultimate Hokie and he's infiltrating the Miami locker room to blow it up from the inside and ruin it for years to come... /s
Trevon Hill mouthing off to Shaq Quarterman, I'd love to see that one haha. But I bet he will be cool with all the alphas on the roster...
Miami of Ohio, right?
Then he will die on that Hill.
You have got to be kidding me
Some guy that gave up 495 yards of offense to Old Dominion is going to Miami?
They must be really hard up for defensive players down in Coral Gables.
I know you are joking but Hill's effort was one the few positives from that game. His play on the field is very good. We missed his pass rush big time in ACC play. We will definitely not miss his toxic attitude though.
I think they sort of deserve each other.
He's a decent player, but like others have said, I hope he gets humiliated in meetings with VT. He's being driven just a little too hard by spite.
Who?
I already forgot his name.
Everyone is going after Hill pretty hard. No doubt he loved VT and loved Hokie fans. Dude just clearly had major beef with Fuente and some of the coaching staff. Maybe he hasn't handled some of it the right way with his social media posts, and he does seem to be displaying quite a bit of resentment. But I think it is more towards Fuente and staff than VT and Hokie fans. He said in the statement he released that he needs to #getbetter and learn from it all. I for one am hoping that Hill can truly do that and that the Hokie locker room can move on and reestablish the lunch pail mentality.
I read some of his posts, and they didn't seem unreasonable. But the problem with picking sides in a situation like this from the outside is that you're going to make some people happy, and some people unhappy.
Maybe he hasn't handled some of it the right way with his social media posts,
Maybe?
I agree. However he shouldn't expect to seek understanding from fans by speaking his truth while at the same time openly and divisively commenting on the very program those fans love. It's going to, and has, rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and just makes him seem mendacious and insincere.
At this point, though I think he just has severe personal control issues, I am not only glad he is off the team but the more he spouts off the more I believe Fuente and staff do have a grip on things and cleaning house of all the legit bad apples, even though that means losing some others that may not be bad at all.
I wish him well he got a raw deal. Wish he wasn't at Miami though he is a freaking monster. You know he'll be going all out for the VT game
What exactly was raw about it? It seems to me that it was made clear he had had his second chances and was hanging by a thread. At that point, the punishment doesn't have to fit the individual crime.
There was no rawness to the deal. Trust me, Fuente didn't want to kick his best pass rusher off the team. No one wants to stick up for Hill more than me, but I cannot. Fuente has his issues, but iicking Hill off the team was a completely reasonable repsonse.
Please don't down vote people for having different opinions, if someone sticks up for Hill that doesn't mean they should lose legs.
I didn't downvote but stating, "he got a raw deal" as if it's fact without providing any additional explanation could be seen as toeing the line of opinion. Considering Hill seems to be taking pleasure in antagonizing everyone invested in the VT program lately, I think it's reasonable to have a strong reaction to someone defending him without presenting any supporting information.
Lmao not toeing the line of opinion close to anyone else out here who acts like they've been inside the locker room.
We know Hill feels like he got a raw deal he's said so. Also we've known Fuente sometimes jumps the gun on important decisions (see Capehart). It appears that has made some players believe he cares more about his own image than what's best for them. Right or not that's a fair interpretation of his actions
So if you'll notice, you changed your language from "[Hill] got a raw deal" to "Hill feels like he got a raw deal" and then you elaborated on why you think that might be true, which is exactly what I said might have changed how the original post was received. However, you'd have to take it up with someone whom actually downvoted you to know for sure.
Anyway, I completely disagree that these issues are related to Fuente caring about his image. Respect for his authority or even his ego? Sure. But it makes no sense that Fuente would think dismissals and transfers are good for his image.
I didn't down vote you. But let's straighten something out, you are throwing out your opinion on the Hill situation as if you have a clue, then your going to dismiss what other people are saying? I ain't giving up my anonymity but uh, yeah, I do have access to some of the players and some of them do talk to me about what goes on. So I stand behind what I said above. How are you forming your opinion?
I hear 247 may be premature in pegging #94 to the U. At least one other FL school still in the mix. And one of his favorite VT coaches is now at his hometown school- ODU. Now wouldn't that be quite an irony, though not likely.
Raw deal? Yeah you aren't going to find me taking the side of a guy who was kicked out of high school for attacking a special needs kid and then getting kicked off his college team for making comments about another special needs kid. He made and shit in his own bed.
Has anyone with first hand knowledge, that was actually in the locker room, explicitly confirmed that Hill made inappropriate comments about a special needs kid? I've heard references to that repeatedly, but don't think I've ever read anything clearly confirming that it happened. Just curious.
I'm not going to be the moron that spells out what exactly occurred in there but Fuente was 100% correct in his decision. That's all anyone needs to know about it.
