OT: How Hokie Is your House?

My wife and I are insane and looking to sell our townhouse and upgrade to a house which in Northern Virginia is financial suicide but I digress. As our relator was walking through with us yesterday he told us we needed to make sure we had some "neutral colors". He also said what if a non-VT fan wants ot buy your place but the decor turns him/her off? This as I was wearing my new VT sweatshirt and standing on our VT bathmats and looking at our VT Shower curtain, decorative towels, etc. So my question for you TKP audience is how Hokie is your domicile? I gave you a small list of what was in our bathroom and my "man-cave", bedroom, kids rooms and kitchen are just as awesome (wife decorated the family room and dining room more traditionally).

Not Hokie enough, sadly.

This ^. My wife and I are both alum, but we have not decorated the house as such. Plenty of VT clothing for us and the two boys, but not no Hokie themed paint or finishing.

Bob: What would ya say ya do here?

Brad: I already told you! I iron out the minutiae so Justin doesn't have to. I have people skills dammit! What the hell is wrong with you people?

Let's just say visitors know I'm a VT fan.

Not related to my house but I successfully converted my girlfriend from a Duke basketball fan to VT.

She particularly loves KJ Blackshear, and liked Chris Clarke a lot last season.

Doing the Lord's work

I do art stuff.

Getting the (blue) devil behind you, as it were.

Not nearly enough. I'd like to get a piece of hokie stone to put above the front door

I have two Hokie Stones!

Even when you get skunked; fishing never lets you down. 🎣

Welcome mat, three hats hanging by door, pictures in house of Blackburg pubs/Lane Stadium/Blacksburg, bull skull (with horns) hanging on wall painted maroon with Hokie footprints on it, VT branded license plate, VT metal magnet/sticker on car, moisture absorbers in cup holders, locked and unlocked iPhone wallpaper, screen saver on work computer, Yeti tumbler, 50% closet/clothes, tack pin board, multiple koozies, and I am sure I am missing others.

People at work and friends call me the walking billboard for VT.

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

The guest room in my place is dedicated to VT (picture of the VT helmet being hoisted, panorama of Lane, VT flag I picked up at the Cincy game in 2012 I believe, TT autographed mini helmet, wooden painted VT colored American flag with the Hokie bird on it) but I try to limit it to items I can move, take down, etc. I have a different VT colored wooden American flag above my bed in my room. Resisting painting anything VT colors since I hope to eventually rent my place out, otherwise it could be way more Hokie'd out. Unfortunately my VT shower curtain from college does not jive with what is going on in the bathroom (or so I'm told...)

Love the VT wood flag idea, where'd you get it?

One I picked up at the Poquoson seafood fest a couple years back, the other I picked up out in Smithfield, VA while out with my gf. I am always on the lookout for specialized VT gear when I am out at little shops or at festivals.

Are you trying to say my maroon and orange painted living room might make my house harder to sell? s/

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

They did the wrong kind of sand - Would have been a million times better if they played Sandman instead of Sandstorm.

Forget what your Realtor said. You're in NOVA where the market is bare and buyers are jumping through hoops to get their offer accepted.

Humble-brag: When photos of my condo were posted by my realtor one was of my signed Tyrod jersey in the living room and he ended up liking it....made that drunk purchase feel even better.

I'm a single guy so the limited decor in my house is related to VT, black labs, ducks, and fish. That being said VT stuff is probably the bottom of all of that, have a nice mural of Lane/Cassell, A full brick of hokie stone somewhere that got lost in the move, and some small hokie things here and there.

(add if applicable) /s

My parents have a massive maroon shrub on a hill in the backyard shaped like the Square Root of One VT. It's probably at least 30'x15'.

I knew I was adopted.

Brothers don't shake hands. Brothers gotta HUG!!!

Leonard. Duh.

Funny enough, when I played Clash of Clans, my screename was leonard, and I do not know why.

I don't have a picture of it, but it was based off the VT on the hill behind the VT baseball outfield. This is my avatar.

Now you know why.

2 time Longwood grad married to a Hokie.

Our house is appropriately Hokie'd, though I'm sure my boyfriend would say we need more Hokie décor. We've got a rather faded flag out front that I'm looking to replace this spring and just some random other stuff like throw blankets and a massive canvas of Lane Stadium at night on the wall in our office, but it's pretty neutral inside the house. I'm kind of hoping we live here long enough for me to overhaul the landscaping outside with orange and maroon flowers and bushes and stuff, but that's on the back burner because landscaping is $$$. I probably have more Hokie specific Christmas decorations than things that stay up year round.

Unpopular opinion time: I love Virginia Tech, but I don't feel the need to make my house a shrine to the university. I fully support anyone elses (except the boyfriend's) decision to do so, however.

I share your unpopular opinion. Our downstairs bathroom is all Hokie but that's it. And a yard flag to counter the neighbors' WVU flag. I prefer to wear my orange and maroon in public so my wardrobe is.....homerish, to put it politely.

My office used to be painted maroon. we flipped that to grey when we turned it into a nursery. Outside of that, we have a flag and a couple wall decorations, but that's about it.

