Zuccarello to Dallas for a conditional second round pick and third round pick. Lundqvist is asked about Zucc during the post game from the Rangers loss to the Capitals and cries. Zuccarello gets three points in his debut and then hurts his arm and is out for at least four weeks.
I lived through my Rangers being blown apart the season before the lockout, where Brian Leetch, Adam Graves, and Alex Kovalev were the last of the 1994 Cup team being traded. That team had been bad for so long, it was hard but necessary. The Rangers recent success made today hard.

Carl Hagelin (another one of my favorite Rangers) was dealt to the Capitals for a marginal player and a pick.
Matt Duchene, who for me is part of the Ryan O'Reilly/Petr Nedved club where there always seems to be demand for the player and they put up numbers, but their teams don't win, to Columbus for two firsts and two prospects.
Brandon Montador from the Ducks to Buffalo for a first rounder and an AHL defenseman. This seems like a really high price, and I expect bad teams to start floating defensemen who would not be expected to be traded in an attempt to extort a high price.

Me too, but interesting that Andre Burakovsky wasn't moved. Was hoping we could find a way to move him & get MoJo Back.
I wouldn't have been surprised if they moved Burky with his struggles this year (based on what they were expecting/hoping for) but I am kinda glad they didn't, He is still a very young (23) player with a lot of potential.
He is an RFA this upcoming offseason, so GMGM is going to have to make a tough decision whether to sign him (probably will catch around 3.5-4.5 AAV) or try to trade his rights and get something for him
As much as it's gonna pain me to see him go, The Flyers need to trade Simmonds. They won't resign him so it's time to move on. He'll be a great asset for some playoff team. Seems like a win win for the Flyers and whatever other team gets involved
Flyers fan here, and same. We've enjoyed Simmer for the majority of the last decade. He's been the consummate Flyer, but he doesn't fit with the long term plan and he hasn't been as impactful this year as we'd likely had hoped to expect (could probably argue for a number of reasons why that may be the case).
I'm still holding out on a pretty nice return seeing how his remaining salary is super manageable and any team in contention could slot him on their third line / 2nd PP units and really exploit opposing lineups. He's still tough as nails and these guys and should be desired by any team with cup aspirations.
Philly got Hartman and a 2020 4th that becomes a 3rd if Preds win a round for Simmonds. Kind of an interesting deal. Hartman was good in Chicago, but I don't think I have heard his name on Nashville.
Fan reaction I'm seeing is that of disappointment, but my buddy who's a Bruins fan thinks we got a fair deal. I personally think the deal, although not as sexy as we'd have liked, makes sense for what Simmonds is now, not what Simmonds used to be.
Hartman is young enough to fit within the team's current plans and could be an ideal 3rd line winger for Morgan Frost next year. This roster could use the toughness that Hartman brings and if he develops close to a 15/25 guy that flirts with 20 goals, that's definitely a win.
That Rangers-Caps game was fun today. Multiple fights and melees.
Caps got a good deal in the Hagelin trade. Hopefully he can help spark the 4th line. I'm hoping they get Smith-Pelly back and he returns to his 2018 Stanley Cup form.

Duclair has been traded more times than there were fans at the UVA spring game.
Duclair just will never put it together. It's a shame because he had so much potential, but it sounds like he's never gotten over his work ethic or maturity issues.

Watching a bunch of fellow Canes fans melting down because we're standing pat, but its the right move. Any trade we could realistically pull off would either hurt the team or would be getting a rental for what would inevitably be a 1st round exit.
Our window isn't for a couple more seasons when Svechnikov is fully NHL seasoned and Necas is running as our 2nd line C. Aho is already a star, and our defense is going to be at or near the top of the league for a while. Just have to have a little patience.
Getting rid of Ferland/Hamilton was an option, but I'm sure the Canes wanted a really hefty price that teams turned down.
A playoff appearance will do wonders for the fanbase, maybe more than whatever picks/prospects we could have gotten.
There are quite a few good players in Charlotte as well (Bean/Gauthier/Nedeljkovich/possibly Fleury) that will help us going forward, but more picks is always a good thing.
A final side note - could you imagine an elite goalie with this defense in front of him? That would be like having Bud Foster coach the All-VT defense against the current state of the coastal.
Oh and one more - Dundon met with the NHL about a game in Carter-Finley today. If it happens, we are all tailgating right?
The team this year is showing just how horrible Cam Ward and Scott Darling were last year. We suppress chances at a ridiculously efficient ability, and its making relatively average goaltending look pretty darn good. If we had any kind of sustained offensive ability (or, mainly if the Power Play didn't suck eggs) this would be a team vying for the top spot in the Metro right now rather than battling it out for the 8th seed. Though, with the tear they have been on since December, it would not surprise me to see them start to put some distance between themselves and the cut line now that they're on the good side of it.
And yes, if the game at Carter-Finley happens, we're tailgating.
Ferland is a guy who may have not produced the value that a team needing to make the playoffs needs, especially given the return the Flyers got for Simmonds. There are some tread on his tires and teams hesitate to make long term investments in guys like that, even though they are really valuable. Hopefully the Canes can resign him. I'd love to get him cheap on the Rangers.
Ferland has the rest of the season to prove it to the Canes if he wants to stay here. His production this year has been good when he's with Aho, but when he's not it struggles. Then again, everyone is better when they are with Aho. When they traded Rask for Neiderriter (still one of the dumbest trades this year, second to the Skinner for basically nothing deal we did before the season) they got a better version of Ferland in Nino. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
The Zucc trade elicited one of my saddest responses since I visited VT for the Miami game this year. It just felt like someone ripped the heart out of my chest, but not nearly as badly as Hank's reaction. I hated watching this, but it does also help to humanize the people that have to go through watching their friends being jettisoned off six ways to Sunday
Vegas got a huge boon with picking up Stone and signing him for an 8 year contract. Ottawa fans are so fucked until Melnyk is run out of town.
Rangers getting a 1st and an okay prospect for Hayes was nice, McQuaid fetching an extra pick from the one they dealt to get him isn't bad. Just hoping that they are able to use some of these draft picks to trade up, or trade for better players and get some help on July 1 to try and make at least one good run before Hank's current deal ends.
That was miserable, although the day Adam Graves was dealt to San Jose was worse for me.
Zucc trade gets done, goes out for Stars first game, looking like his normal rock star self, scores a goal and assist and then Boom, broken arm, out at least a month, maybe longer. Surgery required to repair it. Just hate it for him.
I can't believe Vegas gave Stone the same AAV as Kucherov. Stone is a very good player, but 9.5 AAV (for 8 years) for a guy that has never eclipse 65 points or 30 goals is crazy imo.
The first couple of years will be fine but the back 4 years is going to be hard to swallow for Vegas. Then again, they have enough "employees" on the strip to do the job...
I love the Stone contract. I'm of the opinion that GMGM is grossly overrated with Gallant's system being the key to the successful VGK roster (i.e. get 4 lines of fast guys and have them pressure the puck all the time). For McPhee to trade 2/3 of his first set of 1st round picks and completely cap out his team within 2 years time is awesome. I can't wait for those new deals for Stone, Patches, Fleury, and Schmidt to kick in next year. They will be in cap hell for years to come.

They have accumulated lots of picks. The key is to hope they finally find that star forward which the Rangers have been unable to draft going back to Jean Rattelle in the 60s. And hopefully, Bettman pulls some Patrick Ewing stuff and backdoors Conner McDavid to the Rangers when he decides he is fed up with Edmonton's BS.
