Good morning.
In less than 12 hours, fans from here will join others from around the region. And we will be launching our largest aerial battle in the history of the Hokies.
Hokies-- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.
We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps it's our fate, to advance on the 29th of March, but we will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation.
We're fighting for our right to live, to advance.
And should we win the day, the 29th of March will no longer be known as just a Friday, but as the day when Hokie Nation declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
We're going to live on!
We're going to survive!"
Today, we celebrate our Elite Eight!
Seriously though, while I'm in a clear mindset (and hopefully most of you all this early in the morning), I want to acknowledge that I love all of you and all of Hokie Nation.
I know you all are dressed in your finest orange and maroon and are prepared to face this challenge head on without fear.
Tonight may end with jubilation as we reach our first Elite Eight.
But, there's also a chance we lose to Duke (either in a tight one or going away) and our dance comes to an end. Which also may mean an end of an era with the possible departure of Buzz.
I just want to reflect about the past 5 years and how awesome it's been to watch this program go from rock bottom to Top 4 of the ACC and a Sweet Sixteen bid. For those who attend games, it's been a privilege to rock the Cassell with you all unknowingly and I hope know this will continue going forward no matter who is coaching and what players may stay.
Much booze will be consumed this eve amongst most of us across the country, the region, the state, and for those lucky enough to attend, within the arena.
Pending the outcome, I know things may get a little heated in the thread(s) with all our emotions, possible unfavorable calls may go against us, and the pending consequences our tournament departure may bring. So here's to you all before shit gets dicey.

This honestly might not be that much of a hot take, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the second biggest game any Virginia Tech sport has ever competed in, second only to the 2000 Sugar Bowl. First trip to the Sweet Sixteen in half a century and playing the #1 seed and the freakiest amateur athlete we have seen since LeBron James' high school days. The whole nation will be watching because Duke and Zion, and that place will be rocking. Tonight has the chance to be epic.
Let's just say a "win" would be really cool.
It's a special group of players, and they deserve their moment in the sun.

Men's Soccer played in the College Cup (Final Four) in 2007 against Wake (who went on to win it all)
Women's Soccer played in the College Cup (Final Four) in 2013 against FSU (who went on to win it all)
Fairly easily the biggest game in VT basketball history taboot.
Hustle, play defense, and beat Duke. That's what HOKIE basketball does!!
Why we are on this particular mission, we'll never know. But I do know, here today, that the Hokies will emerge, victorious, once again.

My freshman year we lost to USC Upstate in the season opener and people were sleeping in the student section. As of today, there are 12 teams left that could win a national title and VT is one of them. Tonight, we are playing Duke for the right to go to the Elite Eight with the whole basketball world watching. It was really fun watching this program grow under Buzz. From beating Princeton in the NIT to storming the court after a double OT win over UVA. Regardless of what happens tonight, I really am going to miss this group.
