It's now a 5th alarm fire with all off duty personal called back in and surrounding counties sending units to cover the area.
Those hotplates will get after ya, I assume this is student housing? (been 20 years since I was cruising for future teacher coeds up there so I don't remember the buildings...)
Yeah, I saw this while I was out at Lowes a few minutes ago.
Just looked up pictures from the local news there. It looks horrific. News is reporting no injuries so far.
Consider this as your reminder to get renter's insurance. It is relatively cheap compared to homeowners. Don't let an accident or careless neighbors destroy all your stuff and have nothing to show for it.
These are college apartments, I'm sure most of these students and/or their parents aren't thinking about renters insurance.
Most property management companies in blacksburg require renters insurance now.
If i didn't have renters insurance when I was there my dad would have socked me straight in the face.
Property management companies will require liability insurance, but they could care less if you insure your belongings.
I lived in Foxridge when the fire of 2013/2014 (can't remember which year) happened. My roommate and I were home and even were on the news as we were standing outside watching it. We promptly bought renter's insurance the next day.
There have been multiple apartment building fires in H'burg since I have lived here. I hate those vinyl sided pos buildings.
Holy shit! I have a friend who lives on Lois Lane! Based on the news photos it looks like it's a few buildings down from her.
Update: According to my friend no humans were injured, but quite a few dogs died.
Damn, that sucks. RIP Puppies.
Sounds like the students were all gone at class. But a dog might have been trapped in one of the ones that burned down.
Also,
The Harrisonburg Police Department is asking anyone who lives in apartments 1093, 1083 or 1073 to check in with property management at the clubhouse.
From the pictures, looks like the fire is out/contained.
Smoking weed in the apartment will get after ya...
Millenials vape, smoking is gross
Pretty sure that was an Outlaw joke.
Oh, I thought it was just a general 'dumb stuff I did in college' joke.
Thank you. Def an Outlaw joke
Having gone to JMU for undergrad, I would have thought this to happen on Devon Lane, not Lois...damn.
