OT: Call To Arms Against Xfinity

So far, Xfinity has not agreed to carry the new ACC Network. It's crunch time and this is the perfect offseason challenge for fellow Hokies

For any of you who are Comcast/Xfinity Subscribers, please reach out. I've started blowing them up in the comments section on their facebook posts.

Oh, I reached out last Friday. Jacked my rate $50 a month...without ACC Network. I politely asked where I could drop off equipment. Looks like I'm going to go to Youtube TV. Tril over next weekend watching the USOpen and some soccer, then completely cutting the cord.

They gave us a 25% increase, about $50, 3 months back, and the person put us in a 'new package' to get our rate back down.

We almost cancelled and then signed a new agreement under my wife's maiden name to make it look like we moved from the address.

YoutubeTV doesn't have ACCNetwork yet either. I may be switching to PS Vue.

But it is listed as carrying it when it starts up in the photo from Babcock's tweet, which is the first indication that I have seen that it will be available.

Edit: Nevermind. I didn't notice the check marks. I was so excited that YouTubeTV was listed that I didn't look too closely.

It is listed as one of the providers that does not carry it at the moment.

As one of YoutubeTV's biggest advocates, I'm really hoping they get their shit together and pick it up.

AKA look at the green check marks.

stick it in, stick it in, stick it in!

Oooooohhhh. I didn't see the green check marks at first.

So far, YoutubeTV gives you all of the ESPN channels including the SEC network, so hopefully it gets picked up.

Still plenty of time.

I have a Hulu subscription, so I'll at least have it thru there...

Hulu is our only TV now (Netflix/Amazon prime if you count those), it's worked great (we had comcast then fios then DirecTV now). Its been better than DirecTV Now by a bunch. It's so much cheaper than FIOS, which was half as much as comcast.

I have a question. Can you just purchase a subscription model app for the ACC network, or does it have to come with something else?

I don't think there's any way to just get ACC network or pay for only ESPN services. The closest thing would be Hulu or PS Vue.

In my opinion, Comcast (who still owns part of Hulu with Disney) is doing a dance with Disney to figure out the economics of negotiating its carriage with ESPN now to minimize cord-cutting, or trying to wait it out to delay a fee increase.

Disney is also pondering a bundle with Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+ (https://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-hulu-comcast-disney-20190...). If they do that, it would no doubt eat into the Comcast/Xfinity base. My wife and I should probably switch to Hulu live anyway. It would likely save us in the neighborhood of $50/mo.

Adding Comcast is important for the ACC profits as it would pick up all the traditional Comcast cable subscribers. But it's not like there aren't options for anyone wanting the ACCN.

My message to Comcast is this, "I'll be watching the ACCN this fall; the only question is who will be providing my cable service."

ACCN starting off great...

Everytime I complain to FiOS they lower my rate. I got a loyalty discount recently. Will be keeping some cable when I move next week, but with smart TVs at a low cost now, most of the equipment that raises my bill will be gone.

I'm guessing Sling hasn't agreed to carry it yet either since they are owned by Dish. My backup plan was to use my parents Xfinity login. While its not uncommon for these negotiations to drag until the last minute, I'm starting to get a bit concerned now.

Don't worry I'm sure the same people who negotiated the Raycon/ESPN deal will be able to handle this easily.

I'm Spectrum internet and Hulu TV. Sometimes live sports on the Hulu app don't produce the best picture quality, but I think it is more an issue that I have a Roku stick. Most people will have smart TV which is likely better.

But I love the combo otherwise. About $45 cheaper than what I was paying for cable and internet with Spectrum, and we get all the channels we typically watch. I also have an HD antenna that I throw up in the window if we need to try and get a local channel by air that isn't on Hulu.

steps up on to soap box

This is just yet another reason to bitch at Comcast; an evil company that gets away with providing a shit product and shit customer service. I urge everyone to tweet, call, and complain to comcast and make their lives miserable. Then, I encourage you to drop comcast (if you have the luxury of living in a place where there is competitive market for ISPs), and kick those fuckboys to the curb. Comcast is one of the few entities in the world that I hate more passionately than UVA. FUCK COMCAST.

A classmate of mine works for Comcast in a higher up position. I forwarded the thread. Maybe she can help, but I doubt it.

Help? How? By having a good laugh? She can't authorize the ACC Network nor can she hand out coupons good for 50% off the rate for a year.

Maybe she can get it in front of the right person who will actually read and understand the negative feedback.

It was worth the 2 seconds of my time text it to her.

This is one of the MANY reasons I am glad FIOS came into my neighborhood. I ditched Comcast the moment FIOS went active and haven't even thought about going back. This is no amount of money that could make me go back to that terrible company.

It's not on COX either. That's who has been assigned the monopoly in my area.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Same in my area (Fairfax, VA).... drives me nuts I can only use COX for internet as I use YouTube TV for cable. Don't get me started on Cox's shitty cable packages and how GREAT the deal is.... its a joke and a half

Too many times their internet is going in and out. I complain to them all the time as they will then send a signal to improve my internet connection. It works but then later in the month, its gets choppy again. I swear they are just trolling everyone... sometimes its great and sometimes its shit but yet they try to charge the same price.

To all... If you don't already, always complain to your provider! They will always give you a credit if you bitch enough at them. Still doesn't help the internet but at least you aren't paying the full price.

This is where I'm at. Easy enough to drop Xfinity soon, since I'm looking to move to the Roanoke area, but looks like COX is the big dog in Roanoke and surrounding areas. May end up going back to PS Vue if the price is right when I move.

I recently entered into a new contract with Comcast and decided to call yesterday about the ACCN. The rep said they weren't sure yet if they'd carry it or not. Said they'd know closer to fall. Don't know if that's just BS or legit but that's what they told me.
