Id rather have Emma gifs than Lawrence gifs... am I doing this right?
What about a music video by a band called Lawrence singing about Emma
Video
And yes, the song is actually about Emma Watson. And the guys current band is amazing
before march madness this year: 10-2 with a loss to LOLUVa, laughing all the way to a good bowl (playoff?)
after march madness this year: 6-6 with a win over LOLUVa. The streak must hold.
B.
For UVA to knock us out of playoff contention would be unimaginably bad.
10-2. We will lose to them again some time. Having a subpar season this year with a weak schedule would send the program spiraling into disarray.
I'm kind of under the impression that we will see two stances on option A.
1.) The streak is going to end eventually. Getting to 10 wins does more for the program than maintaining a streak when recent history would suggest we still own UVA and this is only one data point.
2.) Getting to 10 wins would be *relatively* unremarkable given our schedule, so doing that paired with a loss to UVA could be equally unremarkable and just a slight bummer to break the streak. Assuming the other loss is ND, this record would mostly mean that we got the fair end of several 50/50 games.
I don't really like the scenario with option B because it'd likely mean a hot-seat for Fuente and potentially going through a coaching search and that whole mess.
It would depend on UVA's record to be honest. If somehow them beating us results in them winning the coastal and us being 10-2 then i'd rather not have a football team.
No
This is my vote too.
B. With how weak our schedule is seen this coming season, I don't think we have a legitimate chance at the playoffs. Even a 10-2 w/ win over Clemson (assumed) in the ACC championship, I think the nod goes to Clemson.
Also, fuck UVA.
In the scenario you describe there would be no ACC team in the Playoffs. Obviously there are other factors here but if we go 10-2 and beat Clempson in the ACC Championship, either we get in or it goes to some other SEC school or something like that. Clemson wouldn't get in with an ACC Championship game loss. The CFB world would explode.
I agree with point two.
We've done this twice before on this site lol
A tradition unlike any other.
I know - and I just ran a poll on Twitter with the same question haha
I am experiencing de ja vu...
6-6 with the schedule we have would be absolutely tragic.
Answer amended. First response to BOTH options for this season: NO
In the absolute necessity of a contingency:

B.
A. option B this year would mean the end of the bowl streak most likely (unless 1 of the 6 losses is against a FCS team) and to those saying A would knock us out of the playoffs, keep dreaming, we could go 12-0 and not get a playoff spot this year because the schedule is so weak.
But 13-0 would have us in the playoffs again and you have to be 12-0 before you can go 13-0.
10-2. Would you rather be terrible and keep the streak alive or be in the hunt for a playoff spot?
I'd go with the 100 duck sized horses.
A.
As somebody above pointed out 6-6 doesn't cut it for keeping the bowl streak alive and frankly that is more valuable for recruiting than the streak over LOLUVA.
Second thought on this: as crappy as this season felt, I felt damned good the monday after we beat LOLUVa and that feeling lasted until they blew out USCjr and we lost our bowl game. Bring on the 6-6, baby
6-6 with the schedule we have would most certainly indicate that we hired the wrong guy. A big no on that one for me.
Going 10-2 with a loss to LOLUVA would mean.... We lost to LOLUVA. A big no on that one for me.
Tough call because 6-6 this year sucks with two 1aa schools. So beat UVA but probably not in a bowl game (or losing to 1aa team), very tough. You make it 7-5 in all over B.
Fuck UVA
Kill UVA
Marry ???
Logic says 10-2.
My hate for loluva says 6-6 with a win over the bad guys.
I'm gonna give an unpopular opinion and say I honestly don't really give a frog's fat ass about our streak over our crappy in-state rival any more. I want the Virginia Tech program to be elite again. That's all I want, and I don't give a fuck about getting our 6th god damn lackluster win in the last week of the season so we can try to convince ourselves that it was a good year.
In the late-90s and early 2000s we would split games with UVA. But we were an awesome TOP-5 program that would kick the crap out of teams and was super fun to root for. If you are too young to remember those days then I feel sorry for you for even thinking this is a 50/50 question.
Yeah, this whole premise is based on UVa remaining a laughing stock over the long haul. I mean, its probably a fools errand to think that will remain the case, especially now that they have championship cash influx in a revenue sport. So... if we keep comparing ourselves to them to the point where we judge an entire season on a win over them, we're not setting ourselves up for long term success. As you said, we need to be striving for more, and setting the pace, and if they are able to keep up, great for them. But our goals should always be how we are in the national scene, and outside of 2016, it ain't been pretty recently.
10-2. They can beat us every year for all I care if we win the Coastal every year. ODU is a bigger rival right now.
