Virginia Tech has had a sustained 20+ years of "good" football. Fuente has maintained that good status, as VT is known nationally to be a "good" football program. What is his vision to turn VT into a "great" football program? What should we as fans be looking for to help him sell that vision?

What is your reasoning behind limiting media access? If he wont answer that question, from all of your years in coaching, what year have you been most pleased with your offense? (i.e. not having to hold back players because QB is limited, etc.)

Nope, i'm most definitely not. I've been too busy trying to catchup after watching so many of these movies out of order... still need to get Ragnarok, Dr. Strange, and Ant-Man/Wasp watched before I head to the theater....
Maybe all of this is some simulated exercise by Jarvis, and every movie since Winter Soldier has just been part of it... or maybe Ultron actually succeeded and the human race is gone... or Rogers is just dreaming, still trapped in the ice somewhere.

Do you understand that by alienating the fan base (more and more each year), that you will be judged exclusively on wins and losses - and last year was the worst season in terms of W-L record in 20+ years?
How do you feel the spring game this year compared to years past - benefits for the team / practice, recruiting, fan expereince, excitement for the program? Do you think it will help future HC donations?

If you can find the Sirius XM interview from today (23 April) that Fireman posted, he talked for about a minute on his approach to the spring game this year and how it was different from other years. Not a full answer to all of your points but he did address how it allowed him to have 'more live action', for him to be 'less nervous' with health and injuries, and to have a couple of game planning and opponent specific practices after the spring game.

At the end of the 2016 Pitt game, why, instead of kneeling to run out the clock, did you elect to run several fake jet sweeps/QB runs--a play that caused fumbles multiple times that season--with our backup QB?

When he hired in, did he develop a 3-5 year plan for the program and does he feel the program is ahead or behind? Does he have a new plan, if so, what is it?

Are you open to changing the defensive coordinator title to be "Bud Foster" so that all futures DCs will be Virginia Tech's Bud Foster? If so then who do I talk to to make this happen?

Training camp for the 2019 season is literally the next thing on the football calendar. Willis is obviously going to be the starter.
It seems a little disrespectful to me not to name him the starting QB, at least heading into camp. Otherwise you're basically saying that he's lost his starting job from 2018.

Thats interesting. It's sort of like the phrase of "voluntary" workouts in the NFL. The coaches are not allowed to interact with the players during the summer, but he still uses it as part of his evaluation. Can they actually watch film with the coaches during this time or is it that the coaches just can't be on the field?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think it might be helpful to empower team leaders who will actually be taking part in those workouts.
I hate to take this cheap shot, but considering last year's team seemed to have virtually no leadership, maybe Fuente should consider the opposite strategy of what he did in the past.

At what point last season did you lose the locker room? Has it been relocated, and have the Merryman Center and Lane Stadium room maps been updated accordingly?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Coach, I know you and every coach has a way that they prefer to run your program and I respect that. With that being said, do you think the ripple effect of losing a locker room in a particular season with a particular class has a way smaller impact than losing the fans due to minimal contact and information with the team? Follow up; Do you have visibility into the fanbase feeling left out?

Spicy chicken, egg 'n cheese (🤫 don't tell French) from Bojangle's for breaks, mate. Chic-fil-a USED to have one, but did away with it [insert boo this man gif]. As far as other meals, well, currently haven't settled on one yet.

The Chick-Fil-A near me also stopped serving the spicy chicken biscuit several months ago. No idea the reasoning, but I don't like. Was definitely my go to breakfast item there.

Go watch Ragnarok as soon as you can. It is hands-down one of the most fun movies I have ever seen.
This might help

When are we going to win the national Championship?
You obviously do not follow our bass fishing team
Assuming he would give you the real answer, "Do we have a championship (ACC) caliber QB on the roster, currently or one that is developing into one?"
Assuming he is going to give a semi coach speak answer, "What are his ideas to re-involve the fanbase the other 8 months of the year?"
What channel will the spring game be on next year?
Are all of the guys that were on "thin ice" when you got here, gone now?

What is the coaching staff's strategy to improve Dax's performance in the Benny's Challenge?
This is a great question. I was pretty surprised he *only* ate 4 slices
Gotta give credit to the other team. That pizza really came out there and played within itself, had a great game.
What is the programs plan for improving recruiting?
Winning.
If I can paint a house in 5 hours and you can paint a house in 3 hours, how long would it take us to paint a house together?
15 / 8 or 1.875 hours. And you're hired for the next house I build.
I want answers... and I want them NOW.
I've just always wanted to say that to a grown person and make them look really alarmed.
Would you be nterested in oilfield work?
I'm down for anything.
Does he get to play the River Course for free? Also, would he need a partner for a member-guest tourney?
I believe coaches have free membership to Blacksburg Country Club but not sure about what their deal is with the River Course.
I see you're a project manager. Construction? We do a client appreciation tournament there. Need A/E services for anything?
Not really, no. We don't really delve into any design-build type stuff (I assume that's what you mean).

30 comments in and there's no duck sized horses vs horse sized duck question.. you all are slacking
Please we all know the best question is who would win in a fight between a grilled cheese and a taco
Taco has more ingredients...grilled cheese is just cheese and bread...
but the grilled cheese can be transformed into so much more with the addition of a single ingredient. Fried egg, bacon, ham, sliced apple, etc.
It is a canvas on which to create something as opposed merely a food item.
Adding an ingredient to a taco is not as transformative as it already has many ingredients.
What hasn't Ryan Willis been named the starter going in to Fall camp?
Because we are months away from fall camp.
Training camp for the 2019 season is literally the next thing on the football calendar. Willis is obviously going to be the starter.

Burning up Instagram obviously.
Would you look into having an alumni day where former players (especially those in the NFL) and current players meet in Blacksburg?

not sure if you mean specifically breakfast, but Chick-Fil-A definitely still has a spicy chicken sammich on the menu
Well the only 2 in town (C'ville) USED to have it, now no longer do (for quite some time). Must be a location thing.
The Chick-Fil-A near me also stopped serving the spicy chicken biscuit several months ago. No idea the reasoning, but I don't like. Was definitely my go to breakfast item there.

It's a bit passive aggressive in here ...
That tone is going to happen when steps are taken to disengage from the fanbase

WHat is the weird recruiting story you've experienced at Tech so far? You can leave out names if you want.
1. What are the top 2 or 3 challenges you see to get this program to the next level?
2. What do you love most about VT?
Why oh why did the Giants take Daniel Jones #6 overall??????????????????????????????????????????????????