Looking back, the maroon painted walls were a mistake. Trapped heat like a mofo and kept the room a good 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house, which sucked during pretty much everything but the deep winter months. Plus, grey/neutral walls make any decorations stand out more, as we've learned elsewhere in the house.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

My wife is a Carolina girl born and bread. Fortunately enough, after 20+ years of marriage, she loves college football and loves Frank Beamer almost as much as she loves Dean Smith.

So we've done OK here at the homestead with some garden stones, coffee mugs and things of that sort.

Is coronavirus over yet?

The rest of my house is neutral, ...but my game-room is Hokie'd out.

My dog's name is Hokie and my license plate is HOKEEZE. Think I'm covered elsewhere.

We put the K in Kwality

Mine is in Blacksburg. Does that count?

VT flag and doormat outside; my office has a couple of signed posters from some fan event and a nice panoramic from the sugar bowl with auburn that my MIL gave us.

The most VT thing about my house, though, is that my dogs are named Fuente and Foster. We had a Beamer, but sadly, he passed away last fall.

exit light

My basement/mancave is pretty Hokied out.

Who am I kidding?

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

We have the same panorama of Lane! Also, I really want to pet your dog

What is your dog's name! I want to be his/her friend.

That's Maisie, my almost 2 year old English Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix. Cute as can be, but man is she a little ball of nonstop energy.

Non-stop? That's rough. I have a Boston Terrier that only has 2 gears. Asleep and full throttle. Named him after a car's license plate I used to see in the stadium resident lot all the time. Bright pink Ford station wagon with license plate JIBBY. I thought it was a good name for a dog.

Fucking love that neon sign. Where'd you get it?

Yooooooo...

My family has 2 Tech flags at the entrance of our driveway, a windsock and a flag above the carport. We have a collection of items and pictures in the bar basement like tickets, magazines, pictures and a gold Georgia Tech basketball phone I won as a kid and wrote 'Virginia' on over Tech.

a gold Georgia Tech basketball phone I won as a kid and wrote 'Virginia' on over Tech

Did you have to also draw a swoosh on the phone?

I am sad I did not see this sooner. That is hilarious.

So the phone now says "Georgia Virginia"?

First off ignore realtor, we bought a house with a hot pink, neon green, electric blue, and orange room. It's just paint. My home office is burnt orange, there is a flag in the front yard, the rest are things just hanging on the wall. We are going to put the flying VT behind the pool cues soonish. Also the yellow bathroom with monkeys painted on the wall is probably worse than the office.

Did your realtor go to UVA?

This is my guest bedroom. Its a whole lot of VT.

Sure, but what TEAM do you like? [Nicely Done! You treat your guests right.]

This is Jander75's real estate agent after seeing your guest room:

The entire room shows well...

....but the ceiling fan blades take it to another level

I was gonna say, that and inside the nightstand drawers really put it over the top.

This makes me want to redecorate my guest bedroom.

Don't get me wrong, I like how it is now. It's a golf theme, and the greatest part is that my wife chose the theme. Mainly because she wants my dad to see my hole-in-one framed certificate every time he visits, because I've gotten one and he hasn't, and she wants the SOB to remember that (her words).

But this......is glorious.

Contrary to what Coach Beams may have said in a heated moment, I'm not out of whack. I love my Hokies.

I have the panoramic picture in your 2nd photo in my man cave.

Man, you've got some seriously cool stuff...

The two old school wall plaques on the 2nd shelf are probably my favorite items.

All of your stuff is cool, and very collectible, but your hokie totem pole gets honorable mention.

I know it's not rare, but I like it.

My bedroom at my parents' house is orange with a VT border all the way around the room, I have VT pillowcases and a VT comforter, my trash can is VT, and my shower curtain is VT. I got all of this done when I was an 8th grader. When my Marshall friends visit, they are kind of shocked.

Workshop has a replica of the Lane Tunnel Hokie stone over the door. Garden flag by the front door is VT if its not a holiday my wife has a flag for.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

I have entirely too many VT things in my house, but the most unique thing I have is my collection of helmets. The pictures below are old, so not all of them are in the pictures, but I think you get the idea.

All of my pups have VT jerseys and collars/leashes. They of course wear their jerseys on game days.

And the newest member of the family is named Beamer:

Cute pups.

However, I don't recall VT wearing any of these helmets...

(I do like the gray and the lunchbox helmet, though.)

"Yes I am going to have favorites. My favorites are high production and low maintenance players, coaches, and staff." - JMFF

You're correct, we never wore any of those helmets so that is why they are seperated from the rest.

Pink helmet: created to raise money for breast cancer
LPD helmet: created to raise money for Bud's charity
Gray helmet: is a replica of the helmet that Ohio State wore during their spring game as a tribute to VT after April 16th
White helmet: is a collectors helmet for the Battle of Bristol

Damn nice collection of helmets.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Oh man, jealous of those helmets. Do want.

We have a VT yard flag in the front yard and a flag on one of the walls in the garage.

And then we have the sports room - lots of VT items and then a mix of my favorite professional teams.

My fiance and I are a house divided. She's a Seminole... The older son is a Hokie and the daughter is a Seminole. We're both trying to develop the baby boy.

I will prevail.

Did you build that wooden hanging VT sign? I've been looking for something like that for a while now.

My youngest son built it for me as a Christmas present a year and a half ago, so one of a kind, can't help you find one.

The LewDew, Professional Golf Bum

That's awesome. I wish I had that sort of talent.
