Think today might be a good day to wander the wastelands in BL1 and BL2. Today GOTY BL1 is out which I'l' be going back through since theyve now announced BL3 will drop September 13th! Anyone else stoked for the latest installment in the series?

Haven't played BL 1 and 2 for awhile, also missed the DLCs because only had dial up when they both came out.
BL 1 is mainly a nostalgia trip to see something different being a looter shooter and not being serious.
BL 2 improved a lot of gameplay from BL 1 just went closer to being more serious with dark humor, but still consider Handsome Jack as the best character from Borderlands.
I might pick them up again along with BL 3 to remember Pandora if I don't get too busy trying to rank up to Diamond in Overwatch.
Same here its been long enough now I've forgotten most of the stuff aside from the big stuff so I'm going to go back through and play them in prep for 3 coming out this fall. BL1 is kind of rough but with the GOTY edition remaster hopefully theyve fixed the outlying issues. The stories are perfect in all of them personally they got the perfect amount of humor. That said I'd argue Claptrap is the funniest while Jacks character is the best overall.

Why not get it on console? I'd typically get it on PC but I wont be able to hold out a full year so I'll be playing it on xbox anyway.

Why do I get the feeling from the trailer they're going to try and steer this toward the Fortnite/Anthem online shooter that tries to rake in money off microtransactions
Maybe I'm just jaded that most games seem to be going that direction now.
Because that's where shooters are going. Every publisher wants to jump on yelling "me too" until the next gaming innovation wave hits. Same thing that Minecraft had to deal with, but this has a much larger financial impact.
I mean going back and playing some of those older games, its nice that you can just sit down and actually play without getting hit up every 2 seconds to buy buy buy to improve your stats.
Playing Halo: Master Chief Collection and Dead Space, its nice to actually have a story to follow to get immersed into the game. These games now are all about nibbling up 20 seconds to 30 mins of your time between ads to get you to pay more. Its turned me off to the whole genre.
Dunno if I'd link borderlands with going the fortnite path yet they were there long before fortnite was even conceived. I'm sure this one will be more live services than any of the others since its the way games go these days but I'm not concerned it might go down the rabbit hole after fortnite.
Borderlands has always DLC'd the shit out of their games. Luckily, the DLC has usually been good.
Fortnite and other F2P games have a legitimate argument to have MTX.
Anthem was an abomination though and the recent Kotaku article recently sprung that the game that was in development for 7 years really only had 18 months of development due to scrapped iterations and indecision from BioWare management. That game was just a sack of shit.
Games have always had DLC, and as long as it was good, I didn't care too much. But then you have games like Battlefront (especially Star Wars: Battlefront) where you paid up front to get the game, and then you basically had to pay again to get the content you really wanted and....
Agreed! If BL3 does what BL2 did with their DLC I'm fine with it. I will tolerate exactly 0 MTX in their game assuming it's a $60 release.
Devs need to start deciding what direction they are taking their funding model. Double dipping has caused me to skip several games now.
Just saw they announced BL3 will allow and have crossplay which is a big bonus for all, hopefully this begins the end of all the timed exclusive shit
Will the PS allow that? I know Sony was pretty big on not making that option available for some other big titles
Dunno on the PS to Xbox bit but the microsoft store lists it as a feature so it may only be for Xbox and PC due to sony continuing to be the pain in the ass on this part.
