I don't know how she became one, but Hokie Nation will take it.

Can she play DE?
She seems a little undersized, but we all know Bud likes DE's with a little twitch more than anything.
Virginia tech actually has a large presence in New York (for reasons I'm still trying to figure out)
https://vt.edu/admissions/undergraduate/snapshot.html (5th most represented state)
So maybe they just have family friends that are tied to the university and that introduced her to
The NE has huge presence at every college Maryland and South. As funding for colleges from state governments went got smaller schools needed out of state students to help full the gap. In some places those students also raise up entrance scores and grades, like at Alabama where over 55% of the students are from out of state.
That's been a trend for the last 25 years, at least. I know when I went there, I had a lot of friends in my dorm from New York and New Jersey. I can only assume that it has to do with just how densely populated that area is. When you've got that many people, they have to go somewhere.
I'm from New Jersey myself

for a while, it wasn't cost prohibitive to send your kid out-of-state vs paying in-state rate at a lot of the northeast state schools. So bigger state schools in driving distance (~8 h) like PSU, WVU, UMD, VT, anOSU, UConn, UNC etc all did great picking up students who didn't want to stay "home" or may have had bigger and better programs in a wider range of fields.
One of the reasons I went to Tech, is NJ has very limited in-state Big Schools. It's basically Rutgers, and that's about it. Half my high-school was going to Rutgers, and I wasn't interested in going there pretty much because of that. It's not like Virginia where you have Tech and UVA.
Yeah, you're a little bit older than me - in the intervening years, Rowan (my alma mater) got some significant investment (both privately and from the state) and has effectively doubled enrollment since I enrolled as a freshman in 2007. I think they'd like to become a Big School (and they definitely have the ambition) but it definitely won't reach the scale of Rutgers anytime soon
David MF Wilson could have been an influence...
Hosley was also drafted by the New Jersey Giants while Cruz was on the team I believe.
More important question, why is VTFootballGrad Insta-stalking Victor Cruz's daughter?
VTFG just instastalks everything and anything to do with NYG is my guess
Correct
haha, I was totally joking. You're good VTFootballGrad
Sounds like another high end recruit Fuente has a good lead on and will let slip away.
Based off dad's end zone moves, she should at least be recruited for the dance team. Are there scholarships for dance/cheer? Could one multisport golf/dance/cheer?
Maybe her mother is a hokie? Any info on her? Regardless, it's very cool to have high-profile exposure outside of the region.
It's a "jersey" for the PGA junior league. They all wear the same color shirts with a different number. A way to draw kids to the game of golf; giving them their own jersey. The "team" she is on is the "Hokies."
Well damn. Maybe she isn't a super fan then.
Went down the page to allow for the fandom thoughts.
Maybe she is! Maybe the "leader" of the team is a big Hokie fan. They had to name it for a reason...
And she was probably either drafted to the team or placed on it without picking the Hokies.
Yeah there has to be some connection. If it was "tigers" or "wildcats" I wouldn't think as much but the term "Hokies" is as unique as they come.
Copyright Infringement!!!
or something like that, not a lawyer.
It's a Trade Mark. But I'll let it slide.
Slow news day
It's an Insta post first of all...and a good thought with youth sports. More news days should focus on the positive and uplifting.