My question is not about Fuente's decision My question is whether there has been explicit verification from a first hand source that Hill made inappropriate comments about a special needs child during the ODU game. I continue to see that aspect of "what exactly occurred in there" referenced in posts on TKP., I would really like to understand if that is a known fact.
Short answer: no.
what those who have said they know are saying is that their source has first hand info and so they believe it. However they are not going to be the one to air the dirty laundry.
Coaches and the program will not be able to discuss it so really either another player, not likely, or Hill himself needs to do it. We saw how much he danced around saying what really happened when he spoke his "truth."
So you're just going have to make your own determination like the rest of us.
Yup. Talk to anyone on or around the team and you'll get the same answer. I'm not going to be the one that puts it out there.
I am going to stop commenting on it. The entire thing just makes me furious.
Thanks for the responses on the availability of first hand info on the ODU incident. I am not all close to the football program, and graduated a long long time ago. I've been a diehard fan since before we ever won a bowl game, and back when our offense consisted of three half back dives, an a punt. I trust and believe that CJF made the right decision, that he had to make, and that this was not a raw deal. By all accounts it's clear that Hill has behaved poorly and made an ongoing series of bad to very bad decisions. If what is described is true, it is egregious and indefensible; and yes he is perpetuating this firestorm with his social media commentary.
Having said all of that, I'll be the unpopular odd man out, and say that I will always try to find a reason to root for a troubled 20 year old kid to get things back on the right track. I hope that Trevon can persevere and finish out his college degree, that he will grow up quickly and behave more maturely, and less importantly, I do hope that he can find a place to resurrect his college football career. I hope that he finds that 2nd or 3rd or 4th chance or whatever is at this point, and turns the corner to make things right. I believe that he comes from a very good family, and without condoning any of his actions, I am praying for him and pulling for him. To me, it's a little bit like when VT's #7 was in the penitentiary, and one of the most hated men in America. I was praying for and a rooting for MV7, then, against heavy odds, with the belief that the story is not about what has been done but what the man does next to make the situation right (or not). Amidst this firestorm that Trevon Hill has brought upon himself, I am praying and pulling for him in hopes that he can follow the path of change and redemption that MV7 showed everyone is possible. Come on, Trevon, layoff the Twitter, start making the right choices, and prove us all wrong.
This is actually a really good take, and one which most Hokies should have, at least after the initial burn wears off.
I can get behind that, I don't think anyone wants to see this guy ruin his life or fail.
Adding to what what Fernley said, if what transpired wasn't as big of a deal as Trevon is making it out to be, then Trevon would've come out and already told the world what happened.
We are of the same vintage. 1983 was a good year.
they're made for each other
I saw Trevon Hill on a flight from CLT to ROA this evening. Coming back from Miami, maybe? I noticed that he's still using VT gear. With all the badmouthing he's done on social media, I wish he wasn't still repping Hokie gear. Normally I'm of the mindset, once a Hokie, always a Hokie, but I'm really just over this dude.
He also had a hefty sling on his left arm. I didn't realize he was hurt (I might be forgetting).
he was actually on his way back from mizzou, he had an OV with them last weekend. they are in the mix as well. im not sure if he gave the U a silent and that's why they are reporting hes going to end up there but he seems to be enjoying the recruiting process over again none the less.
Free stuff always wins. I still use gear from companies I no longer work for. Just don't feel like spending the money for the sake of a different logo.
I'm totally guilty of this. A Nike polo shirt with a company logo is still a great shirt. The difference is that I never trashed former companies on Twitter.
Unless he had a nametag on his chest, I would have no idea who he was even walking down the street. I don't expect everyday people to be like "look it's that Hill kid that said junk on twitter"
I mean isnt Twitter only used by recruits, recruiting fans, and butthurt reactionist
I can't recall who told it, but this reminds me of the story about seeing Andy Kaufman a year after his whole Jerry Lawler/wrestling bit had ended, and they could see that Kaufman was wearing his wrestling costume under his real clothes. Couldn't let it go.
I'm willing to bet that Trevon could, if he so chose, use a different travel bag. Or take his huge VT name tag off the bag. The fact that he's still repping VT while trolling VT is something I'm sure a psychologist would love a shot at. It's an interesting look to say the least.
Considering this guy left the field injured about 5 times per game, the sling shouldn't be a surprise
via GIPHY
Edit: For more than 2 pixels
Go back and watch the Florida State game. IIRC he got hurt and temporarily left the game on about four separate occasions. And there were other times in his VT career that he left injured multiple times in one game. It was a running joke with my friend that he couldn't play a quarter without getting hurt... and then he'd come back the next quarter and get hurt again.
